The physical plant itself is rather small and could easily be expanded with all the real estate there. The staff seemed friendly. And instructed me to go downstairs because I was attending a concert/presentation of musical composers. The presentation was excellent but the library seriously lacked modern technology. And as a result the presenter told us of the mechanical problems in his introduction. But it all worked out for the best possible means. In a town as affluent as Colts neck, one would think that a public facility would be on top of their "game". Not the case.

Quaint little library that is heavily beloved by the residents of Freehold Borough. This is not to…read morebe mixed up with the Monmouth County Library, Headquarters at Symmes Drive. Only the residents or students of Freehold Borough can have access to this hidden gem. They are currently celebrating Bruce Springsteen's 70th birthday by having an exhibit celebrating is life. For those who don't know, was born in Long Beach, NJ but he spent his formative years in Freehold, NJ. He even played at the Elks Lodge in Freehold. It's worth checking out if you are a Springsteen fan. This library is not the most quiet. The fact that it is on the main street and it is a bit drafty, you must understand it is an old building. "Classic Carnegie" architectural style. Within these walls, there are copiers, public computers, newspapers and magazines, and storytime for children of all ages. The staff are nothing short of helpful and will give you the welcoming feel as they chit chat with you. Like all small libraries, the voices do carry so if you are in dire need to study and need absolute quiet, this would not be the place for you.

We booked a room for 2 hours and then another friend booked the room for the next 2 hours. The librarian came in - Marry, and told us she CANCELED our second reservation, once we checked in for the second reservation, and told us we had to leave, because another group had the room... We were not being disruptive and were simply studying when she interrupted and was so RUDE. She really must have been having a bad day and took it out on three 20-something-year-olds. Extremely rude and unkind. Do not go here waste of your time and not even a great space! AND you have to bring your own HDMI cord... weirdd

Though it's a smaller library compared to East Brunswick, there is something for everyone. They have a decent children's section with a small play and game area, computers for the patrons to use, a quiet study room, young adult section, tons of DVDs, games, books on cds, magazines, and of course books! Sometimes I like coming here and perusing the book titles for a good read. They even have foreign language books and movies. There is a lot of seating, tables, and places to study or get your work done. The staff is helpful and nice. If you are a member of another library in Middlesex county, you can have other books or items shipped to this library and pick it up when it arrives. Super convenient! If you need to print something in color, it costs $.25! Such a good deal! Black & white are $.10 each. If you're not a fan of rambunctious tweens, I would avoid going here between 3-4PM during the weekdays. Most kids just don't know how to act in libraries. Love this place and am thankful for all they do for the community.

Books they don't have, you can often borrow from other libraries in the network. All of the librarians have always been friendly and helpful. Also there have been many times when my home printer wasn't working and it was a lifesaver to be able to come here and print my documents at a cheap price. It's also a relaxing place to just sit and read a book!
