I genuinely thought every girl who helped me was sweet and professional. My issue is with the product and the results. I purchased a package of three spray tans. After my first session, I loved how it looked when I left, but once it developed, I looked extremely orange. Like Donald Trump Orange.... I couldn't even wait very long before booking my second session because I wanted to fix it. At my second appointment, I explained that I didn't like how orange I became. I've only had spray tans done in Miami before this, and I've never had this issue. I was told we'd try a different solution or method. During that visit, I also ended up purchasing a $45 tan remover and exfoliating mitt because it was recommended for my next appointment. Looking back, I don't really feel like I needed it, and I honestly felt a little pressured into buying it. It's still sitting unused. Unfortunately, my second spray tan was even worse. It was sticky, developed with noticeable streaks, and I looked orange again. It was so bad that I showered it off within an hour because I couldn't stand how it looked. When I came back for my third session, I had the same technician who did my first tan. I explained everything that happened during my second visit. She mentioned that my clothing may have contributed to the streaking, so I followed all of her recommendations and wore loose clothing afterward. She also told me we'd use an espresso solution so I wouldn't turn orange this time. The application itself was great. It wasn't sticky, and she did a beautiful job applying it. But once it developed, I was orange AGAIN. At that point, I realized this just isn't the right product for my skin tone. I'm Latina with olive skin, and I tan naturally very well. I was looking to become darker version of myself like healthy, bronzed glow. Instead, every time the tan developed, it leaned orange on me, and I was unhappy with the result. That's why I'm leaving a 2-star review. Honestly would've let a 1 star review for the tan and products but gave an extra star because how nice were the employees. They were all genuinely kind and tried to help. But after three different sessions, three opportunities to adjust the process, and multiple conversations about my concerns, I still ended up with the same result. Maybe these products work great for other skin tones, and that's reflected in the many positive reviews. But if you have an olive or naturally tan complexion like mine, I think it's important to know that your experience may be different. I considered reaching out privately instead of leaving a review, but after three appointments, I'm not really sure what the solution would be. Another spray tan would likely give me the same outcome. I spent money on a package, additional products, and multiple appointments, only to end up removing the tan because I didn't like how orange it looked. I truly appreciate how kind everyone at the salon was, and I wish I had a better experience. I just think there may be a gap in either the product selection or the approach for clients with olive skin tones, and I hope this feedback helps improve the experience for future customers.

Wow! I love getting a spray tan! And Joanna is incredible. Not only does she come to you, but her work is outstanding! Even, no streaks, gorgeous bronze color and it's done in 15 minutes! I hate having to put something on, drive over to a spa or taning place, maybe wait until it's my turn, undress and get ready freezing as they start spraying - not for me! I had an awful experience at a place in North County and maybe it was my fault but they should have known better. I wanted to be 'dark, so they kept spraying me but when I got home, I started streaking all over the place and then to top it all off, it dried that way and I had a date that night! I was so upset driving back while they waited for me, handed me a bottle of something and said to scrub it all over my body when I got home. What a fiasco! I looked like a clown! And there was nothing I could do about it no matter how much I scrubbed myself getting redder and redder on top of the streaks! It sounds like a comedy skit but there was nothing funny about it until my date arrived and he asked what happened to me! It wall worked out in the end - we both had a good laugh but he never asked me out again! But the best part of SUMMER SHEEN SPRAY TANNING IS IT'S ODORLESS!! YOU DON'T HAVE THAT TERRIBLE SMELL THAT COMES WITH GETTING A SPRAY TAN! Being somewhat older, I'm very aware of what the sun can do as far as damaging your skin. I'm done with wrinkles and age spots! Years ago people didn't know about the damage the sun causes and had to sit for hours in the sun just to get a tan. I've been getting custom spray tans here for about a year now. Joanna, the owner, creates the perfect golden color for your own skin tone. I don't like to tan in the beds or out in the sun, so this is the best alternative. People constantly compliment me on my tan and are so surprised when I tell them it's a spray. It's the closest thing to a real golden glow and it's much better for your skin. The spray lasts about a week, so once it begins to fade, I scrub as much as I can off, and get another. I get a spray every week & I am completely satisfied with the results every time! I typically get a spray at night, so I can sleep on it and take a shower the next morning, but she also offers a rapid tan that you can rinse off in 1-3 hours depending how dark you want it to be. I signed up for the membership program over a year ago. It's so worth it if you tan more than 2-3 times a month. She has the best products for prepping for your tan (scrubs and exfoliators) as well as aftercare for your tan (cleansers, extenders, self tanners) etc. Oh and as a member you get 20% off all retail products! The first time I came to Summer Sheen to get a spray tan was for a planned trip I took to Cabo. Summer Sheen is hands down my favorite place to get a custom airbrush tan. The price is great and the color is perfect..super natural and last much longer than the ones I've gotten at other tanning places. The owner is super sweet and always makes you feel comfortable. Besides giving you the most gorgeous tan ever she also takes the time to educate you on the importance of skincare. She lets you know the best pre tan prep and post tan products to use to prolong the life of your tan (which could explain why the tans look so good and last so long). Before coming here, I had REALLY bad experiences with other spray tanning places, especially other ones in PB and was really hesitant about ever getting another one. However, I was going to be in a wedding in July and really needed a tan. After my first tan with Joanna, I immediately signed up for a membership and have been getting two spray tans a month for the past sixth months. The tan is ALWAYS even, natural looking and lasts a long time as long as you listen to Joanna. My family and best friends didn't even realize my tan was a spray tan when I saw them. Joanna is the best there is! I live in Del Mar and have tried every spray tanning place from Del Mar to PB and had horrible experiences from about 5 other places. You can tell by her technique that she knows what she's doing. She really takes care of you and has thought of every last detail. At the the end of the tan she drys you and uses a drying powder so your not all sticky feeling either. The tan looks so natural that I always get compliments on how nice my skin is. I also like that you can see her certifications hanging on the wall and I noticed that she is Master Certified in spray tanning. Hands down the best spray tans in San Diego! Go see her! read more

Given Jaime's great reviews I thought I would give it a shot. Hey if a figure model who gets tans all the time trusts her, I would too! As a first timer I was a little bit nervous about the process and had a few questions. "Do I get naked?" "Is orange going to get all over my sheets?" etc. Jaime made me feel very comfortable by reassuring me and answering all my questions promptly. She does work out of the Nhu Look Salon on Park Blvd which is really convenient for me since I live in North Park. She is mobile as well and can come to you! The process was painless and only took about 15 minutes. Jaime was super accommodating and even text me the next day to see how the tan looked after showering and if I needed any touch ups. I would definitely recommend Sun Kissed By Jaime if you are looking for a natural golden tan without the hassle of dealing with the sun!

Service was horrible. Disheartening. I walked in for the semi annual sale, Maria didn't explain anything I had to ask so many questions. I was interested in the photo facial and back in the day 7yrs ago they sold packets of the serum. They don't now, so I asked her what do you recommend she said anything on the wall........... I go back she doesn't tell me what to do..it's been years. The machine didn't work. I let her know she comes back and says well it's worked all day. She restarts it and it still doesn't turn on... again tells me it's been working all day..it says it's on... Eventually I left. She removed my number so they couldn't look me up at the next location so she wouldn't get a bad review. While she was able to look me up other locations weren't because she removed the number. Service was horrible. She also wrote I didn't know how to turn the machine on...... exactly it's your job since you work there, to help...
