Quick service. Good food. Very reasonably priced. I got the bbq chicken pizza last time and it was great!

Today i dined at Spikes bar and grill and I saw so much potential in this fine cuisine however they sadly crumpled under pressure. It took 1 hour 7 minutes and 29 seconds for my group to begin receiving our meals. It was a long, treacherous wait however once the food arrived it was quite delectable and the flavors were exquisite! But then it took another 1 hour 7 minutes and 31 seconds for us to acquire the bills. We considered dining and dashing bc we felt forgotten and abandoned by the wait staff, but since we are such kind, amazing, lovely, and sincere people we endured through the pain and waited and paid the check. Lastly the toilets in the bathroom were weirdly low to the ground, it felt as if i was sitting on one of santa's elf's potties. Summer fun! I used to play at Spikes back when they were located on Nebraska's State Fairgrounds. Their new location is huge, & I love it. There's about a dozen outdoor sand courts, where they host summer & fall leagues. I play with friends, but this is perfect for something like a company league. I've never seen it, but I hear they have indoor courts for off-season leagues. Plenty of picnic tables for "cheerleaders", or to stash your shoes & cell phones while you play. There's a small kids' area with some playground equipment, but I would recommend not letting your kid run loose, as it can get kinda rowdy. Big bar inside, which serves food. Mini-bar outside, which serves beer. Waitresses will also bring pitchers to your court if you're playing. TIP: - Bring heavy-duty bug spray. The courts are next to some un-developed land, which breeds mosquitoes! - Wear flip-flops, bring your ID & $$, but leave your purse in the trunk. Less stuff to haul around, & you can hose off the sand before you get into your car. - I've never been single at this place, but it DOES seem like a great place to meet singles, if you're looking. read more

I am SUPER jealous of ya'll in Lincoln. As a former volleyballer, I would LOOOOOVE to have a bar that featured a chance to play sports too. I imagine I could get fairly motivated to exorcize if beer was involved. This place is huge btw, the pictures don't do it justice. It looks like a warehouse! My brother introduced me to this place and I've got to say, William, you know your bars. For whatever reason that day the pizza really appealed to me. It had pepperoni, jalapenos and cream cheese, pretty much a winner. I was surprised that even though it was a personal pan sized pizza I couldn't finish it, in fact I think two of the slices would have done me just fine. I think everything on that menu looked great and I'd love to go back. Hopefully I can join someone's game volleyball and spend a day watching some Huskers on all those TV's. read more

A friend recommended this place today to us, he plays Volleyball here sometimes. Yes, Spikes has indoor and outdoor Volleyball courts. They offer leagues as well. Lots of tv's throughout the restaurant and items were all $10 or less. Big place, nice staff, inexpensive food that is abundant in portions. We loved it and will be back. read more

Stopped by to have a beer...if you're into going to a bar and seeing kids at the bar and running around, then you'll like it . Not me. Tried to shot pool but the young kids were running around the pool tables with pool sticks. I said something to the bartender and they just laughed. I won't be back. read more

I've played sand volleyball out here for years and it's a great place. They have 12 outdoor courts and some indoor as well. Since they have volleyball most nights of the week, there is always a good crowd out there which adds to the atmosphere. It'd be hard to find more people gathered and having fun on a Wednesday night anywhere else in Lincoln. The food is pretty good, but just typical bar fare. The beer is reasonably priced and reasonably cold! Only complaints would be that the carpet inside is pretty nasty and overall they could renovate a bit, but you don't come here for luxury anyway. Also, they are very hesitant to cancel leagues even when it's clear the weather will not allow games to happen. Seems like the owners would rather have you show up and hope you buy some beer/food before you head home without having played your games. Kind of annoying, but understandable. read more

We stopped at Spikes last week after a business meeting in Lincoln. They had Tallgrass Buffalo Sweat and the Goose Island Winter Ale ON DRAFT! I've been here lots of times before during volleyball leagues and the place is packed. Great food, excellent beer selection and friendly and efficient staff, plus 50 or so TV's for all the games. Their food is excellent too, not your typical bar fare. I highly recommend it to anyone in the Lincoln area or driving through. It's near the corner of 27th and Cornhusker, so pretty convenient to I-80. read more

Went here for dinner while in town for work. The place has a great atmosphere. It was packed with people watching Monday Night Football and/or hanging out before or after their volleyball games. The menu has basic bar food and it was overall very good. Great place to hang out with friends and watch a game. read more

Horrible service. My boyfriend and I came on a Friday night where there should be more than enough servers since it's a Friday. But we came in to meet some friends and sat at a table for 15 minutes with no recognition that we were there. Other servers and even a manager looked us in the eyes, very clear we had nothing on the table, and ignored us. When we finally got a server, he came to us two times, to take our order and bring us food. It took 15 minutes for us to even leave. The food is good but the service is some of the most ridiculous that I have experienced. read more

We went there after work this past Friday (16 of us). We sat at our table for over an hour before a waitress came over. Not wanting to just sit there, we went up to the bar to get our drinks. If the manager hellped us, it would also take way too long, and he messed up on a few drink orders. But, if it was one of the bartenders, then it was fast and what you would expect. After being there 3 hours, I left. Not a single glass, bottle or dish was removed from our table during the time I was there. I know it was a busy night, so I was baffled watching the waitresses walk around, stop and put lipstick on, etc. It is like they had two speeds, slow and not at all. When I left, there were a number of tables that hadn't been cleaned off at all from people that were eating before we did. People had to move the dirty dishes if they wanted to sit at a table, and still had not help. And these tables were next to the bar!!!! And even more frustration was the manager and one of the waitresses put sweatshirts/jackets over their shirts and sat at the bar and drank. I have a number of friends that play volleyball there and I will say I used to wish I could join them somethime, when my schedule allowed. Not anymore. I think it is one of the worst ran bars in Lincoln, if it isn't the worst. And that is a shame as the facilities are great. read more

After I had turned 21, like all other sane adults, I tried to get as drunk as often as I could. One of my friends (who only live a block from me) told me that we should go down to the local bar, which was only 4 blocks away. I had never been there before, but it just so happened it was Spikes, and it was during football season, so we went down there for a little Husker football. I was amazed at how many sand volleyball courts they had outside (12) plus they had 4 indoor courts as well. They have a volleyball league almost year round, and it is very heated. Some of the people take the competition a little too seriously, but overall it's really fun. Their menu is fantastic, the appetizers - ranging from waffle fries to chicken wings to nachos; the pizzas - 7" or 14" custom made or from the menu; and their sandwiches are all fantastic. Their is literally nothing on the menu that I would not order. I try to sit at the bar whenever I'm there but no matter where you sit, you WILL have 1. A good view of a TV screen (they have at least 30 televisions) 2. Good service - they are well staffed and never leave you feeling forgotten, and 3. Good company - whether you bring a bunch of friends or go by yourself, I've always had a good time and have met a lot of great people there. read more

Pretty solid "bar food". Nothing gourmet. The pizza is good, but make sure you order it "well done" or you will get a mushy crust that will not hold up to the toppings. Great place to have private parties - prices are reasonable and service is good. read more
