My folks and I are wanting to start fishing. ODFW suggested a spring goods store to ask questions for beginners. Adam was on the floor today, juggling several things at once while he was being pulled in all directions. He handled it so well, and greeted us as soon as possible. He spent time with us, explaining the basics of what we needed and gave us tips on places to go for first timers. He gave us info on licensing and answered all our questions, never making us feel like he was in a rush. We walked in knowing next to nothing and left feeling excited to start! We will definitely be making this our home base for fishing equipment, licenses, and getting our reels spun on our poles (unsure if I said that right). Thank you Adam! read more

In their ads, the regular price posted is not necessarily the MSRP but can be much higher to make it look like a good deal. They don't list it as MSRP so they're not doing anything wrong that I know of. But, for instance, if their regular prices for Keen shoes they have on the sales today are truly the regular prices, they are selling higher than MSRP. read more

I waffle between a 3 and 4 star review. Some departments are staffed with knowledgable associates with experience with the merchandise, but other areas are staffed with folks who seem more at home in a department store than in an outdoor store. I still shop here for ammunition and some fishing supplies. For specialty items I head to the speciality stores. read more

Their inventory is small or nonexistent, this has been an issue not just every now and then but since I moved here 5 years ago. Checked on line for Yakima Bait spinfish, it showed a few in stock but not many. I went down to pick a couple and none in stock. I had a horrible experience with the little girl cashier upfront, she was very rude and not cooperative with me after I have gathered up merchandise worth roughly around $80 dollars walked to front cashier . I asked her politely where can I get a free brochure or the fishing magazine that displays rules and regulations on fishing , she rudely said to me , it's down at the end of this counter you can get it yourself. In my head I'm thinking okay I'm a paying customer here and you are the employee, you should provide customer service to me by simply getting me that but she was rude and I did accept it . So I just said to her you know what I've changed my mind and this company is going to loose money over your attitude so I walked out for the last time and never bought anything there . I'm going to share this experience with all my family and friends that cashiers at the sportsman are rude and you should not go there . Had a bad experience here yesterday with my dad.. trying to buy ammo and we went to buy.a pack that had multiple on a shelf labeled $35.99 but rang up $64.99.. I took a picture after they told me the price it was ringing up and they said that it was misplaced and an accident.. being a manager in customer service retail I KNOW that if we misplace something with the wrong price we need to give them that price.. the girl laughed in my face and said they wouldn't give me that price and said some other customer must have moved them.. uh yeah moved all the boxes there? Never Again---I live a mile away from Sportsman Warehouse in Salem and I will never again step foot in their building! They have no sense of customer service and certainly no business sense. I am a recreational target shooter and I went to their store four times to buy 22 ammo, and was told four different stories; 1st time they are out, 2nd time they are out due to others buying all the product and reselling it for huge profits at gun shows etc., 3rd time I was told they were out and that they get shipments three times a week, when asked what time they said they didn't know. Yesterday I was told they have it, but under orders from HQ they are to put the stock out on a particular schedule, when asked when, I was told the they aren't allowed to tell me. They don't was the long lines of customers to buy the product---WOW a business that doesn't was customers! If there is such a high demand then the price should be raised, the rule of supply and demand. If others are buying all your stock to hoard/resell it for 4-5 times the purchase price--Raise the price! It is basic business school, supply/demand dedicates price. It is time to send your corporate staff back to school. Raising the price allow normal customers to buy the product. A store that doesn't want long lines of customers?? It is time to fire the Corporate staff! I will be addressing this directly to HQ, Facebook, Twiiter, and any and everywhere I can. Hopefully, I can reach there board of directors, and if they won't listen it is time for shareholders to vote them out! read more

This place has gotten ridiculous. They have a major problem keeping items in stock. I went there for some steelheading tackle recently, and couldn't get anything I needed. In the bobber section almost all the pins they hang them on were empty. I went in the back to get some line that is a popular brand and stood there for several minutes while some young guys behind the counter talking about non work related stuff just ignored me as if I was invisible. They could have at least said "someone will be right with you sir". Finally an older guy asked if he could help me. I asked for some well known braided fishing line that many fisherman use and they didnt have any of it, again alot of empty pins hung on the wall in the bulk line section. I went at a time when the rivers had been blown out for a while, thinking they would have the popular items in stock. This place is a joke! I will be shopping at Dicks from now on. read more
