Even…read morethough he had competed in the Junior Olympics when he was younger, I decided anyway to come here and try out my ability. We both live in Flushing near Main St., so NYISC was a perfect place for us to travel to. The club inside was spacious and clean. Some of the staff greeted us as soon as we walked in and gave us a thorough and in-depth description of all the membership services and fees for ping pong games/coaching. The actual tables are professional-grade, and there are actually plenty of them spread throughout an enormous indoor facility. I liked the feel of the high ceilings while I played (or at least ATTEMPTED to play haha). Even though this place was popular on a weeknight around 7-8pm, the size of the facility didn't make me feel cramped. Checking out the rest of NYISC, I saw an indoor soccer field - which is a rare sight in a place such as Flushing. I don't play soccer, but I would recommend this space for soccer teams and friends looking to play a match or serious game. My boyfriend and I also wandered to the 'Pro Shop' in the sports club. They sold all different professional ping pong products from brands such as Butterfly (famous ping pong product manufacturer). We didn't purchase anything, but I did sign up for private lessons with one of the renowned & accomplished coaches. The pricing was for a set of 10 lessons and were more than affordable. The coaches were all world ranked, and have competed in Olympics, etc. Maybe one day I'll be able to at least keep up in a game with my boyfriend, lol. LAST THING: People here are very open and friendly. If you come on a weeknight like us or a weekend, there will always be staff to help you and fellow players/students to meet/interact with :) One person saw my extreme lack of ping-pong skills and kindly helped me out a bit the first time I came to NYISC -___- lols I will definitely be returning

Update: Still one of my favorite facilities that I have been…read moreto, the ceiling height is amazing and there's adequate space to do ATP's. The lighting could be better on certain courts.. uhem courts 1, 2, 3, but my friends and i love coming here because honestly we know these courts inside out. We know which are the good courts and which courts have some hiccups, we come here so often know where the dead spots are on certain courts but with all that the prices at night for private courts cant be beat. One of my friends had a bad experience recently and I'm glad the owners took her experience into consideration and addressed the issue pertaining that specific employee. (if you scroll through all the bad reviews on google, its always about that one specific employee.) This place has become so popular that it is always booked out 2 weeks in advance. Looking forward to seeing how this place continues to grow and improve. Love the majority of the courts here especially their newer ones court 11&12. It has a little more privacy and prevents balls from flying all over into other peoples courts and vice versa. Some courts especially court 2 is less desirable in my opinion, it's dark and hard to focus or see the ball. Some courts do have water dripping from ceiling during rainy/ snowy days but it's not significant enough to become a hazard. Appreciate that they now have 24 hour options available. All of their staff are amazing except the one senile old guy, he's just miserable. (IYKYK) We come here regularly and seeing him just ruins your day/mood. Overall good courts with no dead bounces, adequate overhead space and lighting and clean bathrooms. There's parking to the side of the building (across the street) and in the back, however on snowy days it is a dangerous trek.

They have open play that you can sign up for based on skill level as well as court rentals. Went to a social open play where 20 people split 4 pickleball courts and the games went smoothly and there was not a lot of down time between games. Open play was a little confusing at first but people there will let you know how the randomized teaming-up works so it prevents a "dominant team" from playing together the whole time. In addition to the facility having everything you would want in terms of pickleball courts, what makes the open plays really fun is the crowd. Everyone was really friendly and there was no negative body language no matter what the score is, who your partner was, or who the opponents were. Everyone was there to play some pickleball and have a good time.

Place needs better maintenance as bathrooms are always wreaking of urine especially the kids family bathroom. Why do we have a children's bathroom with no proper way for children to reach the sink located inside the toilet? Staff at the salon also has a bad attitude. For such a high end gym, customer service is lacking 100%.

But policies set by management or corporate at this facility basically guarantee this location is on same trajectory as the Dodo bird. Other than the above, terrible quality for a Life Time facility and significantly worse than any other Life Time in NYC and Westchester area. The bumper plates on the second floor look more or less like a dog chewed on them. If you are here to lift weights, just know that the equipment is worse than LA fitness, NYSC, etc. Again, other Life Times have been renovated 1-2x over the past 3 years, if they aren't brand new. This is literally the only one that is like this. The only renovation they did was to remove a basketball coirt to replace with Pickle ball. The squat racks are literally a danger to use if you squat on the second floor if you hit parallel or lower unless you go to the 3rd floor (which typically has classes running) And now that they replaced one basketball court with Pickleball courts, you basically cannot use the basketball court. Unavailable 60-70% of the time to use. Attaching a picture for the reader to judge for themselves. Camp is over? Birthday party. No birthday party? Then its a league game (this one was not as bothersome before as they had the second court and it was not typically the entire day). I understand the need to increase revenue but at this point, this location is milking their members for quality that is worsening with each passing day. The reason this gym also went downhill is because of the influx of those who were going to Syosset and changed because the quality was also going down. I would venture to say Syosset is now the better location. If you have time, checkout Life Time Harrison or Life Time Dumbo. Drastic difference in quality. I hope corporate management changes their tune but its more likely that this facility will continue to increase prices and let the place deteriorate until they close down. Its really a shame. I made the plunge and joined Equinox a few weeks ago. After coming here for a few Yelp Events, and…read morebeing that it's close to home, it made my decision an easy one. Although pricey, it's worth it! Let's start off with the amazing customer service I've received. I had the pleasure of meeting Brett. He is a Membership Advisor. He messaged me to see how I was doing and if I had any questions. My very first day as a member he showed me around the the gym from top to bottom, corner to corner. He even offered to take a class with me if I didn't want to take one alone. He is super friendly and funny. He continues to say hello to me BY NAME every time he sees me at the gym. That's amazing that he remembers my name considering how many people he sees and interacts with at the gym every day. Now Christopher (I believe that's his name) works at the shop at the gym where there's clothes, gym bags, and other accessories. When you become a member you get 20% off your first purchase at the shop. So...I took advantage of that! Christopher was patient with me as I looked around the shop. So many choices! Some of their brands run big...so I was happy that I was able to buy a smaller size than I normally would. Christoper helped me pick out some things and even showed me a super comfy sweatshirt. It's a men's sweatshirt...but it's the most comfortable sweatshirt I've ever worn. Comfy and warm! Brian, the manger is also super nice! I had a long conversation with him on my first day at the gym. It was so nice that he took the time out of his day to speak with me. He also greets me by name every time he sees me at the gym. As a new member you get a complimentary Pilates session. I took mine with Jacqueline. The Pilates session is in the studio and it's just you and the trainer. Jacqueline was very patient with me as I've never done Pilates before. She showed me how to use the machines. She also taught me that Pilates isn't just body movements...but it's about your mind as well. Which is very true. We even laughed! Who laughs when working out? That's what I thought. You also get a complimentary personal training session as a new member. I had the pleasure of meeting Tracy. She is wonderful! She understood me and my goals. She was patient and answered my questions. We also laughed a little. Again, who laughs when on an 10% incline and 3.5 speed on a treadmill?? That's what I thought! I felt so welcomed as a new member! Besides the "Welcome" email and "Welcome Packet" I received, I received a hand written welcome card in the mail, and another welcome card in the mail. I can truly tell the Equinox cares about their members. On to the gym... SO many machines for cardio and strength training! I've never had to wait for a machine. One of the things I like about the machines is that they have internet. I've enjoyed watching YouTube videos to get me through my workouts. You can even access Facebook, Google...and a ton of other things. You can sync LoseIt and other apps if you use apps to calorie count or to keep track of your food intake. There's also WiFi at the gym...so you can bring your iPad or other device and watch Netflix as you work out! I am guilty of this! :o) If you aren't sure how to use a strength training machine, don't be scared. During my tour of the gym, Brett mentioned there is always staff on the floor that will show you how to use them! Don't be shy...ask them! Locker rooms... I can't speak for the men's locker room, but the woman's locker room as everything you can think of. Hair dryers, straighteners, razors, tampons, mouth wash, hair gel, shaving cream, shower caps...etc. There's also a filtered water filling station and a digital scale. Everything you can ask for! Now the showers are wonderful. Kiehl's shower products are like a dream. They smell so yummy, and have me feeling refreshed. Shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and face wash. The showers are nice and hot! AND... eucalyptus towels!!! Smell so nice, especially after a sweaty workout! What are you waiting for?? GO workout at Equinox!
