I had taken trains, busses, etc... to go to petco, rest of stores to try and save some money but I've always been a fan of local stores compared to huge chain stores. Spoiled brats is a small but packed with knowledge, helpful tips, customer service vice, free tee treats & truly loves animals as a posed to it being just a job. It might cost a bit more, but it is worth it! Quality is great & if your loved pet doesn't like something they take it back. I'm a regular customer here and I absolutely love this pet store! I go here for all of my pet supplies needs, they have a HUGE selection. The staff is always super kind, helpful and informative. You can tell that the staff genuinely loves animals and it's not just a 'job'. They love what they do and you can see that with just one conversation. What's also neat is that they have a cat adoption center inside the store! You can go in and hang out with the cats, and adopt when you're ready! Did i mention they do free delivery?!? I love this place. It doesn't have some of the fancier brands, and yes it can get a little pricey on some items, but the guys working there are awesome. They've never led me astray with choosing things for my pup. I have a tiny 5 month old 3 pound chihuahua who gets cold really often. I bought a sweater here that fits him like a glove, and is cute as hell. It looks like it was knit by some trendy Soho grandma. LOVE. One time we bought a puppy harness here that fit in the store, but then my dog refused to walk in it because it was too big between his front legs. I came back to buy some dog food without the harness and told them what happened, and they gave me the food for free and told me to just return the harness. What great dudes. I was away for a week and when I returned I brought the harness back, no muss no fuss. They treat the customer really well, and they treat my dog even better. Highly recommend! read more

My absolutely favorite place! Not only do they carry my Charlie's food and treats but they know exactly what customer service is!! Eddie and the W 49th St. staff are incredibly helpful with answering our questions. They have an extensive selection of HEALTHY food for dogs and cats. Great little pet store - on the first snowy day in New York, they were the only store in HK to stock the little balloon shoes for my puppy's tiny feet. The service was great too and they were extremely helpful with putting the shoes on my puppy, and other pet-related items. read more

This is a terrific little store, crammed with goodies. I shop for cats, and I found a really impressive variety of canned food for them--a much better selection than the nearby Petland store has. The prices at Spoiled Brats are fine, the equivalent of chain stores and lower than other boutique stores, which was a pleasant surprise. I also want to mention that the different brands of canned foods I got all had expiration dates well in the future, something I make a point of checking, especially at small stores. Of course they don't have every possible brand--what indie business could afford the necessary square footage in Manhattan? But they sure have a fantastic mix of foods. AND toys, including unique catnip toys in all sizes and shapes and colors. I'm currently working in the area and almost didn't bother going in, thinking it was just another overpriced understocked boutique shop. Not at all! I'll be buying all of my cats' food here as long as I'm working this gig. read more

Asians beware! I'm Chinese and was subject to a RACIST SLUR from one of the staff. I had just walked into the store and was looking around. One of the staff members (medium height, dark hair, tanned skin) came up to me and said, "Can I help you?" I said, "I'm looking for cat food." He asked, "Is your cat fat?" I said, "Um, no, I have a kitten," but he was already talking over me with a laughing tone, "Cause if it is, you can just eat it, yes?" I had no idea what to say. It wasn't until I was walking out of the store that I realized what he thought the joke was. It was really hurtful. read more

Its a small pet store in Hells Kitchen/Theater District. Great place and will bargain for somethings. Have doggy clothes food treats collars all the basic necessities any dog or cat owner could dream of. Large selection of hard-to-find items. Friendly staff with a neighborhood feel. I've seen complaints about prices but the prices are in line with a mom and pop's store in NYC. Seriously people! If you're looking for the cheapest food possible for your pet, shop online and buy 50+ pound bags. (Don't complain about the cost of living. It's pretty obvious the hugest corporation will have the lowest price. Go ahead and support the huge chains without smearing one of my favorite local stores.) I used to go here a lot. a very nice store that sells premium food for your pet. the staff are super nice and knowledgeable. Lots of toys, beds etc to choose from. They also have an area for pets that need new forever homes. This is a good place run by people who actually love animals. read more

A great place, because of the ownership. Eddie and Seid are the nicest guys, true pet lovers, and we are lucky to have them in our neighborhood. If as Jessica says, they are overpriced, it is well worth spending the extra cash to support a Mom and Pop operation that provides a level of service and care that you will never find in a Petco or other pet super store. read more

Avoid this place like the plague. I was completely put off by the rudeness of the staff who acted like they were too good to be there, and did not offer any help whatsoever. They should not be in the business, as they clearly have no love for animals. read more
