I called 3 days prior to have my bike in for its annual service and inspection on Saturday. I rode and hour out of my way to get to the shop and hour early. When I got to the counter, they said they couldn't take my bike because they had a technician out and they had too much work for that day. That's funny because they don't take appointments... I bought a 2017 road glide from got a 30 day warranty. It rained all that month so I bought an extended warranty for $2200. They told me to bring it in on Wednesday here it is on Friday. They still haven't even looked at my motorcycle Not even diagnosed. STAY FAR AWAY FROM SPITZIE'S HARLEY DAVIDSON SERVICES DEPARTMENT !!! Yesterday I was charged $591.00 dollars to chang out my speed meter with a fuel gauge component . A teenager with a couple of tools could due this in an hour and a half . The only reason I had Spitzies install this was because I bought this bike brand new from them this year and did not want to do anything myself while it's under warranty . I had previously inquired about having a stage one service performed on my bike at Spitiezs. I was informed the service charge would be for approxitmently 5 and a half hours work . An $800.00 dollar service charge to provide a service that takes 2 hours at best . This service requires simply putting on new slip on exhauts covers and changing the air filter and retuning . I called Brunswick Harley Davidson service department in Troy,NY and they will be doing this service for me for $180.00 dollars . In my opinion Spitzies service department is nothing less then a thieving criminal enterprize . STAY FAR AWAY ! read more

This is my experience with Spitzie's Harley Davidson, Albany, NY service department. I owned the first Chopper shop in the area in the 60's and 70's and know how to put a bike together. Ihave been buying from Spitzie's since 1978. Also, the service writers Jared and Mike I believe his name was were great to deal with but that's as far as it went. In June I had developed a front fork oil leak in my 2004 FXD. I tore the front end off the bike but I also knew I wouldn't be able to finish it as I was going to be laid up for about 6 weeks for a hand operation. I brought the brake side front for tube completely disassembled to have it rebuilt. I also brought in all the parts to rebuild it with except for the Glide and Slide bushings. They were 3 weeks behind. It didn't matter as I couldn't pull a clutch handle with the operation yet. After the 3 weeks I get a call that they had to order a bushing and a new front slider was needed at $180.95. They would not put on a used one I had access to so I had to have them order it. Well about a week goes by and I get a call it's in but someone sent the wrong one. Being formerly in business I know it sometimes happens and no one likes that. It's frustrating for both the dealer and customer alike. They did order it and it came in about a week later. I get a call 6 weeks to the day that's it's all ready to be picked up. I'm also told they need my other fork leg as they have to put a spacer in it. I'm also told their TECH says there are different springs inside. I know this is a lie as they are the original springs and how would know when you only had one. This sounded fishy but I brought it in. I'm happy as the hand is healed and I want to ride. I go there on the Thursday to pick it up. I questioned the bill. I know it doesn't even take a half an hour to assemble the fork tube as They didn't have to put it on the bike. They charge according to there computer is a 2.5-hour job but since there was only 1 it would be 1.25 hours. There computer is also figuring time to put in on the bike, taking it off and putting the wheel back on none of which they had to do. They had taken my other fork leg to have a spacer in put in. I told them not to and give it back to me. I than looked at the bill and said what the hell is this. Luckily, I know about bikes and knew it was wrong. If I didn't, I'd have gotten screwed. I'm charged for 2 oil seals $29.98 total at $14.99 each when there is only one and I had brought it in when I brought in the fork leg. Then there is a charge of $3.99 for a spacer seal, $8.95 for a cover case which were brought in. Then I'm charged $13.90 for 2 Glide bushings but there is only 1 used. Here I am bitching about all this but they go by what their "TECH" says they used. The bill got corrected to my satisfaction and I take my fork tubes and sliders home and say it's nice out and in about an hour or two I can ride after I assemble everything. I put my fork legs assembly in the one side and then the other side. I snug up the pinch bolts until I get the fender and axle on so its aligned. Tighten down the one side and go to tighten the other side and the fork leg assembly is about 2" longer. Take the legs off and sure enough its about 2" longer. I pull the top cap off the one they just rebuilt and what do I find? A piece of cut off PVC pipe in it. I take it out and the spring is just laying in the fork tube. Why would you use PVC pipe? After awhile it would wear and fray and you'd have pieces of plastic in your fork tube. The only time I ever used spacers they were metal and used when we extended the fork tubes. If the fork tube was correctly put together the spring would have been out of the fork tube and you have to apply pressure to compress the spring as you get the fork tube nut down and tightened. Now another trip to Spitzie's. I show them how one is longer than the other. They said they would have to have it taken apart and find out why. I'm also told they would rebuild my other one. Also, there would be no charge. I called them the next morning and told them not to touch my other fork leg as I don't trust them. I got a call the next day and said it was ready and both were done. I go down to pick them up and they are sitting there. I put them next to each other and they were the same size. I said I wanted the fork nut pulled so I could see it there was another piece of plastic in it. Jared takes the leg and they guy who rebuilt it comes out with it and says there was nothing wrong with it and hands it to me. I'm than told it was missing a plunger tube. I told him it was there when I brought it in. Again, I'm told it wasn't so I guess I'm a liar. Then he tells me I should be thanking him. For what? Having 2 fork legs assemblies' different lengths. Then he gets pissed and tells me "DON'T TALK TO ME LIKE I'M AN ASSHOLE" in front of people. read more

Dropped my bike off Tuesday for an oil change and inspection. They told me it would be 2-3 days since they were backed up which is understandable. I spoke to someone on Friday and was assured that my bike was going on the lift and the work would be done by the end of the day. After sitting on hold for 30 minutes Saturday with service, I was finally informed that nobody has started to work on my bike. Do yourself a favor and bring your bike somewhere else. Purchased $350 + in clothing for my husband for Christmas, he didn't like the Jean jacket so I figured I would return it and have my card credited. The clerk told me I could only exchange items that are purchased at spitzie's no credit or cash is returned. That wouldn't have been a problem if they had a decent selection of apparel . Obviously they must not be doing well if they have to hold onto all the sales they can get, lesson learned no matter how bad the weather is travel to another Harley dealership! Spitzie's is a top notch Harley shop. I didn't buy my Harley from them and I do my own work on it, but dealing with them for parts and gear is great. They've been extraordinarily accommodating and helpful. The parts counter guys are awesome. Overall they're just a very customer-centric business, which is key in building loyalty. They've certainly earned mine. The only time there was an issue with something that I bought, they were quick to make it right. You can't ask for much more than that. I would love to say they were helpful but can not. The engine oil light came on while riding in upstate New York. Went to Spitzies to get the bike checked. The service writer never wrote it up. my 2017 Street Glide is still under warranty with esp. . Was told in is probably electrical and was told it would take to long to check it out. Still explaining the issue to the service writer a mechanic I think came out waving his arms saying something about it wasn't a mechanical issue. ( I explained it was electrical and showed pictures of my instrument cluster of trouble light being on with bike being ridden (I do not advise this it dangerous to do). Left with out bike being checked . Called my local dealership sent pictures and found me a dealer in Brunswick. Just picked up my 06 FXDWG and couldn't be more pissed. Dropped it off to get a new tire and a new speedo put in. Needed some other things done as well. They called me and said it was done that someone test drove the bike for the front end wobble and it was go to go and everything else was completed and fixed. Went to pick it up and was told that they couldn't test drive the bike because handle bars are to high and unsafe... They did only customer pay work no warranty work. Had to go to another HD to get my bike fixed properly. Do not go here they will just take your money with out fixing the bike. AND The other HD dealer said the axle nut was loose. They can't even complete what they started. Could have been a serious issue if I rode my bike!!!! read more

I can't say enough good things about this place. I purchased a 2014 Fat Boy Lo from these guys. They gave me a fantastic deal. My bike has tons of extras and Steve Smith really helped me pick out the one that suited me best. I even shopped around for better bikes/deals and couldn't find one that matched. They are really something in the sales department. The bike has been mechanically sound and an absolute pleasure. As we all know, a motorcycle can be a fickle beast at times. Last night while I was riding my head light went out, and my directionals and controls on the left side were acting up. I have a long ride I'm supposed to go on today. I was pretty nervous that I'd have to take my car to camp instead of the bike if I couldn't get it fixed in time-not to mention it's the weekend before memorial day and all I could think of was the shop is probably packed. I called up and spoke to the gentleman at the service desk and he told me I could drop it off and they'd have it done by Monday. I explained to him my dilemma, and to my surprise and extreme appreciation they got me in right away, fixed my problem, UPGRADED MY HEADLIGHT, and handed me my keys!!! All in about an hour and a half. While I waited for my bike, all of the sales staff remembered my name. They asked me about my bike and my experiences riding it. They even remembered my wifes name, who was only there once. They all were happy we were there. Extremely accommodating folks. Bottom line, if you're shopping for a bike, new or used, go to Spitzies. You won't beat the deals and they will take care of you like family. Great people read more

Service department tried to install third party parts, not Harley original parts, without my permission. I consider that fraud. And I only found out because after they had the bike for 4 weeks, after giving me excuses that they couldnt get shipping tracking number, that they admitted it wasnt coming from Harley.....then when picking the bike up they informed me that the part was not actually faulty but it was mis-diagnosed by a junior technician. A bunch of explanations how getting approval for non Harley parts is normally required....but I sincerely doubt that, then it switched to their belief that these parts are "better" than Harley originals. They kept making dishonest excuses, and I lost a month of summer riding in upstate NY because they "mis-diagnosed" a problem that wasnt even an issue. They didnt charge me for the original service issue why I brought it in and inspection, but I won't trust them in the future after this for 300 bucks off on labor. I called Spitzies because I wanted two new tires on my Road King along with other service. They didn't have the tires in stock and couldn't give a date when they would be in as they were back ordered, so I bought the tires somewhere else. Spitzies refused to put them on because I didn't buy them from them. I have been riding over 40 years and this is the first time I have been refused service. They lost me as a customer. The sales team the parts people are under eduacted with new bikes products.
