I had a very disappointing experience here. My first spray tan in Mission Valley was rushed, and the tech missed obvious areas like my knees, hands, and ankles. I reached out to the owner, and she offered to make it right and credit my account with a complimentary tan at her Bankers Hill location. I drove all the way there (25 minutes from me), only to find out the only parking available was paid parking or free parking six blocks away. Being 7 months pregnant in 80-degree heat, that just wasn't realistic. I ended up leaving without going in, which was another waste of time and gas. On top of that, I went on a Tuesday when their instagram clearly advertised "$40 Spray Tan Tuesday," but I was charged $50. After two trips, extra money, and still no even results, this is very disappointing. While I appreciate that the owner tried to make it right, the experience overall has been frustrating and inconvenient. My tan was uneven and streaky (see photos), and I wouldn't recommend this place. In response to the owners reply My knees and hands were never touched or rubbed nor did any water get on my knees. Those pictures are as soon as I got home, the problem was the girl was rushing and didn't care what the tan looked like. I've had plenty of spray tans in the past and it's never looked like that. As far as the $40 special I would think the tech would bring that up rather than a new customer having to ask. As a hairstylist when I'm running a promo for my clients I don't expect them to ask it's automatically applied to their service. I asked her to do the "double dip" tan and she was hesitant because it was my first time with her then didn't do everything twice like she did the first pass or it would've been even all around and dark. I have been to this location several times, and all of the staff members made me feel at ease with my tan experience, which means a lot when you're a bigger gal in the nude. I only docked a star because my last experience (do not recall the tanner) left me splotchy for over a week, so I highly recommend you ask questions and review all tips and tricks for aftercare and tan maintenance to avoid embarassing stains. Not all of them will go through it all with you, perhaps assuming you already know. I have an event on Saturday and as suggested by Brittany, had my spray on Thursday evening. I'm blown away! This is my first experience having a person spray paint me. I was a bit nervous. The salon is beautiful, clean and tidy and I had no trouble finding it or parking. Brittany brought me in right away and explained the process. The dress I am wearing could show tan lines so I undressed completely. Brittany was so professional and really made me feel comfortable. I'm surprised that I can't smell the tanner 3 hours after leaving. I have been in a spray booth before and always felt dry and stinky until I showered. Not to mention the spray booths can't turn you to get every place or crack or cheek. I am thrilled with the results so far and can't wait to see how it develops over the next day. Giving 2 stars because so far the tan looks decent! The rest of the experience was.... Ehh.. not so much. (I expressed the following concerns to Brittany when she sent me a check in text a week after the session, but have yet to receive a response) This was my first spray tan experience since I was a teenager, so I definitely needed the play by play. I checked in 10 minutes early and Brittany was 10 minutes late to my session as she was working with another client - ironic, as I received several texts and emails notating how important it was to be on time as sessions are only 20 minutes. Yeah, okay. I had specifically booked this session with Brittany based on the many great reviews posted here. To my surprise, Brittany would be doing at most about 10% of my spray tan while she would have a trainee complete the rest. Mind you, I was not notified of this, given a choice, or given a discount. I struggle with social anxiety, so it was extremely difficult to speak up in the moment, but being in such a vulnerable position, I would expect a bit more sensitivity and customer service. The person training did a fine job, I did enjoy the color and the entire office/salon was super cute. I will absolutely not be back though. I understand this salon has many return clients who I don't doubt have great experiences. Taking advantage of new clients is not it though. The fact that I still felt obligated to leave some kind of tip makes my stomach turn. For newbies, I recommend looking elsewhere. Update 4/5: Brittany did respond Monday morning after my message on Friday. She offered and processed a refund as well as apologized, which was much appreciated. However, the response below does not match what she explained to me. They obviously have not given all clients the option to opt of of training since she mentioned this is something they would start doing in the future.
