With a seating capacity of 13,000, this is truly a Texas-Sized venue. It is perfect for high school football playoffs, which was exactly why I was here. When I pulled up to the stadium I was blown away by its size. I was also very impressed by the availability of parking. The design of the lot really made there not be a bad spot in the lot, and there was ample room for the plethora of busses that that it takes for schools to take their shows on the road. Other great amenities that this place has is modern and bright lighting, decent concession and restroom options, and great views of the field from all over the stadium. The one downfall I noticed was there are a LOT of stairs, and that can be troublesome for some attendees. For example, the people sitting next to me left their elderly parents on the lower level where there was not as good of a view in order to get a better view for themselves. Overall though, this is a very good venue, despite this inconvenience.

This stadium is owned by GCISD school district and the home stadium for CHHS & GHS high schools respectively. They host Thursday & friday night football games here, as well I think they use it for high school soccer during the spring. They may also use the track for track & field events but I don't recall ever hearing or going to those events. I've heard they will also hold dare program type things there for the younger schools in the district. When you go in expect a decent trek up hill to get to the stands, it can be kind of painful for those with health issues but it will give you a little bit of a work out to work off one or two of those nachos your going to get! They don't have a covered doam, so expect to dress for weather! If your attending a friday night football game there, parking is going to be a pain. You can't find parking in stadiums parking after a certain point. So if you want to park there I suggest getting their really early for the times they have tailgate type events which they usually have before every game. That or bring your own tailgate foods & non-alcoholic drinks to enjoy until they open the gates to come in. I normally suggest going ahead and parking at GHS high school which is walking distance. If you don't want to walk it they run school buses from that parking lot to the stadium gates, which my daughter loves to do so it's worth it to park further, and you get valet drop off at the gate so with small kids it rocks. Concessions are your usually basics ... soda, candy, nachos ... usually they will have at least one School district sponsors food option there like chick fil a or papa johns there as well to sell sandwiches or slices of pizza. Like where CFA will sell or donate them 500 sandwiches at a reduced amount to sell for "full" price at the stands to raise $. Concessions are usually run by one of the schools band booster parents so proceeds go to support the band programs. The field used to be grass but they upgraded to AstroTurf a couple years after I graduated high school, so I think around 2006-2007. Overall not a bad stadium, but it has been there for a long time so there is always room for improvement, but you can tell the district does what it can when it has the funds to do so.

What a great stadium to take in a college game! I know it sounds trite, but there is not really a bad seat in the house. While I used to have season tickets and sat in the same place, I gave them up a few years back and now buy game to packages in different areas. I say that to emphasize, the seats are really good wherever you sit. The stadium also has several amenities making it a great place. One notable one is that there is ample bathrooms for the crowds, thus you almost never see a line to get into them. There are several food and beverage concession areas too. This is one area they could improve...while they get people in and out quickly, the sodas from them are often watered down, the pretzels and popcorn etc sit out just a little too long, and the prices just a little too high. I paid $7 for a bottled water. There really is a huge opportunity for SMU to do better by their fans in this area. I am gonna start with the positive first, overall. I had lots of fun overall, and there was plenty…read moreof seating for everyone who came to the game. I also appreciate SMU for allowing their football stadium to be used for the first responders' bowl. Ok, now, for the opportunities, there was not nearly enough parking for everyone to park near the stadium. Additional parking was not clearly identified, so we had to keep asking people who worked there or who went to school about where we could park. We finally found a parking garage that was about 10 minutes away from the stadium walking. Once we got to the stadium. We went to 3 different gates before we got to the right gate. It would have been nice if the gates had been more clearly marked, but the staff was very helpful about getting us to the right gate eventually. Finally, I guess they did not consider how much alcohol college students drink, especially at Texas State and Rice because most of the alcohol besides beer was sold out by halftime, so that was a little disappointing. Again, overall, I had a blast, and I would definitely go to another game. But I have learned a lot of lessons for next time.

I believe it would certainly benefit all those involved if there was larger signage. Squinting from road to figure out where to park isn't ideal... Even if there was a sign at the corner of each parking lots entrance wit the field options would be helpful, other than that I would like more healthier snack options when the cart comes around.

We did not use the restroom, so I cannot comment on their state. I didn't notice any play structures here. There is a covered gazebo area close to the parking lot and there are more trees for shade on that side. The parking lot "E" on Wimbledon was chaotic, with people double parking everywhere. It's not bad, but I prefer when we play at Valley Ridge.

The scoreboard is decent, but not utilized for middle school track events, a shame really. You do have to pay for most FWISD athletic events, which is plain silly IMHO.

Arlington finally got its own Turkey Trot a few years ago. Its been growing every year but it's…read morestill not as ridiculously crowded as the one in Dallas. The Arlington Turkey Trot benefits the Shoe Bank- a non-profit run by an amazing man named Mike Barringer. They accept new or used shoes to donate to homeless and women's shelters. He started up in 1989 with the goal to provide shoes to local homeless men in the metroplex, but now has grown nationally and even overseas. With a great benefactor like that, how could you not participate on Thanksgiving morning?? Plus it's nice to have a little run before stuffing your face :)
