When I first started coming to this bar it was a nice place to relax and sing karaoke. Yet now…read moreeverything has changed. The karaoke jockey (KJ) Chance has quit leaving the bar almost empty every night. The day time bartender (Star) is always finding an area that is not seen on camera and getting high from her THC vape and not being respectful to the customers. She has openly disrespected the other bartenders around the patrons and openly harassed patrons she doesn't personally like. Night bartender (Malinda) spends more time with personal friends than she does behind the bar. When she is behind the bar she has a curt attitude towards the customers thinking she's being funny, but instead is being rude and disrespectful. There are 2 new bartenders that do a pretty good job but they don't get the chance to shine because they are put on the back burner. After going to this bar for quite a while I feel that the atmosphere here has changed erratically in the negative direction. The patrons are great but it's the two aforementioned bartenders that have drug the bar into disarray.

Within seconds, I received a text that my order had been received, but not confirmed, and to watch for a confirmation text. After 30 minutes, I still had not received a confirmation text, so I messaged asking for an approximate time. The reply stated they were "slammed" and that my order would be ready in about 30 minutes. After another 45 minutes, I still had not received any communication from them, so I decided to walk over to check on my order, hoping that it would be ready. The first thing I noticed was that there were not a lot of customers inside. I informed the server behind the bar that I was there to pick up my order, and she went back to check. When she returned, she told me that there were no pickup orders. I showed her the email with my order number and told her that I never received a confirmation from them. She went back into the kitchen, then came back and said they didn't have my order, but could make it while I waited - about 10 minutes. I reluctantly agreed and waited. When I got my order, I asked for a few extra cups of sauce. The server was put off, as if asked to perform an overwhelming task. Needless to say, I left the establishment with a less-than-favorable taste in my mouth. 24 hours later, I received a text from them that my order was confirmed and would be ready to be picked up. I texted back that this was 24 hours late and to cancel the order. The reply was that their texting service was unavailable, and to call for questions. I then replied to the confirmation email, hoping that would get through to them. No such luck. The reply I received said that delivery had failed - that their email box was full. I will say that the food was good, and that the server was mainly friendly. However, the whole online ordering system needs some serious revamping. I hope that Whiskey River will take this review as constructive criticism so that future customers will have an easier, smoother online ordering experience.

This is a favorite local place for Mexican street food-style fare. You see a lot of…read moreSpanish-speaking folk in here dining, which is always a good sign for authenticity, but at the same time I know that turns some of the locals off because the style is slightly different than the Americanized version of this same food they are used to eating. It's their loss I say because we love this place. Value for the money is pretty outstanding, but some folks say they've been downsizing the portions lately, so I'll have to check that out for myself. The atmosphere is very much the utilitarian, hole-in-the-wall style eatery, but it's always consistent and delicious and their long hours make it a favorite of the post-bar crawl crowd who know it's here. That being said, given its location, if you didn't go looking for this place, you would probably never find it, since it's a little off the beaten tracks (literally) near where the railroad crosses by some of Caldwell's industrial businesses. The format as one could guess is fast-casual, so definitely a destination you go to more for the food than the dining atmosphere. That being said, they keep the place clean and in good shape, but some of the chairs are a little uncomfortable.
