I stopped by this location yesterday to sharpen my new skates and it was super easy and convenient. We walked right up to the skate shop and the guy took my skates and started sharpening them on the spot. I was really happy with the fact the store wasn't too busy and we were able to social distance very easily. We got in and out super quickly and I'm happy they were able to get my skates ready for winter. Would I return? Absolutely! How was the service? It was great! read more

Bought a Nakamura bike that broke after the second use, Sports Check refused to fix the broken gears because according to the terms of their "guarantee" nothing that moves is covered, that just means they wont cover anything since the bike "moved" when we used it!, very different to what the sale's lady told us when we purchased. "no worries" your bike is fully guaranteed for a full 2 years let alone 2 days! Bad products, terrible service! read more

Been here twice - to buy a bike for my niece and to buy gym equipment. On both occasions the staff were friendly. The bike dude was thorough explaining to us what to look for in a good bike. I've fallen off on bikes so I was not the best person to ask but the sales guy helped a lot figuring out what's the best bike for our needs. They also tuned the bike up. Yup, they tune up a bike. Wow. The store's organization is not intuitive so I was lost finding gears. The sales lady helped me...politely. If at Wal-Mart you get grumpy look from retiree sales associates, at Sport Check you get pleasant service from people who know sports. Whooray! read more

I was having a difficult time getting my snowboard waxed at the Sport Chek in Newmarket due to the overwhelming number of people who needed their skis/snowboard waxed and/or skates sharped. The Newmarket location told me that they could fit me in next week. As I figured this was outrageous, I called the Richmond Hill location. The gentleman guaranteed he could fit me in and had my snowboard waxed in the hour. He was friendly and helpful and definitely proved to be worth the drive all the way to Richmond Hill. read more

Sport check is a pretty good place to shop for hockey stuff or other sport equipments, but it is also good to shop for many more things. Sport check is also a bit expensive for some stuff, but there is also some sales sometimes. read more

Clothing selection here is subpar, at best. Female section has basically stayed the same since last summer, but the prices are okay. Male clothing selection seems a bit better, and changes more often. Ladies shoe section is abysmal. Men's is a bit better, once again. I had to travel to a Sportchek about 40 minutes away from home just to get a decent pair of Nike's. Employees are often hard to track down, and there have been times I've wandered the store aimlessly searching for one, just to give up and wait by the fitting room for 20 minutes before one finally showed up. A red-haired girl who works at the bike service department is good at what she does, but there's a darker-haired male who recently worked on our bikes and he's USELESS. Judgemental and rude and seems to have little to no knowledge of bikes. Sent ours in to get checked up and he missed so many issues with them. We sent our bikes in to another store called Bike Depot and the worker there showed us so many things the guy from Sportchek didn't catch (or didn't care enough to catch). Also heard his employees calling him out, saying he needs to be more thorough. The manager (glasses and tattoos) is super friendly and a great help. Overall, this location is decent if you want last year's outdated leggings, overly colourful shoes that look like they belong on a 13-year-old, and a chubby bike service guy who acts like a know-it-all. Otherwise, save yourself the trip and go somewhere else. read more
