The office staff rarely seemed to know what was going on in the clinic, as I had to call back for prescription refills after visits multiple times. Twice during a 4 month treatment I arrived to appointments they canceled because they didn't have the x-ray or MRI results they had ordered. They overcharged substantially in comparison to my previous medical treatment from Tarpon. I only learned this after another medical provider I was also seeing told me what Epic charges for office visits. Because I was taking pain medication, I had to visit the office every 10 days for a refill, so the bill racked up very quickly. During the course of my treatment, I had multiple delays of procedures (sometimes for weeks) because they said they were waiting for approval from Ben Abbott. I'd call Ben Abbott, who would tell me it had already been approved. The doctors are great, but the front office seemed to be stalling at every turn. When my treatment was canceled by Ben Abbott as it had well exceeded the other driver's insurance coverage, I had been waiting for a procedure for over two weeks. Now almost a year later I can barely even walk. I would NOT recommend this clinic to anyone!

Every time I've visited his office I've been offended by his staff, which includes both x-ray technicians. The staff members are unprofessional, immature and disrespectful. They are all women and most are young. I sat in the waiting room and the girl who was supposed to be my MA called me in by using my last name. This occurred on 2 visits. When I told her to preface my last name with "Mr" she laughed and ignored it. All the women on the staff act like they're at a pajama party. They cluster in the hall, laughing and joking. The x-ray women are especially creepy -- they kept putting their hands on me until I told them to stop. These people simply are not well-trained and Dr. Lo doesn't feel the need to improve them. My primary care physician, my dentist, even my veterinarian all have competent, professional staff who are a pleasure to work with. I cannot understand why Dr. Lo tolerates this trashy behavior in his highly-specialized practice.

Nurses Judy, Alexis, Cody, and PT Keri were extremely personable and attentive to my needs. The anesthesiologist was down to earth and relatable. Everyone there seemed to truly love what they do, which apparently is providing attentive and supportive care. And of course, my surgeon, Dr. Robert Burgmeier - simply the best. From check-in to check-out, the process was almost perfectly smooth and efficient. I am due to return in a month or so for another surgery, but my confidence in that outcome is already well established.

This review is written on behalf of my uncle, who was referred to Dr Hurt by his PCP after noting…read moreincreased pain in his knee (he is an avid sportsman, and was worried that he might have inadvertently damaged something). Dr Hurt requested an MRI, which showed a meniscal tear, and then recommended arthroscopic surgery to repair the tear. My uncle is very fit man with no notable medical issues and no family history of any diseases; he doesn't take any medications and has no allergies. Regardless, Dr Hurt recommended genetic testing for "bleeding defects" to be performed prior to surgery (yes: elective, minimally invasive, arthroscopic surgery). Dr Hurt failed to describe why this might be needed (it isn't, not in any circumstance), what might be done about any abnormalities found through testing, and what the test itself might cost. Several months later, my uncle received notification of services rendered costing over $10,000 from a company called Vantari Genetics. Apparently this company managed to claim most of this ludicrous amount from the medical insurance company, so my uncle was charged the $2,000 that was leftover. After calling the insurance company and getting nowhere, we called Vantari Genetics who gladly settled for $250. Yes, this is a weight off our shoulders, but we are still furious over what happened. We will continued making inquiries and filing complaints to make sure that this does not happen to other unsuspecting individuals.

From the…read moreminute I met him he seemed so interested in what I had to say about my symptoms and previous problems with my knee. After x-rays and an MRI, he certainly wasn't eager to rush into surgery he actually made me take a month to consider the surgery with my family while doing PT to rehab the injury. After 5 weeks, I decided to go forward with my Proximal and Distal Extensor Mechanism Realignment of my left knee. (A mouthful I know) I was in the hospital for a week and he was there constantly with concern for my pain and recovery. He has a special bedside manner where you feel like you become friends with him and you feel confident that he genuinely cares for your well being. Post surgery he was very positive which gave me the drive to work hard to rehabilitate. I'm not going to lie, this was major surgery and I am still healing 4 1/2 months later. That being said, I couldn't have made it through this without his help. He did an awesome job with the actual surgery as I am now walking normal with minimal pain and a STRAIGHT leg!!! No assistance needed and can do most low impact exercises and activities. His excitement regarding my progress was so funny! He would be high-fiving both my husband and I and practically jumping out of his chair from sheer excitement because I could bend my leg a certain way! I would definitely recommend him to anyone that is need of an orthopaedic surgeon, He is a really great man who loves his job.
