So... I went in for a full set. The lady who did my nails did not clean them first, did not have me wash my hands, she did not clean or prep my nails in anyway this happened yesterday around 4:00 PM she was rushing my nails because she wanted to close. She did not give me the shape or length I wanted!!!!! I am extremely upset and will NEVER be going there again. The drill hit every single one of my fingers multiple times. Horrible experience. I payed her for what she had done, and left I didn't even want her to paint them. I will now have to spend more money to get them done somewhere else to get them fixed.‍ read more

I'm not sure what it is about this place but every time I come in I just feel out of place. If you want your nails done for a bargain this is the place. I reccomend bringing your own nail polish, theirs just don't last. They're also very chatty so you never know what they might be talking about. At one point I actually got stabbed with her tool she was using and bleed over my nail. I was a little nervous about infections because the place wasn't entirely the cleanest but nothing happened thankfully. It probably should have been a discount after her repeated "sorry's" but it's pretty cheap either way. I haven't been back since. read more

I left Kim's Nails mad at myself for even paying for such horrible service. Before even going to the salon I called and asked them if they knew how to do a certain type of acrylic nail called a French 'ombré. The owner Kim said that she did. When I got to the salon it was apparent to me that it didn't matter what I asked, or if she knew how to do it. She would of told me that she could just to get me in there and get my money. I gave her the benefit of the doubt, and tried to show her a short you-tube video that showed all the steps to do it. Anyone trained in that field would be able to do what I wanted if they watched the video. She showed no interest and seemed annoyed. All while acting like she knew what to do. I also showed her a picture of what the outcome was supposed to look like. When I tried to tell her she was wrong she tried to tell me how I didn't need what I want. When I went to checkout and leave she charged me more then the price she told me on the phone. I was extremely unhappy with the service and the outcome. The nails were so thin. They ended up breaking in less than a week. I will never return there, and strongly advise anyone that wants anything specific to stear clear of this place. read more

I went in to the nail shop for a pedi and full set French white tip, I showed this picture to Kim . She said ok. As she's doing my nails she cuts me with the file and I started to bleed. I see that the white tips are way too large and it was not what I requested. She offered to cut my nails shorter and she ended up cutting one pinky nail off . We started bargaining prices and she told me that I would have to pay extra to even have them fixed or took off. I was shocked at that point . I put my coat on, and Kim demanded money from me then and shoved me twice when I stood up and I felt as if I was being held hostage, a man at the door was standing with his arms crossed. I call the police, they arrive and they tell me to pay Kim $30, Kim shows the police the footage but I believe she deleted the most important parts. I work hard for my money and I'm left with this, and I am never going here again and I would advise you not to go here unless you want shitty nails! read more

She use one coat of acrylic and when you ask for a second coat she gives an attitude and charge you more, doesn't even buff your nails after the acrylic. I've been going to Kim's for 10+ years and love it. I see Lily (I think she's the best!) but most of the women who have worked there a long time also do a great job too (Like Annie). The owner Kim has her own clientele who love her... even though Kim's style is not my personal favorite. Everyone likes theirs nails different - so I tell them exactly what I want (if I need them to cut on the sides, or cut short... be specific). If you are looking for a sterile spa like experience... then go to Gene Juarez or James Alan and spend $90 for a mani/pedi. If you want very sweet ladies who work hard, fit you in without an appointment, keep lots new magazines on hand, do a great job and charge a FRACTION of the spas... then Kim's nails is for you. Note - a previous poster complained about needing to tip well and them asking for payment before the polish. They do that so you don't wreck your nails getting your money out of your purse (DUH!), and tipping good is a must. These ladies work for tips, just like your waitress at a restaurant. If you leave a crappy tip in a restaurant - the waitresses will remember that too. These ladies deserve a good tip - and in return they will take REALLY good care of you. read more

Ive never had a owner refuse service before. I asked for a shellac-gel polish change and she said no I had to get a manicure. I did not want to get a manicure because my nails were already nice and clear I did not want to. She made it seem like I had to. So I get the manicure done and she rushed me and cut my left side. The nails were also uneven. The place was very dirty and small. The lady made my shellac nails very bumpy. I told her there was a piece of hair in it and she was in denial. One of my finger nails is missing some of the top coat and it's very obvious. There are a bunch of lines. Worst mani pedi I have ever received. The girl working on my feet cut me TWICE- her polish job was less than average. Small details like first using freezing cold water to fill the tub and then HOT, as in toooooo hot to rinse them off. I think a lack of experience is what is happening here. Also, when your customer says "ouch" twice don't repeat it and then laugh. Not impressed, very disappointing. I got shellac on my fingers and if it lasts seven days Ill be surprised. I've been to this place twice. My first impression when they walked in was not impressed, very small color choice, but the prices seemed alright, until they had me seated in a massage chair that they didn't tell me they charged extra for (who does that? shouldn't it be the norm??? the regular price they advertise is for a pedicure in a desk chair) There were only two workers, the majority of the time, they talked in a different language and were not friendly at all. Soon after they had started my manicure and pedicure, they asked for payment, before they were even done. When I left a very small tip, I started to notice their actions changed. They started talking faster, doing my manicure rushed, and finished soon after that. While I was waiting for my nails to dry, they acted stressed to close the shop and soon they rushed me out the door. Months later, I returned, because the usual place I went to was booked for the day. As soon as I walked in, the lady recognized me, and again, they asked me half way through the mani and pedi for payment. This time, I left a large tip, even though I was very unsatisfied with their service once again (based on unfriendliness, quality of work, environment, etc) As I was leaving, the older woman there said snidly, "Thanks for the real tip this time!" Oh wow where do I start with this place. It is the most unsanitary, bad work, crappy costumer service.n Please ladies do not let their prices fool you! They may have some cheap prices but the work is horrible!!! I have lived in the shoreline area for over 10 years they have been around for awhile but I tell you the work is BAD!!! The place looks so old they try to remodel but all there equipment is out dated. They don't even have uv light so you can dry your nails instead is this old fan. I have gotten a pedi twice here and a full set and a fill. The pedi horrible what is it about some nails salon that just think they can file your toe nails and not cut. The paint job was messy and still had bits of my old nails polish on my toes. as for my full set you get a free design on two nails when you get a full set it was okay all she did was put white tips and one of my nails ended up breaking within a week and half so I went back for the fill but it just sucked. I cannot explain the hardship i have gone through to find quality nail technicians that perform from both the heart and skill. Again mom's nails were like Grizzly Long. The new owner looked like she was doing a competent job for someone, but I was given a manicurist who seems untrained. She applied ONE coat of polish to my nails. I wonder how long it will last. I got the standard mani/pedi for $24 & these ladies did not disappoint. I had one lady doing my nails and the other doing my toenails. They were very thorough and precise and my nails look amazing! I was in Kim's nail and had the quality of my full set was horrible. My nails were uneven and a different shape from nail to nail. I asked for shellac polish over the acrylic and was told "no" and that a clear gel coat over the regular nail polish would be just as good. I could tell the lady was very rushed. Within one day of getting them three of my nails broke. I have had acrylic nails plenty of times and have only ever broken nails a couple times. To have three break in one day is ridiculous. I went back in and ask them to fix them and was they were unfriendly about it. After that the gel clear coat starting cracking. I refuse to ever go back. I went to this place today on a sunny afternoon thinking I would be greeting professionally. Unfortunately, I ended up waiting 25 minutes because there were customers already there before me, which was totally fine. The problem and major disappointment about Kim's, while waiting. #1 After finishing with the customers, two of the ladies working decided to leave and go to star bucks and didn't say a word to me, after knowing why I was there to begin with. The employee who was left didn't speak much English and wasn't interested in the question of concern I had about the changing of the towels that were hanging on the back of the chairs where I was going to have my services done. These towels had already been used by the customers who had been sitting there previously when I came in. So I waited until the two ladies returned from Star Bucks (next door). When they returned, the other lady started talking to them in their language, I gathered it was about the question I had about the TOWELS (apparently something was understood). As I proceeded to inquired about the towel issue, one of the two women told me that she changes the towels every morning and that that is the only time. Then she told me that I can go somewhere else. Duh! The experience was horrible and a complete waste of time. All three women were quite rude with no professionalism or concern for the appropriate standard for sanitation. Sadly we are neighbors but I won't be visiting there ever again. It really sucks! read more

I will be honest, they are very sweet and the price is very reasonable compared to other nail joints. I came here to try it out because I'm new to the area and this establishment is in walking distance to my house. With that being said, you pay for what you get. I opted for shellac nails and a regular pedi. When picking out my toe color, I can tell that many of the polishes were old due to the consistency. She cut my nails the way I liked and spent time doing my cuticles. The girl doing my pedi nicked me a couple times when cutting my cuticles, but I understand...it happens sometimes. As a nail salon, however, the products that you carry should be in good quality. The shellac nail polish she used had a broken brush and was old and almost used up. I can tell this by the thickness of the product and the bubbles it left in the finished product. She tried her best to fix out the bubbles, which meant she took out the cuticle cutters and scraped away the dried nail polish and proceeded to repaint. She did this on 4 of my nails, two of which I pointed out. I swear I'm not being picky...the were several bubbles clumped together so they were very noticeable. The uv machine they used was old and made a noise that was not familiar to me. I even had to tap my fingers a few times to trigger the light sensor. After this was all done, I decided to tip her generously for all the time she spent on me, although not perfect, there was a lot of effort spent. I went home and found couple more little bubbles that I didn't notice in the light inside the salon. Exactly 4 days later, on one of my nails, my polish has chipped off. Shellac should last at least 2 weeks. I will say it again, you pay for what you get. The reason other nail salons cost a bit more is due to their up up keeping. It's to replace old products, polishes, machines, and just general up keeping of the facilities. I spend the extra money because all those are important to me. I had a very nice lady that worked there for yrs and she did your toe nails right this last time i went in I was sooo disappointed. I know the girl was new but she didn't speak any english at all, its ok if they don't speak well, but not at all is really hard to get the service you want. First of all she burnt my feet in the water then turned it totally cold. She didn't ask me if I even wanted a spa chair but put me in one anyhow. The chair was broken and didn't vibrate or massage well at all, and the jets didn't work well at all either. I told her I didn't want to pay for the chair that I didn't like. She never cut my toes cuticles like I wouldn't notice, and didn't file them either. When I was done they always ask if you want a flower, but I wasn't asked,and when I told her she forgot my top coat on my toes, another girl told me she said that I needed to bring my own top coat if I wanted it! I have never Had That happen to me ever in a salon! I also noticed that instead of writing her work in an invoice book she handed the money right to the owner NO WONDER all the good techs left, if all they are only being paid is the tips they receive!
