Ahhhhhh feeling refreshed after my facial at Peel Simply Skin. I signed up for a basic facial and it was amazing. They turn down the lights and have relaxing music - it's amazing. The products they use smell amazing and feel so good on the skin. The bed you lay on can be heated if preferred which was so nice. Nicole was informative in the beginning and didn't talk a ton during the process so I could really relax and enjoy it. The massage on my shoulders was perfect! Not too light or hard. Felt amazing! This is gonna be my first review of 2022 and Peel Simply Skin def worth this review of mine. I found Peel Simply Skin through Yelp recommendations. I love my skin and my body so much that I'm very very careful when choosing service providers for anything related to my body. Let me tell you, I did skim through almost 400 yelp reviews here before booking my appointment. Being in the business for more than 10 years with less than 10 negative reviews did say something exceptionally good about them. And for those negative reviews, I appreciate how Elisa, the owner, spent time to respond in a detailed, professional manner. I even checked their social media accounts. I can tell how much efforts and passion Elisa and her team put into this business. That's when I knew Peel Simply Skin is the place to go. At the time, I just moved to San Diego for 3 weeks. The transition to a new house in a new city wasn't easy for me. My sleeping routine was affected negatively, and so was my skin. I didn't drink enough water, and also hadn't touched any products besides moisturizer and SPF for 3 weeks. The water at my place seems to be harder than where I lived before. My skin was dry, dull, and peeling a lot. I also had some tiny pimples all around my face. I knew it was desperately in need of a good pampering. That was when I scheduled my appointment with Nicole at Peel Simply Skin. As a first timer, I wasn't sure what to expect. Thankfully, Nicole was there to guide me through the whole process. Prior to my appointment, I sent them an email providing a detailed history of my skin, including routines and current conditions. To be honest, I didn't expect they would read it (it seems like they are fully booked all the time). To my surprise, Nicole did read my email. When I came in for my appointment, she addressed every single detail and concern I put in that email. Nicole was very professional. She gave me her honest opinions and recommendations for how to be better at my current skincare routine using the products I've been using. I know they have their own products, but I didn't feel pushed to purchase anything at all. After discussing my questions, she gave me a full introduction of the facial, and informed me every single step of what she was going to do. What I appreciated more is that, regardless what you schedule for, they will recommend what your skin needs and tailor the treatments to your current skin conditions. My facial ended with a neck and shoulder massage. It was soo good that I fell asleep twice. My face was slightly pink afterwards, which I was informed at the beginning of the appointment, but it got back to normal the next day. I don't know if it was the facial, or the massage at the end, but that night I had the best sleep since moving here. I woke up the next morning with a glowing, soft, smoother skin, and refreshing body. The whole experience was so good that I can't wait to revisit them soon. The place itself is very cute, clean, and smell very good. They have good background music for you to relax while enjoying your facial. I just love the ambiance there. I had a very pleasant experience with Nicole. But I'm sure I will be okay choosing "No preference" when making appointments next time. I hope this long review of mine can help you decide your next facial provider. Tip 1: Follow their IG account. If you can't get the appointment you want, they post last minute openings on IG stories every day. That was how I got my appointment with Nicole. Tip 2: Arrive 15mins early to park. It was easy to park, but there will be some walking as they are street parking. Tip 3: Email them for any concern, question. They don't usually pick up phone, cuz they have sessions with clients all day. But they will reply to your emails at their earliest convenience. Tip 4: Make sure you fill out the form they sent prior to arrival, so you can have more time discussing with your esthetician. I like how they ask if we want a silent facial on the form. I have been a regular customer in Peel Simply Skin since 2019 and I would like to write this review to compliment on their professional and friendly services over the years. The space is nice and clean with cute decoration. It is definitely a good place to come for relaxation. The staff here are very knowledgeable and experienced! I've always struggled with acne and have been told by dermatologists for years that because my acne was hormonal, the only real solution was birth control, steroids, and other very harsh treatments. After wanting to detox off the birth control pills, my acne flared up. Once I turned 30 I decided I'd really invest in my skin and seeing what an esthetician could do for me. Update to Elisa's response LOL Would not normally upload texts but i see that's she's done it in the past on yelp so as you can see: I explicitly stated I love seeing managers stand up for their people as I'm in service too (: and I literally never asked for a refund LOL so i don't know why she brought those up in her response! these were not my issues, the way that Elisa herself handled the situation and spoke to me wo understanding was (: FURTHERMORE: I had made it clear that the last time I had gotten this service done was a year and a half ago and that I didn't remember how it went! Also, the 'post peel care info' was required to be signed before the facial and that form was immediately unavailable after signing. So how is that helpful to the client? I understand that you made changes to that policy after I brought it to your attention but that does mean that I didn't get the proper post care instructions. That responsibility should be on the esthetician to provide and not on the client to demand. This place is amazing! I recently did the get glowing peel with Mallory. She was knowledgeable about the process and she always made sure I was comfortable. The peel is great. You shed for a few days but it's nothing intensive or uncomfortable. I can already see the difference and it's a great peel for maintenance (dark spots, color correcting). I would still get there early, so you aren't late for your appointment. There is a little waiting area with tons of products to peruse. The rooms for the services are cutely decorated and very clean. I went to Peel for the first time a week ago. My favorite spa is closed on Mondays, and I had a Monday off and decided that I wanted a facial. So, I used Yelp to try to find a place that was open, centrally located, and with great reviews. It was a really small place, but clean and cute. They have a code to enter the door, and apparently they send it out with your confirmation. Of course, I don't notice things like that, so I walked into the wrong place. Anyway, once I found my place back, I was kindly greeted and walked into a cozy lobby that smelled of lightly scented candles. I selected the facial that was specifically for new customers. I filled out the new customer paperwork, that was a bit long, but I appreciated their interest in my skin and my preferences. I like the fact that they ask if I prefer conversation or quiet during a facial. I actually despise conversation and think of a facial as one of the few times in life I don't have to make small talk. I also like the fact that they ask if we want to be presented with products to buy. I actually hate that too. Here, she showed me a couple things she used with no pressure to buy, which was a lot better. As for the facial, it included microdermabrasion, extractions, and several masks and moisturizers.
