Friends, Spirit Nails is my tried and true go-to mani/pedi salon. I highly recommend that you see Helen the owner and the talented Lee for your nail needs. I've been going to Spirit for the past two years and their services have been consistently top-notch. For the decades that I've been getting mani pedis, I've never been treated with such care. Not once have I been nicked, rushed or felt that they were distracted. Helen is bubbly, kind and engaging; Lee is so sweet and patient. Both make me feel special and pampered every time. Great service and professional, but communications problems unless Helen is there. You cannot get here from any other direction than northbound Aurora Ave. North, past 185th street, then go about 1/4 mile and turn into the driveway by the plaza there. Usually there is no wait. Be very specific with what you want and get them to tell the price up front so there are no surprise charges. read more

The reason I am writing this review and gave them 4 out of 5 stars is because a few weeks ago after a disaster at a different nail salon, I went to Spirit Nails to have them fix my nails. They were incredibly nice and got me right in. They listened to exactly how I wanted them to fix the nails. They paid very close attention to what I was asking. They were able to fix them exactly how I wanted them to. Not only that, but only charged me ten bucks to fix them. I was super grateful. To me, the fact that the lady paid so close attention to what I wanted, that alone is enough reason for me to want to go back. The pedicure was definitely what I paid for, they don't follow directions well and they were not gentle even though I told them my feet were sensitive. But the reason why I left one star was when they were done waxing my brows (after telling the lady to fix them again) she left the hot wax on high heat for to long and BURNED and scarred up the too of my eyelid!!! came in with existing gel polish that i asked to be soaked off over the phone.. well the gal just peeled off all the gel and i wish i would have stopped her and left because i left with weak bendy nails covered in questionable gel that they had issues with but didn't explain anything to me. not only has the gel chipped off within days but 4 of my nails have have broke due to them being damaged.. i was maintaining moderate length for quite some time.. oh also she specifically asked if i wanted the shape changed and i said no, she then proceeds to change the shape completely and make a couple of them crooked? very odd experience. do not recommend. read more

While nail salons make a cottage industry out of having slightly cringeworthy names (Nails and Joy--which was barely the former and definitely not the latter; Klassy Nails, Foxy Nails, Cute Nails, Savvy Nail Salon, Shadow Nails and Savor Nails being a few of my favorites) Spirit Nails is somehow even a little weirder and funnier. That said, I got a very meticulous and thorough pedicure here; the woman who attended to me really went to town on my leathery runner's feet and just went all cheese grater on that action. Which is fine because I really do not think I have any nerve endings on the soles of my feet due to a childhood enthusiasm for shoelessness (when I was 9 or 10, I even stepped on an upholstery tack once, embedding it in the ball of my foot, and did not notice it until my evening bath). So, you know. While I do my best to keep the rhinoceros-like outer layer of my feet flayed and smoothed and lotioned into submission, any foot fetishists out there will want to just keep moving...I can offer you no consolation, foot fetishists. They did not offer those cheapie complementary flip-flops when I clearly needed them, and the space is small, so if chicks are doing acrylics you're in for some strong, probably lethal, odors while you're in the chair. But I'll be back for the great job and the more than fair price. read more

If you're looking for a spacious, posh salon clad with brand-new leg massaging leather chairs, then Spirit Nails won't be your cup of tea. However, what they're saying to each other is not in English so what they're actually saying is always a mystery. There are only like 4 employees so you get to know each well. This place is always busy and sometimes they can take forever. But here's the deal breaker. This is by far the longest lasting pedicure in the area. there are only two beat up massage chairs for pedi's and only two stations for nails, but for the price ($30 for a french mani and pedi), and the lasting paint jobs, this place wins out every time. read more

It's clean, pleasant, friendly, and affordable, but not a "high class" spa by any means. The manicures and pedicures are a killer value (I think it was $30-35 for both) because they're great quality and inexpensive compared to most other places. I asked if they could get me in at 5 but they couldn't get to me until 6. So I asked if I could come in early to start soaking. I'm so surprised by the poor reviews below. I've come to this place now 3 times and the only drawback is the fact that Helen and Lee need more technicians so they can actually take a lunch break. These ladies literally work 7 days a week. My nails have always been perfectly on point with zero smudges or flaw's, Helen continuously asks for feedback stating if I don't like it she will fix it. I'm glad that this place is filtering out the asshole clients, these are a couple of the most tenderhearted ladies I've ever met, if they have 2 seconds to take a break and eat something they're offering it away to share. Also, if you're trying to make an appointment at any nail salon that accepts walk in then YOU are a moron for getting upset that your appointment is delayed, learn your lesson and walk in when you have the time. Came here today for my regular manicure and pedicure. I have been coming here for fifteen years. I liked the salon when Sandy owned it. When Helen came, the salon was modernized. Helen invested in a much wider variety of nail polishes, Shellac and SNS dip nails. She upgraded the equipment and chairs and offered longer hours, Sunday appointments and waxing. I really look forward to seeing both Helen and Lee. Lee has treated me like a treasured friend for all these years. She takes special care in my pedicure and is so careful with the details. She gives a excellent leg massage. I prefer shellac nails and Helen does an excellent job. My nail polish lasts for a long time, which is great because I am quite hard on my nails. The price is very reasonable for the services I receive; I used to go to Gene Juarez and pay three times as much. The service is better at Spirit Nails and the polish here lasts longer. I have come to Spirit Nails for more than 5 years. Additionally, I have 4 daughter's who I have brought to this salon for the same time span. Services we have received are everywhere from acrylics, waxing and pedicures. In the past 18 months I have brought two entire bridal parties to get their nails and toes done. This was all under the ownership of Sandy. Last week I found out there was a new owner Helen. Today I had two of my daughters go to get their nails (both new sets) done for my wedding TOMORROW. Helen failed miserably and uncharged outrageously. No designs, no extras, regular paint and NOT shellac. $38. Then she asked my one daughter if she needed change. By the time I picked up daughter number 1, her nails were already screwed up because Helen sent her out of the store with wet nails. I go immediately to the salon, daughter 2 has no idea what is even going on with her nails. Helen gave her the exact shape of daughter number one and very long (without asking, and uncharging for the length- that wasn't requested). Again, she was going to use regular paint. For a wedding. For weddings, every nail tech knows shellac due to the importance of durability. When I tried to speak to Helen about my concerns, she immediately started shouting at me and blaming my daughters. I absolutely told her she was taking advantage of my kids- teenagers. Shame on her. This experience has taught me that Helen lacks the ability to have any tact with customers, cannot handle any type of criticism regarding services and overcharges as if she was running a full service spa in downtiwn. The ONLY saving grace is that Helen's daughter was able to translate and a very sweet girl. read more

The last two times when I left, after sitting there for quite awhile, my big toe nail polished smeared and looked a mess! I do not know what they are doing differently but, after recently reading an article about sanitary conditions and the ramifications of the opposite, I think I am going to look around for a new place. This makes me sad because we all use to have a great time kind of like a family when Sandy owned it. Wow where I do I begin...I recently moved here to Seattle from Las Vegas I decided to choose this nail shop being that this was very convenient to my home. First time I was a walk in so I understood the fact that the nail tech was busy so I patiently waited being that she is the only one working. First experience went okay and she stated that it would be better to make an appointment next time which I did...Second visit I made an appointment arrived about 10 minutes early she was currently working with other customers finishing a pedicure so I understood I had to wait which was fine because I was early what bothered me was 2 additional "walk in" arrived and this nail tech continue to make me wait to serve them and I had an appointment so after nearly an hour of waiting she starts my nails I notice how she is rushing my nails the outcome was very sloppy and rushed I didn't complain I just told myself that this place will never get a dime of my money on top of that she asks her customers for tips and her attitude is very unprofessional and rude I wouldn't recommend anyone to this disgusting unsanitary nail shop I also noticed that she does not clean any of the pedicure bowls that's what especially turned me off from even considering a pedicure so if you are looking for a nice clean professional nail salon this Spirit Nails is not the best option oh and let me not forget she charged me $10 extra for a normal fill because my nails grew longer I have never been treated with so much disrespect I feel like because I'm African American this nail tech looked at me like my money was garbage So if you are African American this not the place for you if you want a good clean nail shop check out NT nails they treat you like royalty and it's a clean environment! read more
