Spring Brook Farm Country Store and their employees are wonderful! We enjoyed visiting here last weekend for the first time. We had driven by several times but never had a moment to make a purposeful visit. We certainly were not disappointed. The country store had plenty of gorgeous, fresh baked goods to choose from and also such a variety of produce. I bought some bright orange carrots and a cheddar and chive scone (which we since then have bought two more times because it's packed with flavor and delicious). There are so many other baked goods I want to try when I have the time to drop by and room in my diet...haha There is also a seafood stall outside the farm store which is year round mostly and looks to have good quality products. Honestly I love having such a great local farm store near me. They have everything from fresh eggs, meat, pies, baked goods, produce, honey, to artisan goods and seasonal items! I love going in the fall to get pumpkins and fall produce. When we went there were HUGE bins of apples outside, along with heirloom tomatoes, blueberries, raspberries, and some fresh squash. It is a bit on the more expensive side but you're paying for quality and supporting a local business. I could spend hours here and still find more to love. They have something for everyone so I'd definitely recommend to stop by! read more

This place is always fun to visit. I like the homemade quiches! The back room has lovely items such as jewelry, scarves, dishtowels, pretty matchboxes and plants as well. The items are mostly new but also some vintage and antiques mixed in. The owner has really nice taste- everything is super sweet and often nature or farm related. In the fall there are hug bins of apples to choose from. It's my go to place when I need to smile. If you want baked goods there is a nice assortment as well. Pricey or Cheap? Depends on what you get, it seems. I get firewood for a good price here, if I haul it. Big patio pots for $13.00 Unbeatable prices on Mums and Asters in the fall. ($5 for a BIG pot) Their own meat, raised right there; fed with their own grain, grown right there. Hamburgers are expensive/lb ($5). Porterhouse is cheap ($8). Er? You can buy everything from manure to antiques in this joint. It's a localvore's heaven. Great local bread to amazing smoked buffalo mozzarella. They have really cheap gladiolas and sunflowers, at the moment. 3/$2. Whole foods was selling sunflowers $5/stem. If you are anywhere near here, at least buzz by for a peek. read more

America needs more places like Spring Brook Farm. This little store is amazing. It sells the produce grown here, as well as local meats and breads. Expensive, but worth it. Folks, the food you buy in Stop & Shop is chemically laced and genetically modified. It's garbage. America needs more places like this that sell actual FOOD! Grass fed beef! No, cows don't eat corn! Ever see a cow munching on a stalk of corn? No! Ya don't! You need to go here and you need to buy and eat the foods here. Locally grown and sourced. Healthier and better tasting. Not to mention - it's a wonderfully decorated store! Among the fruits and vegetables are antiques and soaps and moisturizers. The adjoining greenhouse room has things like empty goose eggs (?!) and other very neatly displayed cool country items. It's a great little place to browse and a WONDERFUL place to shop! $6 for a pound of ground lamb is expensive, but folks, the stuff in the big supermarkets is literally THOUSANDS of different animals in one pack of ground beef/lamb/what have you. Here, it's a guarantee that the pound of lamb you bought is from a single animal. I love this store. read more

I used to live quite close to this little country store and did all of my in-season shopping here. They usually have the basics (potatoes, tomatoes, carrots, etc), but rotate out their seasonal fruits and veg. Spring Brook also has a pretty delicious sampling of cheeses, jellies, and salad dressings; I would get my bread from here (perfect cinnamon-raisin loaf!). The thing that sets Spring Brook apart from the other little stands around the area is their nick knack section. The owner enjoys sifting through estate sales and bringing them back to the stand to be staged in the greenhouse around back. Every season and holiday has its own themed arrangement (bird houses and tea sets in the spring, sleds and crystal for the winter, and their Halloween and Christmas set ups are always spectacular!). These are vintage items, not items prefabricated to look old. There is history with your purchase, not to mention you're playing into the three R's (reduce-reuse-recycle). I've had luck finding baking utensils, old books, mirrors, and pace settings (along with my small-time grocery purchases). read more

Good selection of vegetables and other local products. I much prefer to buy things here then at Shaws or any of the grocery stores. The best is the chocolate milk that they sell. They don't sell lowfat chocolate anymore so now I just pour half a glass of chocolate and then the other half as lowfat. read more

Very disappointed with this store. Before I went home to visit family, I bought almost $200 in gifts, unfortunately one item (valued at $20) was not bagged and was left behind. I declined a receipt because everything was going to Nebraska and nothing was going to be returned. I also had a high level of trust in the store, so I wasn't worried about it. When I got to Nebraska, I discovered I didn't have the gift and so I naturally assumed I left it at home. When I returned home I couldn't find it and so I called the store. While they do remember the forgotten napkin holder behind the register, there isn't anything they can do without the receipt. I did shop a lot at this farm stand and I recommended it to several folks. Sad to say, I'll have to find a new place to shop for unique gifts. read more

A two-minute drive from the entrance-way of my work brings me to a nice patch of farm stands in the quaint town of Littleton. I get jitters upon entering a small, local, family-owned farm stand at the mere thought of what fresh delicacies I may find. Mind you, as I mentioned previously, there are three farm stands directly next to each other and I have yet to choose a favorite since they all contain many a splendid goods. If Spring Brook doesn't grow, bake, or obtain it from an animal on premises, they strive to get it from the next available source! I buy my veggies, fruits, milk, and a few other treats (awesome local cheeses!) for the week and it usually runs me around $20-$25. And it is all terrific! They push the "buy local" aspect of things which I too am a huge purveyor of. Stop. Buy Local. Eat Fresh. Feel Blessed! read more

Today was one of those "10" days in Massachusetts, so staying inside wasn't an option. Mr. K and I hopped into the convertible (don't get excited; it's only a Solara) and traveled through some of the winding roads in the area, eventually reaching Spring Brook Farm. The place was buzzing. I did my research and discovered that this farm is the 11th oldest working farm in Massachusetts and has been owned and operated by the Matheson family for eight generations. Pretty impressive. Spring Brook does not have too many local fruits and vegetables thus far, but the green house is chock full of gorgeous plants and flowers. We ended up getting a patio tomato plant that also has basil at its base for a bonus. We used to have a tremendous garden with tomato plants (one time, I believe we had about 500 tomatoes, which we made into salsa and sauce), zucchini, and peas, but the deer and raccoons beat us to the punch (or produce) one season too many. We haven't had a garden in several years, but we're hoping to get at least a few decent tomatoes out of the deal this season. For $11.95, it's worth a try. Typical of country stores, this establishment has an assortment of fudge, jelly beans, cookies, pure maple sugar candies, honey, and other goodies, as well as blue and white pottery, jelly, and candles. I didn't check out the refrigerator area but at quick glance, I did notice several different types of milk, cheese, and eggs, all of which are produced by the farm. Outside are mounds of loam and mulch...and an outhouse. Can't wait to come back in several weeks to check out more home-grown vegetables. In the meantime, we're not exactly cutting the mozzarella for a tomato/mozzarella/basil salad, but we're hopeful that our patio plant lives up to expectations. read more

Yeah, the plants are nice. The store is nice. But 2 years ago I bought a truckload of composted manure for my garden and it has never been the same. It poisoned my soil. Nothing has grown good since then. I thought I must be crazy, how could they have bad compost, until I spoke to a friend of mine. He happened to have bought a load to put in a lawn, and he had the same experience. His lawn didn't grow. I have no idea what they did, but I am hoping it will wear out after several years. Buy your vegetables, buy your beef, but don't buy your compost there. read more

The place is awesome! Def over priced, but they have neat stuff. Antiques in the back are like a travel back in time. Sometimes the stuff is rotted, but for the most part everything looks fresh. they also have candy for the kids. Have to give it a 3 stars tho... One of the lady's behind the counter is nice. The other is a grouchy witch. I heard her get into it with the customer in front of me about a check....very unprofessional! My husband also asked if he could split a large carton of fruit in half because he couldn't eat all that... (it was a lot plus would probably go bad in a day or two) I can see why they would say no, but def could have been much more polite about it. I also heard her bark orders at the farm boy as if he were a dog!!! NOT cool in my book.... Get rid of the snotty lady and this place would by a 5 star! read more

A "Country Store" is generally a tourist trap in modern Massachusetts. This isn't a countryman's country store like my Aunt Versa's was -- there are some "quaint" items (and no postoffice in the corner) -- but it is a genuine specimen of the hybrid farm stand/grocery store. It reminds me of the old Carlson's store that used to be on 110/111 in Harvard. I've been a steady customer since I first stopped at Spring Brook, although it's not that close for me, even in winter. The other review covers what is in stock pretty well, with one addition: Spring Brook is now selling its own grass-fed beef (frozen). Prices are good on most produce, especially the homegrown of course, and eggs. If you don't find the veggie you want here -- say they're out of white corn for the day -- an eastern outpost of the Gary's empire is right across the road. read more

And if you're in a pinch for a small thoughtful gift, they have all sorts of items from jewelry to tea towels to plants. Definitely a go to place! I love Spring Brook Farm! They have an amazing selection of their own farm raised meat. It is the BEST meat I have ever had! I think it is wonderful that their cows are fed grass and grain the they grow themselves. I love seeing them grazing when I drive by the farm. They have a very wide selection of items, from hand selected antiques, fruits, vegetables, milk, cheese, fresh bread, cookies, eggs, and much, much more! Everything I need, all in one place. Work in Kendall sq and discovered them at the farmers market. I look forward to seeing them every Wednesday now! Amazing Kale, Whole Foods can't even compare. This one is just perfect, sweet and crunchy not bitter and stale. The raspberries are out of this world! So sweet and dark magenta, like they ought to be, not the light pink color you find in your regular super market. The staff is really polite and friendly too!! read more

I absolutely love this store! I bring all my freinds and family here when they come to visit and they're always blown away by how much is going on within Spring Brook. The baked goods, focaccias, and pies are all to die for and there's nothing better than seeing them come over fresh from the kitchen. The staff working are always very kind and personable, and always more than willing to run over and check to see whats hot from the oven. I brought my mother into the store the other week and she was amazed by the selection of their own fresh picked vegetables, it was all displayed so beautifuly with so many varities of potatoes and beans and squash. The jewlery displays are always so fabulous I love going in to shop for bracelets and earings for my freinds and I'm always garunteed to find something unique and eye catching. Lately in the summer time Spring Brook keeps a fresh supply of hand picked flowers right near the front doors, they're beautiful bouquies that I can't resist to treat myself to! I adore this store, it's the perfect one stop shop, it's so convient right off the highway, I pass it everyday and pull in for the best steaks and bacon I've ever had! They just won an award for best beef in Littelton I'm so happy for them! I follow them on Facebook just to keep updated with all things new to the store! The cows live in filthy and crowded conditions. There are no green pastures for these poor animals. It surely is animal cruelty. The pigs fare a little better but not much. It cannot be said that the animals lead a pleasant life before being slaughtered. read more

I love this place! I'm in here all the time. I buy tons of their awesome fruits and veggies. They always have stuff fresh from the field. Also super fresh baked goods, jams, and jellies.
