I went to the local VA and told them all about this place. If I cant trust this place you cant, I have over 350 reviews on yelp. I lived on Fort Ord in Monterey, I lived on Camp Pendleton I lived near Moffett, I lived in Nevada my family worked on Nellis Air Force base. I have been everywhere.. My Grandfather was even working at The Naval Post Graduate School in Monterey. This is the first time I was ripped off at a Surplus store. Never go to this place, I wont forget this experience or how the guy told me I lied over a $3 patch.

He listened to my son who is only 10 and treated him with the same respect as he did me. After understanding what he wanted Nate shared with us it would have to be ordered. He did everything right there with us. He ordered the bat and discussed all the warranty options and how to handle if we had any issues. I was very impressed. My son was so happy when it arrived only a couple days later. Nate was professional and knowledgeable about so much more too. Very seldom do I go there and they do not have what I want, and their prices are always competitive. The second reason I love Ricks is that I can ask them the hard questions about fishing and they always have the answers. What type of rod for what kind of fishing, soft tip vs hard tip, what lb test, what is biting lately and where, what lures or bait is good for now. They are always willing to take the time to give you the answers in detail, no problem. Rick is a very skilled custom rod builder. Recently I had him look at a custom rod I had beaten up over 15 years and told him I'd like to replace it with something similar, because I liked it so much. Rather than sell me a new rod he suggested that the blank in this rod was a very good & expensive blank & he offered to rebuild the rod for me for $80.00 rather than spend $260.00 to get a comparable new rod. Wow, I wish you could see the rebuilt rod, it is absolutely beautiful, better than when it was new, absolutely fantastic.
