Got a Groupon for a good deal, bringing each threading session to about $5... this used to be the going rate in the Bay Area back in the day :( Getting an appointment with Natasha was atrocious. I think she rents out this salon (which is nicely done), and only comes when she's available and commutes there. And you can only make appointments on her website so you can't even really call and see if there's a way to work around, etc. I bought the Groupon hoping I could get an appt by the end of the week and there was only times in 2 weeks! And of course none for people work work after 5pm. I was running 5 min late and couldn't even call her and she was pissed when I got there. Then there was issues with redeeming the vouchers. She made a fuss about them and I still don't understand how people put themselves on Groupon but make a big deal out of it instead of putting their best foot forward to keep my business? She did a good job with the eyebrows but there are plenty of people in the area where you can conveniently go as you please. read more

I have been looking for someone to thread my eyebrows because for some reason, none of the girls who has been waxing them made my eyebrows the way I want them to be. Decided to try Natasha because of some great reviews. She do not accept walk ins so make sure to book your appointment on-line. After I have done so, I received an email and also a call from her. If you are a first timer, you need to fill out a form. I was able to make a same day appt maybe because it's just for an eyebrow thread. For facial services, she was fully booked for that day. Parking is not a problem as they have ample private parking space. When I walked in she explained to me that she doesn't shape eyebrows. She only follows your natural eyebrow shape which is I think great! I walked away satisfied and will definitely be a regular moving forward. $18 for both eyebrows and my upper lip. Try her. First, a word or two about threading (as if I invented it or something). Likely if you're reading this you're already a fan, but if not you should know that threading is the holy grail of facial hair removal. And waxing? Waxing is its bitch. Pro's: NO to the following (which is the exact opposite of what you can get when you wax): ingrowns, rashy bumps, missing layers of skin, missing clumps of wanted hair, blistered or inflamed skin from overly hot wax. Also, threading is all about precision -- perfect angles and beautifully rounded lines. Try removing a single brow hair with wax. Con's: It does hurt a tad more because the process isn't quite as quick, but hey, "No pain, then people will mock your mustache", I always say. After moving to the Peninsula, I needed to find a new threader before the 'stache came back and the eyebrow fuzz obliterated my field of vision. After submitting to 5 others whose suckitude varied from "Well, I'll just use a lot of pencil and wax until my brows grow back" to "Holy shit, that $@%#& cut my lip! Twice!", I finally found Natasha Datt at Spool Me Rotten. The first thing you notice about this girl is that she looks like a Bollywood starlet. Gorgeous! She's young, extremely sweet and a MAC makeup artist to boot. I've never seen anyone whose make-up looks that perfect at the end of the day. She's all false eyelashes, nose jewelry, and flawlessly applied lip glass. It's very hard to work that level of glam without looking like a tranny, but she rocks it. Come to think of it, I think she may be a fem-bot, which would explain everything. Heretofore I shall refer to her as Bolly-Bot. Not that any of that is relevant to her threading skills unless a) you're a guy and you need just that extra push to finally handle your gnarly girl-repelling eyebrows or b) you're a girly girl who wants a makeup lesson or application because really, no one wants advice or service from someone who can't walk the talk. The Setup: She works by appointment only out of a little hole in the wall place in downtown Mt. View. It's not fancy, but it is clean, bright, and airy. She charges 7 bucks for brows and 5 bucks for upper lip. She does facials, body waxing, and makeup, but I don't know the prices. Incidentally, I was 25 minutes late for my appointment today and instead of turning me away, which I totally deserved, she fit me in after she was done with her current client. The best part was that she didn't make me feel like turd on the bottom of a pair of Blahniks for showing up so late. Such an accomodating personality! The Delivery: Her work is pure art. She listens and does exactly what you want while still doing what's best for you. You can tell that she loves what she does and loves her customers. Search far and wide, but you won't find a more talented threader. Painful and unhygienic. Come here if you want red scabs on your face. After reading some of the positive reviews (and ignoring all the negative ones), I had hoped this would be my new go-to place for threading. NOPE! The office is in a sketchy, dirty location. Even though I had gone to the trouble of making an appointment, I still had to wait 20 minutes while Natasha helped two other people. This meant I had to listen to her conversation with one of her customers, who seemed to be a friend. Natasha was telling her friend about all of the personal business her last client had confided in her, and they were laughing, rather vindictively, about her client's misfortune. Yuck! There really are some terrible people in the world. When I did get to take my turn in the threading chair, stepping over large, crusty stain in the carpet, I saw that there were small black hairs on the dirty sheet covering the chair. There was a fresh, tiny piece of paper towel on the headrest, but it was too small to do any good. The threading was painful and incomplete. And I now have little scabs on my face. I don't need her being judgemental about my looks--no other threader has complained about them--just cleaned them up like I asked. She's unprofessional. When she asks you what brought you to her and volunteers *&^&^ talk about other establishments, it can be entertaining, but it's still unprofessional. After the very long and difficult process of growing out my eyebrows fully, Natasha left me with eyebrows that were dramatically asymmetrical (one side was arched and super thin, the other side was nearly stick straight), and a knick that drew blood. She made no apologies for the asymmetry, the too-thin lines, nor the blood. I had come in specifically asking that she not make my eyebrows look hooker-thin, and she said she "follows the natural line" and "doesn't like to make them thin like the others." So, in essence, she was trying to blame me for having naturally ugly eyebrows? Not classy and completely unprofessional. (My eyebrows are not super-thick or overgrown and bushy, so maybe she just doesn't know what to do with them). I spent another month and a half growing them out completely, and went to Mad About Brows. Guess what? Apparently my eyebrows are NOT naturally ugly. Natasha was just plain bad. If you've already had good luck with her, good for you. If you are looking for a new place to get your eyebrows done, I would take Natasha off the list and try at least 5 other places first. Madeleine at Mad About Brows is wonderful, sweet and knowledgeable. She doesn't do threading, but she is meticulous, and I came out much cleaner and well-shaped after a session with her than I have with any threader ever before. read more

Perhaps she's moved to a nicer location since I went to see her (twice) but I was not impressed with her operation. It seemed too casual to me. The first time, her assistant moved my appointment up by almost an hour and never left a message for me, though she said she called. So, I ended up being a walk-in. Near the end of my second appointment one of Natasha's former assistants showed up unannounced, walked back straight to the treatment room, stood in the doorway, and started having a conversation with with her. They went on for several minutes while I was still lying down on the bed. I thought the whole thing was very unprofessional. When I asked questions or made a statement, she interrupted me. You cannot really communicate very well when she doesn't let you finish your thought. GOOD: Natasha takes walk-in appointment on Saturdays. She has good tactile skills to make the threading experience painless. I've been a threading devotee for the past 7 years, going to many places in Houston, LA, and Sunnyvale. She has a good touch. BAD: Natasha flipped over an old paper towel from the previous client for me to lie on ... not too hygienic. Natasha powders your brows and upper lip with a rather coarse and beat up brush ... not the most pleasant experience. UGLY: Upon receiving the mirror, to my horror, I found BLEEDING occurring near the corner of my mouth. Natasha stated that I must have been talking, and so she must have ripped part of my skin off. I've never had this happen in any other threading experience. I was shocked to say the least. 5 stars for the walk-in + painless experience -1 star for the not so hygienic paper towel -1 star for the rip and bleed! -1 star for the excuse that I must have been talking, as it's impossible to talk when you're getting your upper lip threaded. I think despite the painless experience, I think the rip & bleed will not bring me back. Luckily for me, the clot looks like a pimple. read more

This review is about one Natasha threading the brows of another Natasha and doing a perrrrrfect job at that. Nuff said - for $12 including tips a month, I get the best brows a sculptor could make. Granted, my eyebrows had a naturally good shape, so Natasha did not have to modify anything drastically, but rather made subtle changes that brought about outstanding results. I've been threading for 15 years so I've had a lot of experience with different theaders. Natasha's style was virtually painless but she needed a lot of "help" from me in order to thread just right. She asked me to use my right hand to pull my cheek down, then my left hand to pull my cheek up, then blow into my cheek, now lift my chin, higher... a little higher. My left arm doesn't turn all the way because of an injury I had as a kid, so I wasn't able to do her positions the way she wanted. Instead of asking me if I was comfortable, she kept telling me she was anal about the holding positions. She has you lie down (I'm used to sitting in a chair) and uses soooo much baby powder that it got in my ears, my hair, and all over my shirt. It was too much. I was going to run errands after threading and had to spend 5 minutes in my car trying to get all the baby powder off of me. Natasha told me she doesn't thread hairs near the eye area and even though that bothered me a lot, I decided to let it go because she scared me and told me threading in that area would give me wrinkles. Now that I've had a few minutes to think about it, I wonder if that's true. Facial hair now or wrinkles later? I vote for wrinkles later (if that's even true!) The full face threading doesn't include forehead which was really surprising to me since, at least on my face, my forehead is part of it. The thing is, she left patches of hair that I didn't see until I got home and inspected my face really close up. Now, I'm going to have to go to someone else to get all the patches she left. In addition, I asked her to pluck the corners of my nose (gross, I know, but I need it) and she said it was too hard and I probably should just pluck. With all her years of experience, I was surprised to hear threading an area was "too hard" especially since in all my 15 years of threading and going to at least 7 different threaders (because of moves, etc) no one has ever told me that it was too hard. She warned me against threading too often because she said it was trauma for my face. Is that true? I left feeling anxious rather than happy that I was hair free. I don't think I'll go back. I usually go to an JP Salon in San Jose and she sits me in a chair, says hello, then 20-min later I'm out, its not very painful, she gets all my hair, I don't have to participate as much, and I don't come out looking like a snow man. read more

I was currently going to Amita when I came to visit Natasha. Amita I assumed was on maternity leave since she was about 9 months pregnant last time I saw her. My main concern with Natasha is that even though she said to me that she is "anal about getting every single hair," she left A LOT of hairs on my face even though I ordered the full face threading. Amita in Burlingame gets my face very clean except for a couple hairs next to my lower lashes which I don't expect her to get. Natasha left hairs all over my face, not just a strand here and there all over but big patches so that I didn't even feel I had gotten my face threaded. Also she didn't even get very close to my hairline either. I will return if Amita is not available. read more

I started doing my eyebrows about 4 years ago. I have had them waxed, plucked and threaded. So far, Natasha is by far the best experience I have had. She is the least painful, and most knowledgeable. My eyebrows are very thick with a really good arch, and I spent years not touching them because I was afraid they would be ruined (read, turned into pencil thin 90's style lines) I had a gal I was seeing in Los Angeles, and she had thinned them out so much, people told me I looked "surprised". I have extremely sensitive skin. I have always gotten large, dime sized welts on my eyelids whether I waxed, threaded or plucked. Natasha is the only person who has been able to do my eyebrows without that happening. She is very skilled. I am so sad I don't live in Mountain View anymore, cuz I can't find anyone like her here. View, I would drive to SF to get my eyebrows waxed because everyone else I tried around my area just didn't do good enough. Thank you Yelp reviewers for helping me find Natasha! My first visit with her was quick since I was late. Her place was difficult for me to find because 1) I wrote down the wrong address and 2) she's inside of an office building. If you're trying to find her, look for the building with the green awning across from Tina's Kusina and go inside because you won't see her front door from the street. Instead of a full consultation, I got the quick run down on my brows and what I needed to do to get them fuller. Natasha was pretty knowledgeable and she advised me not to pluck or wax, no matter what. This was tough not to do but thank goodness I listened! Since I was late, she did a quick (meaning 5 min., literally) clean up. She was super fast, efficient and not to mention inexpensive...a combination I haven't experienced with anyone doing my brows. Since my first meet with her, I always look forward to going back because she does so well and my eyebrows have never looked so good! Her scheduling is easy and I never seem to have a problem getting in but plan accordingly because she's not always available on weekends and she doesn't always do threading every day of the week. With Natasha, I am impressed by her technique which is completely painless and speed. I was in and out of there in less than ten minutes. I got my eyebrows, sideburns and upper lip threaded. For 25 dollars for all these services, its true value for money. I also love how efficient their online booking is. Natasha calls back in less than 24 hours to confirm your appointment. I think w.r.t her referring to other threading places, she has quitened up thanks to all the reviews. She did not mention other businesses to me and just spoke of her technique to not manipulate the natural curve of the eyebrows which I was comfortable with. I got a freshguide coupon for a facial and threading so I finally booked my appointment a couple weeks ago. The threading was pretty good. Though I've never done threading before I liked the results. The facial was just ok. I was a bit disappointment she didnt do extraction...for the most part she just used suction tools on my face. Maybe that's how it's supposed to be. Natasha told me the coupon was for buy one get one threading and said I can try to schedule an appointment at the end of the month. So I sent them an email from their website a few days ago requesting an appt for a certain day but they never got back to me. I called them and was told that they should get back to me by the next day and if not I should call again...they never got back to me and I didn't call em. I bought the trubates deal to try this place out....and when I called to make an appt and Natasha found out that I'm trying to use a trubates coupon, she didn't sound very happy. But oh well, an appointment was made and I went to try out the services. First, the threading service was okay. Like other reviewers said, she started by stating the number of years she has been in the business and how different she is from other indian ladies. The threading experience was okay, but I felt like she did not help to shape my brow at all which was what I needed. Second, I had the microdermabrasion facial. She did NOT cleanse my face before starting the microdermabrasion procedure. Seriously? No cleansing?? During the facial, she kept on mentioning how she didn't like trubates because people would buy the deal for a one time use and don't intend to go back. But I'm thinking...there must be a reason why people don't come back, right? I've had many microdermabrasion facials done before, and they always come with extraction to make sure that the pores free of residue. I asked Natasha if she's going to do that, but she said no and simply said it's not necessary. Lastly, about 15 minutes after I left this place, my eyes were super sting and I was tearing like crazy. I don't know what is up with the "natural" facial products she puts on my face, but surely, something is not good. I've been seeing Natash for a little over 3 months. My first time with her was similar as a few others have mentioned on their visits. However, that was before I saw their negative reviews, so for my first time I thought maybe I was just being overly sensitive and I gave her a second chance. I'm really glad I did, because she has definitely gotten better than I first remember... much friendlier at my following visits. Either she read what a few yelpers complained about, and improved her "bedside manner", or the 1st time I saw her was just not a good day for her. Or who knows, maybe a little of both. ;) Pros 1) location is convenient in downtown Mountain View 2) prices are good compared to other places I've tried 3) if you come Mon-Thu between 11-3pm, you get a 10% discount 4) her threading is indeed much less painful than others I've tried 5) easy, online scheduling 6) although it's been difficult not to pluck in between visits, I'm so glad I haven't, because my brows are finally growing back thicker. I can see where Natasha is going with them and I'm looking forward to them filling back in. Cons 1) I admit I didn't like how she spoke to me on my first visit, she can come off as arrogant and a little rude. However, her "Pros" far outweighed her "Cons" to me after my first visit, so again, I am soooo glad I came back to give her another try. I love Natasha! I've been going to her for over a year now and I have to say that my brows have NEVER looked better. When I first came in to see her, she let me know that I had been overplucking and that other threading places were just cleaning up my overplucked brows when they could have been growing out and looking so much better. She cleaned up all the stray hairs and when I went back three weeks later, my brows were finally starting to look natural. Now, my brows hardly need much maintenance, but when I see Natasha, she always gives me compliments on how far we've come with my brows. I have also never gotten so many compliments on my eyebrows until now and it's all because of her. Thanks girl! You can't complain about the price - $8 She also does facials, other spa services, AND makeup (even makeup workshops). You can book online if you have a gmail account! So easy! (You can even be squeezed in the same day if you call and leave a message for her. She's pretty booked though...) If you refer someone to her, you get a free eyebrow session! I have full eyebrows and since I was a teenager have always tweezed. No matter how much I plucked it always felt like there was more hair ready to spring up and just seemed to be an endless job. A couple years ago I found Natasha on yelp & thought I would give it a try. She was very honest & told me that I was over plucking and needed to let my eyebrows grow in more. At first it was really difficult to not pluck, but have since got into a regular routine & my eyebrows look fabulous! lol - someone recently asked if I was high maintenance because my eyebrows were so perfect.
