Overflow parking is available on the other side of the senior center and town hall, which are both in the same complex. Be prepared to yield to children, elderly pedestrians, and occasionally police cars.

They get some fairly new movies in circulation and they have tons of video games for all systems. What's crazy is that video games are like $2 for 2 weeks and movies are like a buck each for a week. Don't quote me on those prices, but it's cheap. Makes you wonder why people still rent from Blockbuster and Independent video stores... Either way I always see those sometimes hard sometimes soft things ...tacos? No, I think it's something with a B. I see a TON of them on my way to the games/movies. I picked one up once and while the cover had me fooled into thinking it was something delicious it turns out they aren't edible.

Outside their lobby they feature a high school at work from students. Very talented artists. While I'm not a Monroe resident, I can utilize their computers, relax and read their books or magazines, unfortunately I don't have borrowing privileges.

I'm a PhD Candidate in History, so I've been to and used many university libraries... and I love…read morethis place. Rutgers has many libraries (math, science), so it's important to keep in mind if you are doing research that it's collections pertain to the arts/humanities/social sciences. The collections are quite extensive, 3 stack floors, a separate floor for government documents, and another for periodicals. As a historian, I've been very happy with the history collection. If you are a student, if there is a book they do not have, you can request it from another library through inter library loan and they are quite fast! The basement contains Alex's special collections. When I was getting my masters I found them quite useful and the staff both friendly and knowledgeable. They have limited hours, do check the website. On the second floor is the East Asian Library. I'm not familiar with that collection for all the books are written in Chinese or Japanese, but I've heard it has some rare books and the head librarian is an expert. As far as places to study, there are three reading rooms with tables, outlets, and comfy chairs. Artwork is all along the walls and there are plenty of windows thst brighten the room. There is also a graduate reading room. The microfilm readers are also in the basement, as well as scanners and copy services. The circulation desk and access services staff are extremely helpful and friendly. I worked there as an undergraduate and made life long friends with the staff. I popped in recently to do research for my dissertation while home in New Jersey and they recognized me immediately. Is was like I never left. Rose, Jillian, Brian, Megan, Will, Rob are all wonderful people. What's really great about Alexander is that it is public. You can walk in and look at the collections or use selected computers with a guest ID and password. You just can't take the books out of the library LOL! Alexander does offer guest and alumni borrowing, which I think is great. As an alumni, you can get a library card and check out I think up to 25 books at a time. You can also obtain a guest borrowing membership, by paying a certain fee per year. I can't recall the fee of the top of my head, but it's not bad. Parking is annoying. Alexander Library is located in New Brunswick on college avenue. Your best bet is meter parking, where you can park up to 8 hours. There is a parking deck if you are a student or employee with the correct parking pass... but without it I would not pa rk there. Ticket city! I would knock the library down a star for parking but it's just the nature of the city and a public university. This is a great library. Enjoy.

As a teacher and someone who tutors students at the South Brunswick Public Library multiple days…read moreeach week, I truly appreciate having a public space dedicated to learning. Unfortunately, my experience over the past several weeks has become increasingly frustrating. The biggest issue is that children are running, yelling, and playing throughout the entire library--not just in the children's section. The noise level has become so disruptive that it is often difficult for my students to focus during tutoring sessions. Instead of the quiet environment a library is meant to provide, it frequently feels chaotic. I am also concerned about safety. I have personally witnessed children running through the aisles, playing tag, climbing on bookshelves, screaming at the top of their lungs, and even walking around without shoes. These behaviors create safety risks not only for the children but for other patrons as well. I understand that libraries are community spaces and that children are welcome. However, there still needs to be reasonable supervision and enforcement of library rules so everyone can enjoy the space. Students, tutors, remote workers, and many others rely on the library as a quiet place to study and work. I hope the library can take steps to address these concerns and restore the calm, safe environment that so many members of the community depend on.

Horrible staff. Will never be coming back…read more Went to meet up with other classmates to study for our doctoral program midterms. We booked a room for 2 hours and then another friend booked the room for the next 2 hours. The librarian came in - Marry, and told us she CANCELED our second reservation, once we checked in for the second reservation, and told us we had to leave, because another group had the room... We were not being disruptive and were simply studying when she interrupted and was so RUDE. She really must have been having a bad day and took it out on three 20-something-year-olds. Extremely rude and unkind. Do not go here waste of your time and not even a great space! AND you have to bring your own HDMI cord... weirdd

The clean aesthetics and openness give you a sense of calm and a desire to be there, whether for studying or taking classes. They have book clubs and instructional classes ranging from hands-on cooking to needlework. They offer to take U.S. passport photos. They have so much to offer besides wonderful books. This lending library sources tools (yes, you read this correctly), museum passes, videos, eBooks, eAudio, and other resources beyond just books. You can even exchange clippings for plants. Am I fan girling here? You betcha!

English literature they have stopped accepting books donation, and foreign language literatures, they would have to check, but most likely they won't accept. Be sure the foreign language books are educational and in mint condition. Inside the library was smaller than I thought, but it was cozy in each floor. Although the library is overall very quiet, I couldn't find an empty study room, during Summer vacation, and in the morning! Glad to see our younger generations still read and study!! Not only no study room available, but all seatings are occupied. Mix feeling ... I wonder how's it like during weekends. I decided to walk around before I left the library. There was an undone puzzles spread on the public table. Very cute and welcoming. The staffs are friendly and attentive.

Amazing place to get some quiet studying done. This place was my go-to spot while studying for my…read morelicensing exam. They have several cubicles (~20 or so) throughout the library with a plethora of outlets for all your charging needs. Several fast & free wifi networks available. They also have a quiet room with tables and a section with greenhouse-styled glass walls (as Pallabi G. mentioned), which doubles as an especially peaceful sanctuary when you're feeling the stress of studying for the biggest exam of your life and need to ponder about life. The staff initially seem a bit unfriendly (no hellos or even eye contact) however go above and beyond if you ever flag them down and need their assistance--anything from information to finding a book. Then again that's just jersey. Lacking of a star: other than 2 vending machines and 1 coffee machine (that were frequently out of order) there are no food/drink options. Any food options in the area are a bit of a drive, so I would suggest getting your morning caffeine on the way and pre-packing lunch if you plan to spend the whole day there. I also wish they opened earlier one or two days a week; they would almost always have a line at the door before their 10 am opening every day.
