the coaches and trainers seem amazing even the doctors are Great it is the people who are first line customer service people the ones setting appointments and answering questions. They like to play with your time and money. I have been calling leaving messages playing phone tag about setting up therapy for my daughter. called today and GOT Through in the middle of her setting the appointment she transfers me to another department. I then let her know I was literally in the middle of waiting to see when the appointment would be and she transferred me randomly the lady EMILY is like oH then she transfers me randomly to Nothingness just dead air I am saying hello hello nothing. read more

Had a basketball tournament here all weekend. It was a nice facility. Not much room to walk around the courts but it works. The back room courts were the best. read more

Three stars for offering an assortment of programs and camps, and for having Coaches that are keen to improving the whole player. However, I felt the customer service and attitude could be elevated to more helpful and knowledgeable if they could just communicate without the snark. The program calendar is difficult to find on their website (hint: look for "downloadable pdf calendar") and it shouldn't be so hard to get descriptions of the classes, etc. Plus, they weren't very skilled at ringing up transactions (I had to go back the next day to pay because they didn't know how to edit a price (sidenote: the price charged was not the price advertised). Also, when the classes or programs are starting, there should be staff ready to sign in and take money immediately. Of all five times we've gone, there has never been anyone around to guide or assist those of us who are new. I would suggest the company offer pucks on loan to those that are dropping in (withholding car keys or drivers license is fine to secure their return)---it shouldn't be looked down upon from the staff, or made to be an inconvenience to Canlan. It should be easier and friendlier for those just trying to pay to get on the ice. Additionally, don't suggest buying pucks from the store when the store doesn't open until after 4pm...not helpful when the class starts prior to this. I'm glad the icehouse is here, and I think they have some great ideas. I just think the atmosphere and energy of the front staff could be more conducive to eager players & parents and less "whatever." It's supposed to be FUN, right?? read more

My three stars is based on my opinion of the cons. We were recommended to come here from headwaters Park outdoor ice rink to take lessons so kuddos to them for giving props to another local business that is awesome. I went the next day to inquire about learn to skate programs and was helped by a very friendly staff member. The learn to skate programs are very affordable and came with an offer of a free pair of ice skates; Figure or hockey. Albeit they are the cheapest skates a program can offer but they will work for what my child needs. The con you have to get them from their pro shop and the hours are awful only opening from 4-8 daily and if they don't have the size or style needed you have to wait on them being ordered. That's tough when your hold and you want them right away so they can be used before Classes start. They also give you a six pass punch card that lets you ice skate complimentary 6 times which is pretty generous. Between free skates and 6 sessions it almost pays for itself. They offer classes all the time so you'll never have to wait more than a few weeks for a new one to start up. The downside they don't cap off how many kids sign up nor do they break them into groups from never skating to I've taken quite a few lessons but still learning some tricks. Instead they're all clumped together on the ice with a handful of high school coaches that teach the masses a few things without spending any one on one time with the kids. They want you to sign up for personal coaching lessons for $20 for a 15' session. Yea no thank. Also the group session is 50' long and the first 30' they are with the coaches and then they have 20' of free skate. Wait, what? So my child is skating on their own? Didn't I just fork over $100 for lessons with a coach? Next there isn't a ton of seating down by the ice to watch your kid and it's freezing in the ice house so dress like an Eskimo. They don't offer a lot of seating outside the rink either. There is however a restaurant upstairs that has huge windows you can look down on the ice from your table. They serve about 10 food items (at ridiculous prices) beer and soda. But there is one staff members that serves the entire place through the week so service is slow and you're left to fend for yourself. More times than not I've had to pull chairs of the tables to sit and have a snack while my child is on the ice. It's also cold up there but not as cold down on the ice. Free skate times are pathetic. Offered before 3 pm and then a few times during the weekend. If you have school aged children you'll never be able to free skate during the week. You'll have to go to headwaters for that. Sometimes they offer it on Friday night for two hours. It's also kinda pricey for free skate and I prefer going downtown. Parking is ridiculous. It's very busy here as hockey is the number one sport of choice and played here majority of the time vs figure skating. It's always busy. Overall it's a great place for hockey and the kiddos love to hang out here. They have three rinks available and they'll tell you where to go free skate when you pay. I'd recommend coming. Just know that skate lessons aren't the best. It's a glorified free skate session that you pay $100 for. read more
