My friend and I stopped here for lunch after shopping at Costco. We decided to order two sandwiches and each take half with onion rings for a side. We went with the Tour de French dip and Tiger Loin (breaded pork tenderloin). We asked our server Payge if the roast beef was grocery deli meat or actual roast beef. She didn't know the answer and didn't offer to find out. They were all very disappointing. The French dip was just grocery deli meat, but at least they "grilled" the meat. It was alright, we've had better. The tenderloin had some gristle and very little flavor. Even with the lettuce, tomato, onion, pickle, mustard and ketchup! We've definitely had MUCH better!! The onion rings looked very good, but were bland. They served them with what looked like homemade ranch. It tasted like they cut the amount of necessary seasoning in half. Payge was very friendly and cheerful. She checked on us several times. If she had offered to check on the "roast beef". she might have been one of the better servers we've had. The place is a typical sports bar. Plenty of TV's is you wanted watch a game. We were there on a Tuesday at lunch, no football game on. Strangely, they had all 10? TV's we saw on the same channel. Which would have been nice if they had the volume up. Instead they had the TV's silenced and were playing 80's rock. At least the food was reasonably priced for Ankeny. We were here to watch the game. It's a great atmosphere! The game is on most TVs (multiple games for everyone!) our waitress was amazing! She even had great recommendations for a drink, the Caribbean koolaid is delicious! My husband got a the tenderloin which he says was ok. I ordered a mushroom Swiss burger and was very disappointed to find it's just canned mushrooms on top of a burger covered in cheese. The menu doesn't say fresh mushrooms, so it is definitely my fault for assuming. While we will definitely be back for the games, I will not be ordering the mushroom Swiss again. read more

Sports Page Grill is where it's at, if you're looking to catch the game while out. Sports Page Grill is your typical sports pub and grille, with several TVs showcases whatever sporting event so happened to be occurring during the time. There's plenty of seating here, along with Hawkeye and Cyclone fans. Personally I'm not a collegiate sports fan, so I can't necessarily comment on the vibe in that regard, but consider the many people donning either the cardinal and gold, or the black and gold, I think Iowa State and Hawkeye fans like this place. The menu consists of your normal American sports bar and grille, like burgers, pizza, chicken fingers, wraps, and salads. I decided to go get a burger, as the menu boasted the best in town. I went ahead and ordered Bourbon Burger, which came with onion rings, cheese, and topped with this phenomenal bourbon glaze. The burger was great and I upgraded my fries to waffle fries. Overall, the meal was good, the service was decent, although slow, but it was a really busy evening there. Every table and chair seemed to have someone, so I get it. BATHROOM REVIEW: Located near the front of the restaurant, past the Donkey Kong arcade and sucker-claw machine, inside it was surprisingly spacious. I called an order in for carry out today for my mom. It's her birthday but she hasn't felt well this week and didn't want to go out and about. Sports Page to the rescue! I was greeted with the warmest welcome from Nick. I placed my order and asked if there was an option to order either soup or cake---and much to my surprise, he put both in our order on the house. Such an incredibly kind gesture. The food I ordered was prepared perfectly and was still fresh when I delivered it to my mom. Great atmosphere to get some delicious food in! We arrived on a Friday around noon and were promptly seated. This place has a ton of tables and was around 75% full during lunch. We started off with some fried cheese curds with their homemade ranch, it did not disappoint. It was real cheese curds with varying sizes. Definitely worth coming back for. I ordered the Mac and cheese burger with seasoned fries. The Mac and cheese was delicious, I plan on ordering that as a side next time. This place is exactly what a normal sports bar needs to be. Plenty of TVs, pretty standard options for food, and I'd say slightly better than average quality of food, and good service! Poorly greeted at the door, the young lady put two tables together for our party of 5. The tables we very dirt even after she tried to clean them. The waitress did seem to care we were still trying to clean the tables. The floor under the table was sticky. Over all dirty restaurant. The food was actually pretty good nothing special but good for the restaurant concept. Service was lacking, slow on additional beer and waitress never really understood the concept of someone wanting sugar and cream for coffee. The waitress should consider her style just dropping things on the table wasn't very polished. In general I would just a good cleaning and attention to the floors it is gross when your shoes stick to the floor. Not forget we sent two sets of silver back for being dirty. Very disgusting. Don't think we will return, many restaurants to choose from in this space. And no desert on the menu for the kids. read more

Pretty good place! The name pretty much explains what kind of a place this is, it's a sports eatery! Think Bdubs with a different menu and you got it! This place is decorated pretty fresh and modern, very comfortable and inviting. The staff was very friendly and there were plenty of Tvs so you always had a view of the game. It was pretty packed the night I went, but there wasn't a wait and service was not slow. The atmosphere is pretty much one you would find at Bdubs, sports fans mixed with people who just want to hangout with friends. We started with the spinach artichoke dip with Pita chips which were very tasty! I had the Tonya Harding sandwich which I believe is their signature sandwich option, it was very good! Loads of flavorful and big! I got the onion rings with it and they were tasty as well. I also got the chili which was good, just regular good chili, nothing spectacular. My friend got the chicken Alfredo Pasta which was good, but again nothing amazing, but still good! Overall great time! Found good place to come enjoy a game with friends and food! read more

Food is ok. Service is getting better but still slow. Pop is horrible, can't even have a good whiskey drink. They need I recalibrate the machines. Planned on hanging out for dinner and having drinks while watching Ohio State in the Orange bowl. But they are going to play audio from the Cotton Bowl and Mizzou. Since they are not airing the audio for the big game and it's only in a few TVs we will be leaving. Should have gone to Buffalo Wild Wings instead. This place is a prototypical 4-star, pretty good bit not great. They had a promo for Tito's martinis but I prefer gin martinis so I asked if Gin counted. I expected a bad martini but it was actually better than several fine restaurants I went to. Good was 3.5, wouldn't blue you away but perfect good and I don't think bnb they'd disappoint. After moving to North Ankeny in August, Sports Page has been one of our favorite restaurants. The food is good and the drinks are fun! I love their parmesan crusted bread that you can get with some of their sandwiches. They also have some fun cocktails, I particularly like the Nerds creation. My boyfriend love their Red Stag Manhattan. He says it is the best Manhattan he's ever had, which is really surprising coming from a sports bar. Someone gave me a gift card from this local chain bought in Indianola. The giver told me they had three locations Indianola, Pella, and Ankeny. Never go to first two locations so made plans to have lunch at Ankeny, When seated I had gift card on table and told server I was planning on using it for lunch. She said sure no problem. When the bill came she took the card and soon came back and said they couldn't take it. She said she would have the manager talk to me. The manager came out and said I couldn't use it at his location. I told him the server told me it was fine (as the giver assured me) and he said he couldn't do anything about it. Never have been in a business that the manager didn't stand behind what an employee said or did. Food was real average, no reason to go here with so many great choices in the Ankeny area. read more

Last week we found ourselves here at Sports Page in Ankeny. It sparked my interest thinking it was owned by the same people as Sports Page in Fort Dodge, but the server I asked said they are not the same. I was still excited to try some different menu items. We got the nachos, a quesadilla, and a burger. All the items tasted great and were plated well. I was a little disappointed in the drink menu and availability of common alcohols/ciders, but our server was great at recommending similar options. The service here was probably my favorite part. I was welcomed at the door by some lovely ladies who you could tell were truly happy to be there, and our server was top notch. He got to know us and other employees also joined in to our conversations and it made for a great time! Everyone was super nice and fun and I could tell it was a great environment not just for us patrons eating there, but for the employees as well. I don't go up to Ankeny as much anymore, but I will plan on stopping back in the near future for another casual yet fun dining experience. read more

When we got there we tried to order a beer and the manager refused to serve him just because he had a vertical ID. He didn't even look at the date so we got up and left. The wrap I ordered had many extra ingredients that were not listed and not good together. Ordered a Bloody Mary from the buss boy in which I asked for spicy, and it arrived so flaming hot I could not drink it. I was coughing, drinking water, and my eyes were watering. We have been here several times now and we usually choose to sit in the bar side as it is more cozy. They have a restaurant side too if you want to feel like you are in a dining establishment vs a bar. Large seating area. Clean. Greeted at the door and seated by staff. There are two entries one on the north side and one on the south side. We choose the north entrance as it gets you to the bar side without being greeted by staff and chauffeured to your seats. Decent beer on tape. Large menu to choose from. They do have wings which are not breaded and pretty good. Seating is comfortable. Staff are generally friendly. They do have take out. Is a family friendly environment. Tons of tv's to watch if you so choose. We would return if in the mood for their food. read more
