Came here for a birthday party. It is a cool little art studio, where the kids are able to make a painting. However, there really is not any instruction going on here. They spend about 5 minutes going over some rules, and then it's just up to the kids to throw paint on the canvas. As expected, most kids put way too much paint on, so it ends up just being a dirty color blob of paint on the canvas. I wish that they spent a few minutes giving the kids ideas on what to do and tips for what looks good. However, there was none of that.... read more

This was SOOOOO much fun for the whole family! What a great concept. They give you the space, the paint, and all the tools you need to GET CREATIVE! My 10 y/o daughter had so much fun with us, this would be such a sweet place for a kids birthday party. You need to check this place out!!!! This studio is a great place for relaxation and fun art experience! The staff was very friendly and the place just gave out the easy-going and cozy vibe that I haven't felt for a long time. Don't expect a sit-down-and-paint kind of art here, because it's more like splashing paints, using air guns, etc. They gave me color and equipments, demonstrated a few techniques and left me on my own to do my thing. The studio is quite quiet when I went and there was no time rush at all, but you can get a very pretty art in like 10-20 minutes. There are examples and videos in the studio that you can just copy. Such a fun and creative spot for a birthday party! We celebrated our 6-year-old's birthday here, and it was perfect for kids around 5 and up. The little artists had about an hour of paint time, followed by another hour to enjoy food and birthday cake. Everyone had a blast! A quick tip -- definitely wear clothes you don't mind getting a little messy, since acrylic paint stains can be tough to remove. Paintings are left to dry and can be picked up in about three days. Parking is a bit limited behind the building and around the neighborhood, but there are a couple of free public structures close by, so plan a few extra minutes for that. We've been to SPLAT 2xs and both experiences have been fun. First we went in October as a family for our 3yr olds birthday. It was awesome we had an hour to create our masterpieces. No one was in the studio so we had the entire studio to ourselves. It was fun watching our littles create and use their imagination. All of the tools they have to paint spark creativity and thinking for kids. Of course the little blow dryers were our girls favorites. (Mine too) We recently hosted our other daughter's 5th birthday party. She had 10 friends who ALL had an amazing time. All of the parents and kids loved the freedom they had to create. Everyone thought it was such a fun and unique experience. Everything went smoothly we had time to paint, eat, have desserts and take fun pictures with Props. A friend and I stumbled into Splat after the Farmer's Market and we were so charmed by Michael that we came back the next week and took a class. I love the model that Splat offers. You watch an instructional video and the owners are around if you have questions, but it's truly self-guided and self-paced. You get to follow your own instincts and intuition and just create something fun. You can book by the hour online or even walk in and that includes all the equipment that you need. My family, friends, and I visited SPLAT for a fun night of painting, and were blown away by our experience. Can't wait to keep coming back again and again! The studio is super colorful from floor to ceiling, wall to wall, and it seems they've thought of everything to accommodate folx of all ages. My kids (ages 5 and 8) were in the zone and poured all their creativity into their paintings. There were a couple other kids in the group younger than 5, and they also got messy (in a good way). My oldest daughter was much more conservative with her approach, using more of the paint tape and brushes with cleaner strokes.. my second daughter went wild and spattered paint all over her canvas and used nearly every tool they had available. Some folx in our group had planned what they wanted to paint ahead of time, and some waited 'til they got there to see where their creative juices would take them. I was one who waited, and was impressed by how cool my painting turned out! I felt stuck at first, but after a few minutes checking out all the colors and painting tools available to me, I just jumped into it and kept going until my canvas felt complete. No fear. There's so much space in the studio overall, and each station is super roomy. They provide you with so many supplies to experiment with, that the creative possibilities seem endless. The owners are super nice and helpful, and are there to make sure you have everything you need, so you can unleash your inner artist. - Kid friendly? Totally. - Adult friendly? Absolutely. - Great for parties? Hell ya! I'll be booking my youngest daughter's birthday party here for sure. *This review is for my experience tonight.* I came here tonight for a staff holiday party. We booked a private party and had the entire space to ourselves. When I first walked through the doors of Splat Action Art Studio, my eyes were immersed in all the vivid colors on the floors and decor, beautiful art creations on the walls and radiant smiles from the owners, Michael and JC. It felt like I walked through a magical portal where adult me was left outside the building and little me was eager and ready to explore and start getting messy! Everything about this place felt like MAGIC!!! Michael and JC gave us a tour of their studio and shared with us about having our own individual canvases to work on as well as a communal piece for the teachers to work together on. Each station had its own cart of paint and tools to use to create. There are also tv's with music videos playing in the background and we were singing and jamming to the music. There are traditional art tools like brushes and sponges and also some interesting tools like syringes and blow-dryers. Initially, I did stare at my canvas for a few minutes and my mind was working hard on trying to picture what I wanted the canvas to look like and where it would hang in my home and all those other adult-details, and Michael and JC randomly shouted "Don't overthink it! Just go with it and have fun!" I knew that I wanted to use something I wouldnt normally even think to use to create art - so those syringes caught my attention immediately! I thought, "What a fun way to extract paint and then squirt it all over my canvas?!" And, that's what I did!! The first squirt of paint blasted onto the canvas as soon as I heard Michael and JC say "Just go with it and have fun!" For my canvas, I decided to mix different colors in cups and use a syringe to extract the paint and then squirt it onto the canvas from different angles and speeds! It was so exhilarating not thinking about anything and just doing it - being present. Painting and creating art in this way is so pure and magical and it was an incredible feeling to feel like a kid again, without a single worry in the world - just PLAYING. I walked around after finishing my piece and what I observed were just a bunch of big, little kids PLAYING, CREATING, and HAVING FUN!!! I had some time to chat with the owners Michael and JC and I really wanted to get to know them both more, because, it's such a rarity to walk into a space where you feel your passion ignited and being surrounded by such radiant, positive energy - that's the place I want to be, ALL THE TIME!! It was so therapeutic and I truly enjoyed our experience there! I looked on their website and I am ready to come back for another experience with my daughter, and maybe even do a monthly membership here! I cant wait for us to receive all of our masterpieces. We took our 6 year old to Splat, and our whole family had a wonderful time. Michael set us up in a booth and showed us all the brushes, stencils, hair dryers, and sponges and gave suggestions on the best ways to use them. They have TVs on the walls, giving examples of the type of paintings people have done. Our son pretty much went to town with his own ideas, and we followed suit It's a nice open space with plenty of color and friendly and encouraging owners. My time at Splat Action Art Studio was a blast!(pun unintended). This place isn't like anywhere I've been before. It's not your typical art studio with paint and brushes. Instead, you're given a cart full of various objects like spray bottles, blow dryers, beads and templates. Along with this, is a wide assortment of different colored paints. We had a fun time at Splat Studio. my daughter wanted her own canvas and my son and husband worked on a larger one. they have nice videos showing the different techniques you can use. there's plenty of paint and tools to use. Don't wear nice clothes or shoes just in case. Our favorites were the blow dryer and string of beads techniques. It can be a little paralyzing because sometimes it's hard to decide what to do, but it allows you to be free and okay with experimenting. my kids had a lot of fun and want to go back again. read more
