Just adding a quick 2025 update. The staff is still 11/10. The normal bartender is ultra friendly and helpful, everyone loves her. Regular customers are all pretty respectful of one another. You still get random families with wild kids (sometimes wild adults lol) but you just live with it. They have string pins now. Compared to a few other string pins I've bowled on, these are pretty well tuned. They care about bowling here, which is nice. I appreciate that they allow you to reset the pins yourself on the lane, saves everyone time. Still my favorite house to bowl at in the area. read more

Spins Bowls has taken over Mardi Lanes many years back, with a full renovation plus additional upgrades including an expansion of the arcade section and bowling lanes, and also more games to choose. There is also Laser Tag and Axe throwing for a mix. We always have a great time with no issues, as customer service is wonderful and there to help, especially if something goes wrong in a bowling lane. There's a lot to provide at all ages, and there's no way you can't miss it. read more

It was pretty packed when I went in. The staff was helpful. They have a big selection of bowling balls you can choose from to play your game. I played two games and enjoyed every minute of it! They have a cool arcade except when I went, the Mario kart game wasn't working, which was pretty sad. They have a lot of games to choose from! They also have some cool prizes. read more

Axe throwing has become one of my favorite things to do! I'm going to put together a girls night just so we can book our own lanes and toss the AXE! Spins bowl is an amazing family oriented entertainment center with bowling, arcade games axe throwing and great fun! They also serve adult beverages. There is so much stuff to do there and I always have an excellent time. And who can pass up wine and pizza pies! It is always very clean and from my experience the staff is friendly! It's an average place. We went to the arcade a few months ago (winter time, peak surge in COVID) and there were no safety protocols in place. The bowling alley, arcade, and axe throwing areas were very crowded with no distancing procedures in place. Seemed like everyone wanted something indoor to do in the winter. No one was wearing a mask and people were leaving their food and drinks all over while bowling and axe throwing. I don't know if I have just become more sensitive to disease transmission since COVID, but this place just felt.....a little gross. Also, some of the arcade games were broken. Wasn't crazy about the prize selection either at the arcade. It's an OK place for a few hours of entertainment which is nice, but don't expect anything special. Noisy and crowded, but at least it's something to do in Poughkeepsie! read more

I recently had a 5 year old son's birthday party here and it was great. We were assigned a young lady to help us, I can't remember her name but she was rocking. It was absolutely ideal because the kids couldn't really break anything, the music wasn't overwhelming and honestly, the food was good. We didn't need anything. She was always available and standing by for Juice and soda, cups and straws. It was honestly the smoothest party I've ever had. We ordered a veggie platter for snacking while everyone was bowling and it was really well worth the money. It had easily a pound of just fresh asparagus on it in addition to other veggies. It was the perfect thing for mom's and kids. The only thing that was difficult was actually setting up the party. I had left several messages with the actual Spins and emailed Corpoarate twice but nothing was moving. I eventually stopped in and talked to Corporate after a staff member got them on the phone for me. I dealt with Laura Palmiero and she was wonderful. She answered every question I had almost immediately. It was as a pleasure dealing with her and my son's party was a huge success. The price was also beyond great. I was expecting it to cost so much more but I had a party for 10 kids and I fed everyone including the parents, I'm pushy that way, and it was well under $300!! It was so easy and I was a guest at a party I was hosting!! Unbelievable!! Thanks guys at Spins and thanks to the wonderfully helpful girl whose name I can't remember, long black hair, maybe 17? Don't waste your money on this or any other games in the arcade. The scoring does not work, the attendant admitted it hasn't worked for some time and they won't refund you. He said the game technically still works so they can't refund anything. I said to put an out of order sign on it, but I guess they just like ripping people off. I gave him a scenario, if you just put your money in and shot a bunch of baskets and it shows you didn't make any baskets when you clearly did how would that make you feel? Went there on Friday night to bowl with my family. The atmosphere and service was great. The food was decent for Bowling Alley Food and we all had a great time. I loved the TV screens as well as the boards that give you advice on where to aim to attempt to pick up your spare. We will definitely try the arcade and laser tag with the kiddies on future visits. From the perspective of a 30 year bowler, who bowls 2x a week, year round in leagues, I'd like to say that is exactly what I DON'T like about it. Sure, upgrading is nice. New lanes and approaches are nice.. New furniture, updated pro shop and bar... But it doesn't feel like a bowling alley. It feels like a family fun center. I suppose, if you're going to have a birthday party and get ice cream on the approaches, this is the place to go.. But, if you want that family operated, classic feel-good vibe of a bowling alley, you'll have to go to Fishkill or Bowling Time in New Windsor. Is it a deal breaker? Well, I live 5 min away, and I'm bowling at Spins in a scratch league on Wednesdays this season, so let's let the next 32 weeks decide that. I'll update my review based on this 2017-18 league experience. Update Jan 2018: Well, the scratch league puts out a challenge shot. Not a tough low ratio sport shot but not a typical house shot. The problem is the twister pins and the kicker panels. The carry in this house sucks! Control the pocket all night, but leave the back row like it's going out of style. High flush pocket hit? Well, hope you have been practicing your 4-9 (or 6-8 for you damn lefties) splits. At any given point during league play, you'll see a few 10 and 9 pins standing out there. I don't know if it's the twister® pins down there, or the kickers, but the carry is cabbage! Pro shop run by Bill Morrison and Dave Meyer, it's the place to go if you want a fresh layout. Update April 2018: New wood pins to replace those synthetic twister sticks. Carry still sucks! Just be prepared to average 10 to 20 pins lower than any other house around the tri state area (bowling time is tough, because of the wood surface, however if you can find the pocket, you can strike...) read more

The old typical bowling alley, layout is gone! Party, good time central has moved in. LOVE what they did to the place. My daughter has bowled since 5 years old, and did a high school tournament here some years ago. 2 years ago, complete modernization & party friendly design remodel, including a private party room with its OWN lanes, and major arcade fun zone. In all the bowling centers I've gone to, this one is probably one of the nicest I've been too. Highly reccomfnt you check them out for kids parties, or even office/ corporate events. read more

Place exceeded our expectations. The pictures don't do it much justice. There are arcade games, axe throwing, pool, and bowling of course. For five people to bowl on the Sunday we went it came up to about $33 bucks! Only thing is they charge you by time not games so we paid for 45 minutes and even though we didn't finish our game the lights went out and we had to add more time to keep paying but that'll cost you more, not by much though. The food menu was a bit limited, not as many options so if you wanted a snack it's ok but not to eat eat. But overall really nice experience! I've been coming here for years, last night we came for a birthday and we wanted do the axe throwing. We do this, 1 maybe 2x a year. Every time we pay to play the guy who teaches you to axe throw has a real bad attitude with us. I'm not really sure what his problem is, but last night made me wanna never come back here. He literally said we were wasting his time, and he wanted to leave but since we were there he had to stay. I asked him "isn't this your job? Only because he was giving us a bad attitude. It was 10 pm, we had 6 players at 15$ a pop, mind you we had just played an hour of bowling for 12 people on 2 lanes that were not functioning properly. (15$ a person) we couldn't even finish our game due to the lane malfunctioning. We spend alot of money here to have an enjoyable time, I don't need an attitude because I'm making an employee stay later than he expected. If you don't like it Charles, find a new job. I grew up in bowling alleys, ran the junior league with my father in Red Hook. In my late teens and 20's bowled in 3-4 leagues a night. Met my husband at Mardi Bob in Poughkeepsie, when bowling was bowling. I have been bowling since 8 never fell a single time in all my years at any house. Since spin bowl took over and I started on a Monday night league I fall on a regular basis. I'm either sticking or sliding on the approach. Why???? I use a leather sole bottom and throw a 15lb. I've slowed myself down from 18 to16 doesn't matter I'm falling weekly. My last injury from falling on the lanes had me out 3 weeks, latest fall Monday night has pulled my neck out and lower back once again. Why is sliding to throw no longer the way anyone can bowl on these lanes? This is not what I would call a bowling alley, it's a fun arcade like in Lake George. Big mistake removing all the carpet not convenient when it's wet outside. Floor are a nightmare for league bowlers. Would be helpful to have the carpeted corners filled with benches for bowlers instead they are filled with crap not being used. Seating area needs the huge useless table in the middle removed. For league play we need to tell them to turn the music off. It is clear that spin bowl is not at all about bowling it's all about taking money from kids and parents on crap arcade games. Just another problem with the younger generation. Shameful, sad environment not at all what a bowling alley is all about. Miss the old days of 48 lanes. read more

Spins Bowl is a local-ish chain that took over all the bowling alleys in the area. They bought out the old Mardi-Bob Lanes and turned it into a real winner. Spins has way more than just bowling. They also have a fully stocked arcade, a bar/lounge, and a laser tag arena. Everything is a little on the pricey side, but if you split costs with friends it ends up being a pretty good deal. The lanes are modern and clean, and video screens play music videos all up and down the lanes. There's new seating and tables around the lanes which make it really easy to pack people in and store your stuff. The bar/lounge area has very nice pool tables, and a few other party games like Large Scrabble. This place definitely isn't the dingey 1970's-esque hangout it used to be. The food is top-notch. The fries are great, and the optional nacho cheese sauce puts them over the top. The sliders are fantastic as well as the mozzarella sticks and onions rings. They also have a soda pitcher that has endless refills. If you couldn't tell already, I love this place. read more

Wish it wasn't so crowded every time I try to go BUT, I was going here when it was still Hoe Bowl Mardi Bobs and it has been through a major renovation since then. Nice and clean, the greatest arcade you could hope to find in a bowling alley as well as laser tag room that I have yet to try. No problems with the machines, no glitches or lost money. My party and I were kicked out of the bowling alley mid game when they closed at 10, terrible customer service,we were celebrating a birthday, and we were not even allowed to finish the game, we had only bowled one game prior. Been to the one in Wappingers, what a total transformation from its predecessor. They cleaned the place up. It's not your fathers bowling ally anymore. When you walk in you get the 2017 feel, not the 1975 stuffiness. We went on a weekday, rented the lane for an hour. Only $26 for the two of us, with shoe rental. My son and I bowled 4 games, a fifth would have no doubt brought on a blister on my middle finger. After the hour concluded we sauntered over to the arcade. A massive room filled with games to earn tickets, kind of like a mini Dave and Busters. I checked out the food, no more dust filled, grease stained Pepsi sign board with misspelled menu items. A gourmet menu filled with interesting selections. Missing was the old days Of Pepperoni pizza slices sprinkled with cigarette ashes. Loved my experience here, can't wait to go back!!!! The party coordinator for this location did a terrible job with "coordinating". I specifically asked her about booking a room for my sons surprise birthday party. She informed me that there would be an additional charge per child. I agreed to the extra charges. As this was my first time ever booking a party with them, I did not understand that the contract did not reflect what we discussed. The day of the party, my family arrived early to set up and found that we were being placed by the bar, not in the private room. There was another family already booked for that room. Poughkeepsie staff did a good job trying to accommodate but the party coordinator should have done better. When I emailed the coordinator she tried to apologize on behalf of the Poughkeepsie location. Which again was not their fault. She then proceeds to offer me a 10% off coupon for the next time I book an event. I have also tried multiple times contacting her supervisor or someone with corporate and have not yet received a response. Extremely disappointing for the amount of money I paid for the party. read more

Professionalism Is Something To Be Desired... I went to Spins Bowl in Poughkeepsie this past Saturday evening with my daughter and her cousins and I have to say the place was very nicely remodeled since the old Mardi Bob days, but the some of the staff was extremely rude and unprofessional. When we arrived to the bowling alley there was a young bearded man and red haired woman with glasses chatting casually behind the counter. When I approached the man stopped and greeted my family politely; whereas the woman began to look irritated and rolled her eyes at me. This was very off putting. After about 45 minutes of bowling we decided to order food. After about 15 minutes our little buzzer thing started to buzz, so I went back up to pick up the food from the counter... Lo and behold the waitress that came out was the same rude red haired woman as before. This time she was blowing/popping bubbles with her bubble gum, which completely disgusted me. I have worked in the restaurant industry for over 20 years an never in my life have I ever seen someone that works with/around/handles food, chewing gum and blowing/popping bubbles. That is completely unprofessional, unsanitary, and rude to customers. You would think that was the end of it, well let me tell you... after we bowled, ate, and played around their arcade (spending well over $200) we left and as we were walking out to our van yet again the same red haired woman was outside sitting on the ground smoking and talking on the phone cursing and using vulgar language. The owner of this establishment should be aware and ensure that the staff working with customers knows proper conduct. I will never come back to Spins Bowl Poughkeepsie again and will not recommend it to anyone period! read more

Came bowling with some women from work, was very excited because I haven't gone since i was younger. Staff was great, clean environment, family friendly and just overall a good time. Except from the curly dark haired supervisor woman who gave me an extreme attitude when I came up about about our lane and how our ball wouldn't come back. Once a month I come here with my job for Sunday bowling . This Sunday, we had multiple issues with the lanes and lost balls. Alot of the people in our group were not able to bowl for over an hour and we usually get in two games in a 3.5 hour timeframe. We asked for compensation since everyone sat waiting for them to fix the issue and we were told " it they bowl they pay ", by the manager himself . They are usually very helpful but today they have forgotten what customer service is . The only thing that worked for us today was the food service . read more

My daughter had a birthday party at Spins and I cannot say enough positive things about the experience! We lucked out by having the private room to ourselves, so the kids had plenty of space to roam around. The space and arcade were immaculate. Breanna, our party host, was extremely helpful and attentive. Our biggest issue was that no gluten free pizza was available by their pizza vendor so we had to supply this ourselves. Other than that, a great time had by all. A lot of positve feedback from both kids and parents. I would highly recommend Spins for birthday parties. read more

Beautiful location but it is impossible to get corporate on the phone to book a party! I tried for three days and got nowhere (left messages, received no call backs) and ended up going somewhere else. Last year I was able to go to the location and book the party directly with the employees. What is the point of being required to call corporate if no one is available to take our calls? Customers shouldn't be required to ask the location to call corporate on their behalf to book a party. read more

When booking this location, back in January 2017, we were confident that it would be ideal for the large number of children that would be invited to our daughter's 6th Birthday(final guest count was 28). The day of the event we arrived 25 minutes early which was when we met our party host.... the only party host for 28 children. While he did his best to accommodate our large group I found myself (along with several family members) having to play "host".... I had to request soda/juice be brought out several times , the pizza which was to be served at 2pm did not appear to well after 2pm.... and only after I and several family members had to go to the front desk numerous times... of which, by the way, were not very helpful nor concerned with the fact that the party was severely understaffed. I spent the majority of my daughters party trying to track down these items which were included in the party package. We had also purchased the additional "arcade package" and were extremely disappointed to see that the majority of the younger kids games (skee ball, etc.) were not working or being worked on. Needless to say I was quite upset. While the party room was very nice and clean, the fact that I had to run around and miss a lot my daughters party is unacceptable. Needless to say we will not be having any future parties at this location, so disappointing. read more

My boyfriend and I just left your Poughkeepsie location. We arrived at 640pm and were told we would be put on a wait list but the wait would be about an hour. So we agreed and put our names on the list and went and had dinner, came back to the counter and were told that it would still be another hour. A little annoyed we agreed to stay and wait another hour. In the meantime we played arcade games. After an hour I went up and asked how much longer, the girl at the counter said it would be less than five minutes. When we came back five minutes later we were told that it would still be 35 mins. A total of 2 and a half hours of waiting for bowling..... we had enough and decided to leave. I asked to speak to the manager and all the gentleman could offer me for a wasted Friday night was 5 credits to the arcade. Absolutely ridiculous, I am extremely upset with your business and will be sure to share with my community to ensure that no one else wastes an entire evening. All of this could have been avoided if your employees were honest with us from the beginning. read more
