We are relatively new clients, having recently transferred from another vet practice. So far I'm very impressed. Have taken both our ancient cat (19 to) and our typically super-anxious Golden Retriever. Both pets have done very well with both the vet techs and the doctors, and the front office staff is outstanding. Wait times are short and waiting room traffic is extremely well managed. Prescribed anxiety meds have helped our dog incredibly (note: we had tried two other meds prescribed by the last vet - to no avail). Bottom line- so far, terrific! read more

I have been a client of this veterinary practice for over 20 years and have had great experiences with all their vets. However, today I called for something to relieve pain in my 16 1/2 year old cat. My cat has been on meds for the last 11 years and is so good about taking them. In fact, when I place his crate on the floor, he runs into it. Currently, he has a bad infection and is on steroids and a topical anti-bacterial. He has never exhibited so much pain before, so I called to get something for his pain. Their part-time vet, Greg Krane, refused to give me anything except a steroid injection (the cat is currently on steroids) or an antibiotic injection (the cat is also currently on an antibiotic). In fact, when I became aggravated at the thought of my cat feeling this way for the weekend, Dr. Krane hung up on me. My recommendation is any vet except Dr. Krane is exceptional. However, if you are unfortunate to need help on the day he is working, go elsewhere. He is the most incompetent, rude, unsympathetic vet I have ever had the displeasure of dealing with. read more

I have another older review under an account I no longer use. It is a 5 star review. I wanted to update that review but can't access it so am submitting this 2nd review, which is very different from the first one. I feel they don't provide details about procedures, results or plans to address problems. It is frustrating dealing with them. The pet owners need a partner in BCVH and I feel as if they are not viewing the relationship between vet and owner as a partnership. Our pets are our children. In addition to their medical services, I would like more details about plans and follow up. They have to understand that we may not know what to do or what to ask. We know our pets and are doing our very best for them. They are the best I've found but I wish they were also warm, pleasant and helpful. It's the soft skills and the communication styles that are lacking with BCVH. read more

There were no "inaccurate and misleading statements". You may be referring to the fact that I did not have pay for X-Rays at the ER since they felt bad that you charged me for unusable X-Rays but that really has no bearing on the interaction between you and I. It doesn't matter if the next place charged me $0 or $200, someone at your practice did an inadequate job and I shouldn't have to pay you for that. Perhaps I should have been made aware immediately that you don't have a skilled surgeon or someone who can properly take X-rays. Maybe you should invest in that instead of a "manager" who calls around other hospitals like a wanna be detective and writes long misleading responses on Yelp. read more

I have been taking my puppy here (all during Covid) and have never been face to face with a vet and stay in the car during the visits. I feel totally fine and at ease because the vet calls me once my pup is inside and updates me on everything and answers all of my questions. The vet techs have all been extremely friendly when they come to my car to get my puppy. The staff is very responsive to my emails/texts and always address my concerns in a timely manner! Dr. Herschman (im probably misspelling it) is so kind over the phone and has been super helpful with my pup. Overall very positive experience so far! read more

The veterinarians there are great! Very kind and caring! and I have gone there for 20 years. Sadly the down side of the practice is their Office Manager Eli. He is very arrogant and rude. He transmits what he wants to say, but really lacks the skills and training on how to listen to others. read more

The Bristol County Veterinary Hospital is just that... a veterinary hospital not just a veterinary office, a place where you will have all your pet's needs met. BCVH is exceptionally clean, bright and comfortable. Staff receive on-going in-service training several times a month and it has convenient hours of operation: early morning and evening hours too! All team members are knowledgable and familiar with your pets (they not only their names but temperaments and personalities as well). Laurel, one of the great receptionists, knows how nervous our oldest dog, Clyde, is and schedules him accordingly... Upon arrival, Gillian, the vet tech, constantly comforts and reassures Clyde, always going the extra mile! The costs may be slightly higher than average; however, the attention to detail far out-weighs the difference in price. Sometimes there is a wait, again the extra time spent when needed is much appreciated. Estimates always provided for procedures and surgeries. My husband and I have been a clients for many years and have gone from puppy's first shots to having to making the difficult decision to say 'good-bye' to our beloved16 year old 'baby', Samantha. We've also dealt with having one of our dogs diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma, which was devastating and completely unexpected. The BCVH team helped us seamlessly navigate the treatment needed with NEVOG (oncology specialist in Waltham, MA) to extend Bonnie's life with quality and dignity far beyond the initial time frame expected. During this emotional process, Dr. Ripp ALWAYS took the time to carefully and fully explain processes, procedures, and medications. We are forever grateful for the support provided during this period. If you are looking for high quality, state of the art care for your pet.... This is THE place. We did a lot of research of choosing the best vet for our newly adopted dog. The vet techs here were extremely kind and comforting to our puppy. We thought our first bill was a little high but we're happy with the vet we had seen. The third time we had a check up for our dog and were faced with another bill, over $500. We have spent $1,500 within the past few months, all paid upfront. On our last visit we asked to make a partial payment since our puppy had an unexpected infection and were faced with another big bill. The vet tech said she would talk to her manager which she replied "if you don't pay in full now, your dog is no longer welcome here". A good friend mentioned their dog had gone to this hospital and was extremely unhappy with management. I should have listened to that friend and urge others to NEVER go back to this establishment. It's a shame the lack of management overshadows the great vet techs who work there. read more

I would not recommend this vet now. At one time I would have said this was best vet. During the time frame of end of May to July 3rd , 2020 we felt totally disregarded.wasnt concerned about questions asked regarding symptoms of 11 year old Boxer Asked about not walking far, answer"I don't walk as much either as I used to". Ask about excessive panting, answer"dogs feel heat and humidity even with a/c on" I'm not concerned" Ask about coughing , answer" I'm not concerned with pollen, heat, humidify,,". Asked a medication change,.... on the to do list . Was told vet would call, after 2 days never got a phone call, even after calling to say he just was not himself. Needs a sonagram done,calls 4 hours after being dropped off, saying not qualified to do it, even after being told from emergency vet you were able do it there. Tell me lungs clear, end up at Tufts to find out how sick really was,. So much for your "not concerned" answers. Would never advise anyone to go to bristol county vet Maybe one day you to will hear "not concerned" and understand the situation we faced. read more

If there were any way to give more stars, I would. The receptionist, technician, and especially the doctor were kind, thorough, and patient at a time when we are faced with a very difficult decision. I have been with BCVH pretty much since Dr. Hurd opened BCVH back in the early 1990s. At that time, Dr. Hurd helped me through another difficult time even though she was not my pet's veterinarian. Since then we have had 3 dogs and 2 cats cared for through BCVH and could not be happier with the care, attention, and genuine love our animals have received. We recently adopted a dog and was given a lot of options for local vets to choose from to get a free exam. We chose this placed based on a good reviews and wanted the best care and to take advantage of the free visit and to establish a good relationship. The vet assistant was fairly knowledgable, but she recommended purina dog food and royal canin, which if you do research, contains some bad stuff like chicken by product! Royal canin is also more expensive than blue buffalo, which is a very good brand fyi. The vet was just too dry for our taste barely explaining anything in good detail we asked her. We had questions on a few vacinations and she hardly provided enough info! One of the vacines is actuaslly highly recommended for small dogs, which we have. We found out later when asking our friend who is studying to become a vet. Not sure if we got subpar exam and advice due to the fact we didnt have to pay for it?! Thats too bad if so. I certainly will not return and actual pay for this lack of help. I could have looked up the info and advice we received on google for free! It would have actually been better advice like choosing a good dog food brand for example and what to look out for in the formula. I wish this kind of review existed before I decided. The last good review was almost a year ago...go figure. Moving on to another vet, learned a leason to do some better research next time! read more

I have to say that I've been bringing my dog here for the past few months. She's a puppy and she's been getting all her shots. I would recommend BCVH because they are very friendly and you can honestly tell they are there because they love animals. They answer all your question and give you the best care for your pet. My last dog I had for 18 years until he past away 3 years back and I wish I had gone to them back then because the vet I went to on his last few days were truly awful! read more

We have been coming here for two years and are very pleased with the service. Yes, it's a little more expensive than other vets but it's worth it. Dr. Richards is great, she really takes her time with the exams and you don't feel rushed. Noticed a lump on my dogs front leg and decided to bring her here since I was disenchanted with my other Vet,they gave me great advice and even offered help and support in making a decision.Everything was well explained to me.Veterinary care can be very expensive and they made sure to thoroughly explain every detail before proceeding. I had taken my dog there for about 2 years and actually bordered him there once. Clean, friendly, seemed compassionate. But..... when my dog injured his knee and needed an emergency visit , I was told to take him to the animal ER in Seekonk. It was on a Monday, during the day and they could not fit him in. They said I could drop him off in the morning on Tuesday and they would do there best to get him seem that day. So being a client there means nothing. Took him to Povar in East Providence, very happy there. read more

I bring my dogs in every 6 months for their exam. I really like the service from this vet. Their prices have just skyrocketed within the past 2 years. They used to give a multi-pet discount for bringing in both pets in one appointment. They've taken that away. Their prices have just gone so high. I can understand a $1-2 increase here and there, but some things have doubled. They also seem to have become very product driven. Before you could look around and see just a little display of the flea and tick stuff, now it's everywhere. Vector this, vector that, have you seen our new vector?? No, I don't want Vector, I use frontline, can I still get it? Oh, there's some staining on the teeth, it's not time for a dental, but buy our dental food and rinse and brushes. I brush my dog's teeth and they are fine, just stained. I want my pet taken care of, not endorsed like a race car. I wish they would reassess their practice. Sadly, they are losing me as a customer, I'm now looking elsewhere. Too bad, I really liked them and traveled a distance to see them. read more

The place is clean and doesn't have that medicinal smell to it that I've experienced elsewhere. The Doctors really care about pets and what going on with them.
