Cool, as cool can get for kids to get a hands-on look at robots! I just had my son's birthday party here, and if there is one advice, I'd suggest, it's that this place is definitely more catered to kids at least 7yrs or older. *Despite what the age group says for our Dinobot assembly From the getgo, the customer service was on point: 150% on a score of 1-100! I was really impressed! I found the site when I was searching the web for original and different birthday party venues. For my son, he loves anything that entails assembling, and gadgets lately. I made my reservation for my party date online with a ten children-minimum at one price, and $25 for each additional child/robot kit. The order form requires $100 deposit and allows you to order a sheet cake ($50 OR SO) They just supply a few birthday banners, nothing to rave about, and table cloths, I brought everything else I'd need. Anytime I needed to have a question answered, they immediately replied to any of my email inquiries within 24 hrs. Alex was especially polite and helpful. I was able to decorate a small narrow space in the back of the store with a party banner, balloons, small icechest, and food and cake. Once arriving the day of the party, I was assisted with carts at my car to help carry everything for th party. I'm sorry I can't recall his name who had helped me, he had glasses, and a goatee, and he was the one who took my parking ticket to have validated at a different location. *Validating is only for the event hosts. Even though I was 20 minutes late, they assured me it was ok to go a bit over the scheduled event times, as there wouldn't be another event after mine. I was so relieved!!! There was just enough room for about 12-20 kids to be seated comfortably. Adults would have standing room. While I was advised parents did not need to stay, I'm so grateful that all my parents were present because most of my younger guests needed all the help they could get. We had about 4 Rolling Robot technicians/staff helping our group of ten children. Overalll, the kids really enjoyed assembling their Dinobots and they are battery-operated motors. Even a week later, ours has stayed in tact *with the help of some double-stick tape too. I created his birthday invitation using metallic miniature party bags and turning them into robots, and placing inside the invitations that Rolling Robots provides on their website. The maps are even enclosed on the invitation. I had to include a map of the store location, though, and valet/self-parking information (even a list of all the venues at Americana at Brand that DO validate as a courtesy) Rolling Robots is located at Americana at Brand, ON Colorado (opposite end of the water fountain) There's a Pinkberry and Jamba Juice *or maybe Juice it Up?.. next to them. If RR is on your left side, then self-parking is immediately available just past them. We were not able to park Valet due to a Farmer's Market going on that Saturday. All my guests received a 50% off coupon too, I believe. While we did not get to battle our robots, there is a small arena displayed and for $3, visitors can also battle the robots already assembled in this arena. When my son upgraded to VERSION 8.0 this was the most LOGICAL place to celebrate. The children BOLTED over to the Battle Arena and went NUTS over the robot battle. They had a BLAST assembling their robots. Each kid gets to take home their own personally assembled robot, making Goodie bags OBSOLETE. After building the robots everyone was GEARED up to eat. We just got back from having our son's birthday party at Rolling Robot Glendale's new location (201 N Brand). And everyone had a blast. All the parents kept saying this was such a unique and great party idea. All I can say is where else would you have a robot making party! I honestly never walked into Rolling Robot to book. I booked my party online and it was extremely easy. Naomi called me a few days before the party date to confirm the number of guests and also to warn me that they were moving to this new location. She informed me of where to park and that they would be able to meet me with a cart to haul our party supplies into the location. The one unfortunate thing which wasn't Rolling Robots fault was that on the party's date, Brand Blvd was closed due to Cruise Night. So traffic and parking was so tough! While driving to the location, Naomi called to make sure we were ok and I informed her that we were close by but the roads were closed. After we parked and was walking towards the location... I see Naomi with the cart! She was SO super friendly and nice! So due to the Cruise Night.. many of my guests were late. Naomi had gotten one of the other staff members to help guests locate the building. Those guests that were familiar with the old location commented that the new location was nice and large with better parking. The party flow was good... guests get to battle bots, then they get to create their own robot, then food and then finally cake. Naomi and her assistants were so patient and informative... the kids really enjoyed themselves (age range from 4 to 7). Even with a couple of kids being late, one of the assistants helped get them up to speed with the rest of the group. I'd definitely recommend this place for a party! Parking: There's a parking structure right behind of Rolling Robots which is on Orange St (Orange and Wilson). For guests, it would be great if there was an easy entrance from the parking structure to the location. Although there is one.. it's mostly for elevator access. But there is street parking. We booked for two hours... I'm not sure if you can book for longer. If there was an option, I think extending to a total of 3 hrs would be better... the kids really enjoyed battle bots. Love this place! My kiddos (8 and 12) started with summer camp last year. They have an amazing program. Everything from coding to 3D printing to VEXIQ robotic building. The kids loved it so much they continued with the after school classes and eventually got on the robotics competitive team. I can't say enough about the staff (Naomi, Chrissy etc) at how knowledgable, fun and patient they are with kids (and parents). =) We look forward to this year's summer camp sessions. A few months ago my son went to a friend's birthday party and came home with a cute little rollie robot that he built at the party. The robot was like a primitive Roomba (minus the vacuuming) that would change directions when bumping into things (although it would fall off a cliff, unlike the Roomba). I was really impressed that my 7-year-old built that thing. He had so much fun he asked to have his 8th birthday party there. I booked the party online and Colin called to follow up with me a few days before the party. He went over what the party would be like. Upon arrival, the kids would be given remote controls for the robots in the battle arena and they could battle against their friend's robots. When all (or most) of the guests arrive, they would start the robot building workshop and build the robots picked out by the birthday child. There would be some time for cake and pizza at the end. The birthday child got a cool Rolling Robot T-shirt, which my son asked me to put it on him immediately and wore it all through the party. Colin suggested that we choose a different robot for our ago group because the one my son picked out may be a little too challenging for the 7-8 years old crowd. We switched from the Tin Can to the Propeller Racer on Colin's recommendation. Several Rolling Robots staff members were around and assisted the kids as necessary. At the end of the 30-45 minute workshop, everyone built a cool moving vehicle. Several parents, myself included, were impressed that the kids could follow instructions and use the tools effectively. I really appreciate Colin's suggestion on the robot because a more challenging robot may not work as well within the allotted time and may cause undue frustration. The boys seemed to have a lot of fun. This morning at drop-off, I saw a kid brought his propeller racer to school for show and tell.... The facility is not that big. It would probably be perfect for 12 -15 kids. We had 18. It worked but some of the kids were sitting at a different table during the robot building workshop and some did not get a remote control during battle time and had to share. But all in all, I thought the robot party was fun (for the boys) and educational. Although it was not cheap, I got to walk away, leaving all the mess behind and each kid went home with something he built and hopefully learned something in the process. The host of the party gets valet parking validation and the concierge at the Americana was really helpful and assisted us with our party supplies and presents. read more

We hosted our son's 5th birthday party here, and we had the best time!! Our son hasn't stopped talking about it and now has in his head to create some kind of giant robot with spare parts from our kitchen. The staff was very friendly and attentive and the 2 hour block of time worked out perfectly. We did have a lot of late arrivals and it felt like we were a little rushed getting started, but once the kids started playing with the robots it all flowed really well. The party started with a demo of some high end battle robots, then the kids all got remotes and got to play head to head in a 15x10' battle zone. After that the staff gave everyone a robot building kit and the kids all built their own little robot. The kit was small and simple, but very challenging to the 5 year olds. Staff demoed and helped assemble until everyone's robots were built. Then we ate and had cake. 6 staff were assigned to our party - helping demo robots, helping with food, asking if we needed any help. Pretty great service. The party package came with pizza, which was very convenient but it was pretty meh Papa John's - some local spot with a solid pizza would beat it in a heartbeat, but who cares, really. :) We brought in our own cake and salads, they provided everything else which made things really easy. Rolling Robots is located at the Caruso extravaganza "Americana at Brand," or the Grove North, as I call it. With all the stuff we were schlepping I was concerned about the walk from the parking garage to the shop, but we used the valet and they produced a bell-hop who wheeled all of our gear. Rolling Robots paid for our parking as part of the birthday package, altogether it couldn't have been easier to get in and out. We got lots of compliments from parents and I saw lots of very happy kids running about, that's what counts! read more

I'd heard about this before it opened. I considered doing this for my sons birthday. It's like Build a Bear with robots. Pricing differs depending on the robot. You can build a robot with a party and then battle them. There's a dog that fetches a plastic piece. It's amazing how happy a robotic puppy is when he has basically a ball gag in his mouth. Coincidence? Theres a few choices.. ducks, beer fetching bots (or so they claim)... and classic Daleks. Parties are a bit on the pricier side. You have to have 10 kids minimum and theres a few selections of robots your kids can make ranging from $20-40 and up. I didn't build one this time but maybe soon if some people want to get together for a big kid party and make robots (let me know) I might do it.. or grab a date or something. This place begs to be something that much more amazing for adults and not just kids.. unless of course they're awesome- at which case, you should bring them here to battle bots with my awesome spawn. My son is turning 8 and he has been bugging us for a big birthday party. I had been to Chuck E. Cheese's, Travel Town, Santa Monica Pier... To my opinion, those parties are a total waste of money, loud and unorganized. I found this place on Google search and did a little research on the web. I decided to give it a try. It turned out to be the best Birthday party I could wish for. The party was held at 6-8pm where the place is less crowded. Kids spent 45 min in building their own robots under the instruction and with the help of the staff. Parents are standing around chatting with each other. I got the chance to know other parents and talked about after school program and what they do at work. Kids are very occupied and absolutely enjoying building a cool toy. When everybody finished, we went to eat and playing. It was a great party. BTW, a few parents went shopping in the Americana while kids are playing. Well, I won't complain, at least they find something they like to do and I don't have to keep them entertained as well. It's a very cool concept for birthday party, especially boys. I know this is mostly a kids store, but I love it! I'm absolutely obsessed with the plush, talking Cyberman dolls from Doctor Who, as well as all of the other awesome things they had for sale. The DIY robotics toy kits made me kind of upset that I'm not an 8 year old boy.. But whatever to that because next time I have some extra money, I'm totally buying one anyway. The only reason I didn't give it a full 5 is because they didn't have a Gundam model kit, which is the whole reason I wandered in off the street in the first place.. But I guess it's my fault for blindly assuming they'd have something like that.. Also, even though the salesmen were really nice, they did kinda make me feel awkward about shopping there for myself as a grown(-ish) woman.. We've been to both the old location at the Americana and the new location. both for birthday parties. both times there was a combination of construction / play and birthday lunch with cake. Jamie and Amanda were super patience as they helped ten little loud rambunctious boys build their bots. We attended a birthday at Rolling Robots and it was really fun for the kids. This is a unique place to do a birthday. The kids get to drive remote control robots and then they get to make their own robots that they get to take home with them. It's super fun. My son kept saying that he wants to go back there again. Amazing things can happen when like-minded kids get together and are guided by passionate and caring teachers! My son has been a part of Rolling Robots for many years, where he has taken classes, summer camps, and has been on two of their award-winning teams - the Vex Robotics competition team and the Inventeam. This was sadly his last year on the robotics team, and despite all the hurdles and difficulties of this last year, his team made it all the way to the semi-finals at the Worlds Competition where they battled against teams from around the world! This is a true Maker Space, where it's chaotic and energetic, and where the kids feel completely comfortable and free to create and build and make a mess. The Inventeam is something that used to only be available at their Palos Verdes location, but they recently started a team in Glendale, and I encourage everyone to at least ask about it and learn about the team. With Inventeam, Bing and George (the owners) are teaching our kids to be innovators and problem solvers. The kids enter invention competitions which challenge them to really help solve many real world issues. They design, make prototypes, design apps, research materials, do cost analysis, and make presentations which are beyond their years. They gain diverse knowledge and learn how to apply it in a real way, a process which just blows my mind! If your kids have any interest in STEM, you need to talk to the amazing staff and the competition team members, and make the trip to visit them in person. read more

We'd read about Rolling Robots online and decided to try it for my son's 9th birthday. I didn't have a chance to visit the store before hand but the website made it very easy to plan the party. Someone confirmed a few days before and made it very easy to figure the logistics and answered the few questions I had. Everything went very smoothly- they were ready for us to arrive, the birthday area was spotless and the employees, all in white lab coats were organized and friendly and great and handling the 10 boys that we had with us. They validated our parking for us, organized a bellhop to help us to the car with the gifts, the food was hot and on time and the cake was really good- not supermarket cake- the real deal with actual strawberries and cream. i went in with my son and asked about booking their space for a birthday party. the guy with LONG hair told me: one room was $295 for 2hrs. the other room was for $275 for 2hrs. then there's the minecraft room for $100. fair enough. i asked if some of the kids could do the robot battle if they didn't want to do the minecraft room/ how much would the robot battle cost - he rambled saying the kids won't be interested in the robot battling.... "they are ONLY interested in the minecraft." and how they haven't worked out the pricing - and walked off. 2 minutes later - a dad who was attending a birthday party there - came out of one of the rooms and asked the SAME long haired man "hey, is it okay for some of the kids to battle the robots?" to which he replied with enthusiastic head nods "yeah! of course! absolutely!" i'm confused. i didn't understand why he gave me one answer, and the dad another answer... so i approach him and ask (to confirm) if the robot battle was an option at birthday parties, to which he replied "yeah - but the kids are only interested in minecraft." and walked off as if i was REALLY bothering him... ??? IF you go in there, try and talk to one of the other guys if you can, because the long haired guy is super unpleasant. or maybe he is just 'selective' with who he wants to do business with. read more

Great idea but horrible area with no parking. So if you are going to have a party know that your guests will be late since there's no parking. So the two hour party will be a waste of your money if t h email guests can't park. It's been 30 min. and there is no sign of any space opening up so I am putting good use of my time and writing this. Horrible will not recommend this place to anyone. read more

This place looked like it have some pretty neat toys. Sadly because they were having a private party and had a good sized group of kids and adults playing with the robots, no one was able to help us out or answer any of our questions in regards to how the robots work or we could go on to make one. For my understanding, you create and build your own robot here and if you don't want to purchase one, you can pay a few bucks to play with them there. It seems like a lot of people do birthdays here which is great but at the same time I wish a few of the employees would have been available since my husband was actually interested in learning more about it and maybe walking out with a new toy. I did see the price in one of the robots too (premade I think) and it was $100 so I am assuming these robots are a bit pricey and not for the kids that want to smash and break things. I would love to come back and actually get more information on how to build one. The place was crowded and it seems to me that its the place to be on weekends for kid birthdays, not sure how the crowd is during the week so I wouldn't recommend you to come here during the weekend or the holiday seasons. Maybe this is sort of like a build a bear work shop for robots? Anywho, would want to come back on another time when they aren't as busy since everyone there seemed to be having a blast, even the adults were all into playing with the robots in the center ring. read more

My son had a great time at his 7th birthday party here, he especially loved his robot shirt ! He's been sleeping in it every day! Jason and Tony and the other guy (sorry, his name escapes me) were so helpful and friendly, they made everything go so smoothly. We had several children bring their siblings unexpectedly and the RR staff took it all in stride and made everything less chaotic. Many of the parents commented that they had never been to a party where ALL the kids were SO engaged for so long! I definitely recommend RR to Yelpers, but I think the service spoke for itself for the parents who attended. Some of the highlights: * Kids battled Robots in the arena, this was especially fun for the kids too young to build a robot * They provide pizza & drinks for a party but they also allow you to bring in outside food at no extra charge - Parents burned out on pizza enjoyed the sandwiches and snacks we brought * Staff is SUPER friendly and really know how to relate to children, they help them build while still letting them feel self sufficient * Kids raced the Robot racers that they built and got to take them home, RR even provides a bag they can decorate! My son just had his 7th birthday party here today, we have about 13 kids, and 25 adults, they all had a blast! We choose "Propeller Racer" as our party favor, kids learned on how to built the racer, then take the racer home with them which are awesome! All my friends told me their kids not only learned something scientifically, but also had a lot of fun playing with the robots! George, the owner is very nice and attentive with our request and the staffs are wonderful and patience helping out all kids to build. We stopped in at this store after noticing it as we walked past. We have a 9 year old son, so how could we not? This place was great. Tons of different robot kits that were appropriate for all ages and reasonably/comparably priced. For a few dollars, you can battle with your robots in an arena in the center of the store. They also offer kid's birthday parties for around the same price as similar types of places (for girls). My son keeps begging to go back there and it's only been two days. read more

We had my son's 6th birthday here yesterday. Because the age range of the guests was between 2 and 9, we opted for the robot battle only party since I didn't think there would be attention span to build a robot for about 1/2 the guests. We had the Tech Room, which for about 12 kids and 15 adults was a little tight, but people were coming in and out between battling robots, so it was OK. There was a nice large table to set up food in the back. The parking lot was a little full, but with parties ending when we were setting up, almost all of our guests were able to find a spot. The robot host (I don't remember his name) was very helpful in finding something for the kids to play with, even the little ones under 4. It was nice that he was attentive to all guests not just the older kids. I didn't see much of the other hosts, but they were around if we had questions. It is a bit of a walk from the parking lot to the entrance, so we used their flyer wagon, but without it, it would have been tough to trek everything to the front. I only knocked off one star because I thought the battle itself could have been a bit more organized. Everyone just sort of grabbed a controller and played when they want, which was fun, but I thought "battle" meant a start/end, but this just may have been confusion on my part. Overall, compared to other birthday party locations, the price was very reasonable and even though we shared the space with another party, I never felt like it was overcrowded.
