To my surprise, there is a clean looking swimming pond with a cute red slide into the water from the raft out there. Bonus! I was not equipped to swim myself today so we made our way over to the splash pad. It is on the smaller side but new, in great shape and not busy at all. There are a few benches for adults to sit nearby while the kids play. I also noted open pavilions with picnic tables and a small playground. Definitely worth a trip for small kids on a hot day. Low key. Note: there is a small fee for non town residents

The best part about it is that you can choose what you'd like to do if you aren't interested in the dry rides at all you can pay for a one park ticket and stay at the waterpark the entire day. In addition to this if you won't be going to the waterpark and will only be watching your child in the dry park you can get in without a ticket. Which I believe is a phenomenal policy that a lot more parks should begin to implement. The food is good and so are the sweet treats that you can find around the park. The lake is also a nice spot to relax with shallow water which again is perfect for children/new swimmers. However, it is very small and can get crowded.

And here we are, at Splish Splash, a place I took a road trip too when I lived in Queens. Then it seemed like it was across many states. It's funny how you perceive things as a kid versus as a grown up. Now this place is no more than 30min from my parents, but I still haven't been here since becoming an adult and I'm glad we did. The place has changed so much. Better layout. More family friendly. We rented one of the luxury cabanas for the entire day. It cost $1200 and allows 32 people, but holds 40. You have to buy additional wristbands at $20 a wristband. You also still need to buy tickets. The sales office was wonderful to work with and answered all my questions and we got the group rate for our day at the park. As much fun as we had, and as great as the space was, which we plan on doing again, there needs to be more support in the Cabana areas. At one point security asked one of my guest if they should be there, and when they showed them their wristband they continued to follow up with the cabana staff, meanwhile, people kept coming into our cabana trying to use the area for themselves. Where was security then? The food and drink service also lacked. We were instructed to order off the QR code which were on signs throughout the cabana, but half of them didn't work. We had to wait over an hour and a half for our food and some people didn't get their drinks. Once I expressed how long we waited, and how we felt overlooked the staff gave us a few additional canned margaritas. By this time it was late afternoon. Most of had to leave because the kids were exhausted. Moral of the story: this place has had a major glow up, I'm hoping that the staff and service follow suit as they continue to grow. This is a piece of nostalgia on Long Island and I would hate to see it go away anytime soon.

They also of course had huge slides for adults. I couldn't find areas to eat at maybe I wasn't looking hard enough. But yeah, just go on a weekday because on a Saturday, the lines were super duper long. The reason why I took off one star is because not only do you have to pay for entry into the park, but you also have to pay for parking, which is another $30 so altogether it was $60 + tax.

Crystal-clear water + sunny spring day = perfect hike…read more Spent a beautiful spring sunny day at Wadsworth Falls State Park, and it did not disappoint. I took so many pictures of the clear river. It's seriously that stunning. The swimming water vanished. We hiked the Wadsworth Falls Loop (3.6 miles, easy, great waterfall views) and also checked out part of the Main Trail. Trails were in good shape; just a little mud here and there, but totally manageable. Bonus tips from my visit: · Dogs welcome on leash · Free for CT-registered cars; $10-15 for out-of-state · Restrooms, parking, and picnic tables available · Get there early on a sunny day to beat the crowds If you love clear water, peaceful forest walks, and two distinct waterfalls, don't miss this spot. Already planning to come back with an all-terrain wheelchair for a friend (you can reserve one in advance). Would I go again? 100%.

Although this park has ample signage against swimming, the Coginchaug River is…read morelovely on the eyes and ears, and being centrally located, Wadsworth Falls is a great local escape. If you have the right footwear in winter, it's a place for a rewarding hike! Boots and grips and the occasional side stepping is good for your winter trip. Mind the tracks, or crews tending the still in-use tracks, then enjoy the lovely views of multiple waterfalls, some frosted over, but water audibly rushing beneath the ice. Starting out, we didn't see the blue trail marked on the yellow and orange junction map, but the trails were well-marked with vertical tree blazes, so if you take the orange, yellow, or blue trails, you should be in good shape. If you don't have the time for a decent hike and just need a restful stop, large falls are just below the parking lot (those no access signs on the trails don't kid!). All year, enjoy! There are zero facilities here, and the only amenities appear to be accessible recreation and a dog waste station beneath the parking lot, but you aren't in the middle of nowhere. Pack in, pack out, and enjoy as much or little woods as you like, and enjoy the peaceful sounds and sights of the many falls.

There are public bathrooms at the boathouse and note that there are often events (like weddings) at the actual structure. This happens all nights of the year (or so it seems and by that I mean random weeknights is when I often stumble upon a wedding). It used to be PACKED during COVID. You will almost always find parking in the main lot but occasionally if there are kids sport games on the fields, and lots of kids on the playground, and boats being launched (boats plus trailers take up two spots)... well then you will maybe need to park in the overflow lot. I'm not sure if both of those lots are ever simultaneously full but there is a little parking garage a tiny way up the road by the Glastonbury library (if needed). We walked through a trail which was located off Main Street and past the dog park. Then we walked towards the main entrance which was where the picnic pavilion was located.
