SPLAT Action Art Studio is a great creative spot in South Pasadena Parking was easy with free parking available, plus additional parking in the back, which is always a big plus for families. Before the class starts, the instructor gives a clear demo, and throughout the session, there are screens showing techniques step-by-step, so kids can comfortably follow along and adapt at their own pace. Nothing feels difficult or intimidating. The instructor quietly walks around, making sure each child has what they need and offering support without interrupting their creative flow. They're attentive, calm, and truly professional. The pricing is a bit on the higher side, but totally worth it for the quality of instruction and support. Check for promotions or deals. Overall, it's a relaxed, well-organized space where kids can enjoy creating freely and parents can feel at ease. We had such a great experience and would definitely come back

So much fun for the whole family!

This was SOOOOO much fun for the whole family! What a great concept. They give you the space, the paint, and all the tools you need to GET CREATIVE! My 10 y/o daughter had so much fun with us, this would be such a sweet place for a kids birthday party. You need to check this place out!!!! Loved that they had video suggestions as well as other people's examples for you to look at. You don't need to be super artistic or creative to do this, which was a huge plus!

This studio is a great place for relaxation and fun art experience! The staff was very friendly and the place just gave out the easy-going and cozy vibe that I haven't felt for a long time. Don't expect a sit-down-and-paint kind of art here, because it's more like splashing paints, using air guns, etc. They gave me color and equipments, demonstrated a few techniques and left me on my own to do my thing. The studio is quite quiet when I went and there was no time rush at all, but you can get a very pretty art in like 10-20 minutes. There are examples and videos in the studio that you can just copy. If I go again, I'll do purely airgun paint, it's like 5 minutes and it's very pretty. Unfortunately I saw that too late haha!

We've been to SPLAT 2xs and both experiences have been fun. First we went in October as a family for our 3yr olds birthday. It was awesome we had an hour to create our masterpieces. No one was in the studio so we had the entire studio to ourselves. It was fun watching our littles create and use their imagination. All of the tools they have to paint spark creativity and thinking for kids. Of course the little blow dryers were our girls favorites. (Mine too) We recently hosted our other daughter's 5th birthday party. She had 10 friends who ALL had an amazing time. All of the parents and kids loved the freedom they had to create. Everyone thought it was such a fun and unique experience. Everything went smoothly we had time to paint, eat, have desserts and take fun pictures with Props. Lastly both the owners are kind and so very Helpful. Special shout out to Michael. Always so pleasant, helpful and just a good time. The music is also a vibe in here! We love it and our kids do too! Can't wait to go back.

A friend and I stumbled into Splat after the Farmer's Market and we were so charmed by Michael that we came back the next week and took a class. I love the model that Splat offers. You watch an instructional video and the owners are around if you have questions, but it's truly self-guided and self-paced. You get to follow your own instincts and intuition and just create something fun. You can book by the hour online or even walk in and that includes all the equipment that you need. It's also BYOB, if you wanna sip/nosh on a little something while you paint. Splat also hosts parties for all ages and is definitely kiddo friendly. Michael couldn't have been nicer and I would absolutely come back again.

This place is such a hole in the wall. Absolutely love the staff. Very friendly and explain the rules very thoroughly. Had a party of 10. They let us set up decorations 30 mins before - even let us create our own playlist to listen too! All our toddlers including 1 year old loved. Even the adults. Would definitely recommend!!

We've been to SPLAT on multiple occasions and each time it's been such a great experience! This place allows you to be a kid again and explore your creativity. Not to mention the staff, Michael & JC, who are attentive, kind and just a good time to be around! Would highly recommend checking it out!

Brought my niece here for her birthday, and it was such a cute, fun, and memorable experience!…read more From start to finish, everything was seamless. The staff worked with us so patiently, making sure to help us every step of the way. The machine we used to build the plushie body is super innovative and amazingly easy to use. They also offer a ton of fun accessories to truly personalize the creation. It's such a sweet, creative activity for kids (and adults!), and the plushie quality is so soft and cuddly. Highly recommend for birthday celebrations, special outings, or just a fun afternoon activity.

Our week wrapped up with an unforgettable road trip adventure this summer, just me and my kiddo…read more Booking our experience was a breeze--everything was done online, and we paid around $60 per person plus tax. For my daughter and me, the total came to just under $144. They mentioned some fun accessories available on-site, which piqued our curiosity. Finding the venue was straightforward, although the parking situation was a bit tight. Fortunately, we arrived right on time and managed to snag a spot. The woman who greeted us was polite but seemed to lack the energy and enthusiasm I expected, especially given the price we were paying. I had envisioned a vibrant atmosphere based on their photos and social media presence. As we settled in, a couple arrived, and my daughter, who has sensory sensitivities, expressed her preference to sit at a separate table. Initially, the host was a bit hesitant to accommodate us, even though the space was empty. Eventually, we got started, but I noticed the assistant pretty much took over my daughter's craft instead of guiding her through the process. My daughter is quite capable, so it felt a bit off to have someone do it for her. However, I didn't want to make a fuss and let it slide. As I was finishing up, the host tried to help reset my supplies but didn't consider that I'm left-handed, making it trickier for me to wrap things up. After a bit of chatting with the host, I used some leftover string to add a mouth line between the whiskers to my plushy, only to be told that it went against the rules due to copyright issues. I found it ironic, given their message about unleashing creativity all over the walls! Our surprise didn't stop there. Adding even a small bow to our plushies came with a shocking additional $30 fee! My daughter had her heart set on a different accessory but was told mixing and matching wasn't allowed, which seemed odd when we were paying for the specific items. The host was nice enough, but the experience just didn't match the excessive price. I felt like there were some unwelcome assumptions made, which added to my disappointment. In the end, we spent $174 on an experience that left us feeling let down. While we both loved having a plushy as a memento from our road trip, the difference between what we'd seen online and what we experienced was stark. If the price had been about half of what we paid, we might have walked away feeling satisfied, but for that amount, I would rate it no more than three stars.
