Hubby and I taking a walk in the canyon

The atmosphere is amazing!!! Just love the quiet time my husband and I spent there together. I can't wait to go back.

    Delicious breakfast

Ramsey Canyon Inn is a beautiful property in the peaceful natural setting of Ramsey Canyon. My husband and I have visited the canyon to hike and birdwatch a couple of times and wanted to check out the B&B that's right next to the parking lot, so we booked a weekend stay. We have stayed at a couple of B&Bs, and Ramsey Canyon Inn mostly stacks up well against the others, with delicious breakfast and pies and a comfortable room. However, we wouldn't stay here again because our priority is hummingbird watching, and they don't fill their feeders in the morning. Overnight, the nectar is drained by bats, so they're completely empty by morning, and they stay that way until late afternoon. Since Ramsey Canyon doesn't open until 8 or 9, depending on the season, this means we couldn't get up early to watch hummingbirds before breakfast. And during breakfast, the kitchen window has a fabulous view of a feeder, but it was empty, so no birds could come drink from it. We were so disappointed that our only time to watch hummingbirds at the inn was in the late afternoon and early evening, but even that wasn't pleasant due to the amount of mosquitos in the courtyard by the fountain. We'll be back to the canyon and maybe for a slice of pie at the inn, but we'll return to other B&Bs for hummingbird watching.

Living in Tucson affords the opportunity to see a wide variety of aviafauna. While there are many species common to SE Arizona, Ramsey Canyon is a special spot to see many species lingering from south of the border. Hummingbirds are the lesser common birds in the USA but Ramsey Canyon hosts ample forage for many winged visitors. There is one hummingbird feeder located immediate out side the breakfast table plus many others. Speaking of breakfast, the lodge provides a sumptuous start for the day's venture. Should you not be inclined to hike up the mountainous traits, there are chairs and benches in both front and back yards. Feeders are hung in spots to best attract the birds. Bring your camera and field guide but if forgot it, you can borrow one there.

Such a special place...if you're planning to visit and experience Ramsey Canyon, why would you stay anywhere else?! Under its new young owners, Scott and Alice, Ramsey Canyon Inn is destined for greatness. The location is the most desirable setting in the canyon, right at the end of the road and the entrance to the Nature Conservancy's Canyon Preserve. With numerous feeding stations for hummingbirds, woodpeckers and titmice, as well as for Coues Deer and Gould's Wild Turkeys, it's a paradise for birdwatchers, hikers and nature lovers if all ages. Or just relax and escape the heat...a mountain brook rushes past, and there are numerous places to just sit, read, gather and reflect. It's all delightful. And if you're planning a wedding, I can't fathom a better venue. So here's a typical perfect day: start out with Chef Glen's amazing gourmet breakfast (see photos), hike the trails up the canyon and enjoy all the things you've come here for. Come happy hour, sip a glass of wine and watch hummingbirds. Then head down into town for dinner. Stop in if you're just passing through, it's very friendly and Scott is sure to welcome you.

A nice relaxing stay at a peaceful B&B. Whether you want to walk, hike, or just site and enjoy the birds, hummingbirds, sit among the wild turkeys and deer, you will have a wonderful stay. The breakfast was delicious and free homemade pie at 4 pm.

The food was excellent, and I was astonished by the fact that the chefs worked very hard to accommodate an absurd number of dietary preferences among the guests. The service was warm and friendly, and the decor and landscape features were obviously designed to make our birding experience extraordinary. My room was very large, the full kitchen nicely stocked, and a wonderful assortment of K-cups were available for the coffee maker. The locking screen door was such a plus, I left the door open every night and fell asleep to the sound of the tiny stream. And a "pet" Mountain Gem was hanging around my feeder all week. Thanks for a terrific vacation! Dana Hiatt

    Best room in the house.

Wow! Small yet so accommodating. A birders MUST stay. Although I am Not a birder, I must say it's still a great rest stop. Flora and fauna for everyone. Redwood trees in AZ? Yup!! Fruit trees, Herb bushes and a quiet respite from any city. Scott and April took the place over in the last year and are elevating the game. Hired a first rate chef. Glen does daily pies and serious breakfasts with adjustments for dietary restrictions on breakfast.

My Husband and I picked the Ramsey Canyon Inn B&B as our wedding venue. Scott was great and made us feel really welcomed from the first time we met him. We explained to Scott exactly what we wanted and he made a wedding package that fit our needs perfectly. Communications with Scott up until the day of our ceremony was exceptional. Anytime I had any questions he would respond within reasonable time. He gave us a list of recommendations for a decorator/planner and that's how we met Alexis from AW events. She was also easy to work with and understood our needs. She created a special package for us as well. Both Scott and Alexis worked great with us. I was really nervous when it came to our wedding day.. I felt like I was missing something, I worried for nothing because Scott and Alexis took very well care of our family and friends. I would like to add we also had the Ramsey canyon bnb cater for us and the food was delicious! We got the taco bar and also ordered a charcuterie board. Our family and friends also stayed in the BNB and had breakfast. Everyone loved it. I really have nothing bad to say about the place and their staff. They were all very pleasant. Thank you Ramsey Canyon Bnb for the most memorable night!

We came here for our 37th anniversary at the recommendation of a friend who had stayed here a few years ago. Upon arrival we were greeted by a large flock of wild turkeys and a few deer. Scott and April welcomed us warmly. We registered and were given a tour of the facility and were advised that fresh pie would be available at 4 pm. Our room "Rufous" was inviting and comfortable. After settling in and taking some photos we partook of the pie. There were several to select from. The blueberry was outstanding. Our evening was very quiet, peaceful and relaxing. Breakfast, served family style, was delectable. After breakfast we hiked Ramsey Canyon to the overlook. Can't wait for breakfast tomorrow morning.

We spent a peaceful, serene, beautiful two nights at Ramsey Canyon B&B. April greeted us when we got there and gave us the full tour of their fabulous bed-and-breakfast. We stayed in the Magnificent room with a balcony overlooking the private yard. Such a lovely place. Chef Glenn fixed some fabulous gourmet breakfasts and his pies are amazing!!! Sitting on their front porch was so relaxing and peaceful watching the wild turkeys, squirrels and deer. We can not wait to come back!

Can you spot the hummingbird? This is the salted caramel apple pie

Although we have not yet stayed at this B&B tucked away in beautiful Ramsey Canyon, we highly recommend the chef made pies. I've never tasted any better pie. We tried the peach custard and the salted caramel apple. Both were amazingly delicious! I will dream about these pies

This place is one of the most serene and amazing stays in all of Arizona! First off all, it's tucked into a slice of heaven; especially in the Fall. The colors just pop and are reminiscent to the New England Fall Foliage with shades of red, orange, yellow and green everywhere! There's wild turkeys, deer and other friendly critters all around! Secondly, that staff are all attentive to details, very friendly and courteous and you feel like everyone knows who you are and TRULY CARE about you and your overall experience. While our party didn't partake in the breakfast, we did get one of their fresh baked (to order) pies. The pie list options were endless, but we settled on a blueberry, goat cheese and basil pie. It sounded different and quite tasty and it was seriously one of the best pies we've ever tasted! We'll definitely be back and hope to do a group stay in several units! Kudos for operating such a wonderful and unique getaway!!

There are rolling grassy hills that are golden in the winter and green in the summer. A lot of people don't realize that the temperatures down here (due to the elevation) are much like northern Arizona in the winter -- so it's a great alternative to "going north" to cool off in the Summers. Temperatures rarely reach 100 on a Summer day and it cools to the 60s at night -- a luxury we don't get in the Valley! Our most recent visit (February 2012) was windy but gorgeous. No jackets required! Toni, proprietor, has started a gluten-free / allergy-free bakery and makes human AND dog treats! I can vouch for the human treats being delicious -- I especially liked the quinoa cookies. And, there's a lot to do in the area. No less than 11 winery tasting rooms are near by (there is a limo service you can hire if you can't agree on a designated driver). Or visit Parker Canyon Lake which you can walk (5 miles), fish or rent pedal boats or kayaks. Patagona Lake is larger and offers a lot of amenities and both offer camp sites. But, why camp when you can stay at Whisper's Ranch?! And, finally, Kartchner Caverns are a convenient stop on your way back to Phoenix but be sure to make a reservation! Southern Arizona, and particularly Whisper's Ranch, are great alternatives to heading north for a quick getaway!

The owner has many food allergies so she can prepare gluten-free and allergy-free foods for guests. The location feels remote, but it's less than 30 minutes from a large town (Sierra Vista) and 6 miles to a major Army base. We've stayed in many B & B's and this one is tops by far, and very far from "basic" accommodations. They do ask for advance reservations - the owner mentioned that her husband died suddenly, leaving her with many responsibilities, to include running 5 businesses with little help! We got a tour of the animal sanctuary next door, and we're so happy to patronize a business that supports such a worthwhile charity. The location is peaceful, near the vineyards, and surrounded by the National Forest. Hard to find accommodations like this for this price! Highly recommended for a peaceful get away. No tv's means you get to reconnect with your traveling companion!! It was wonderful!
