From Boston, it's a scenic drive out to Stow. I couldn't stop gushing over the foliage on the way there - I've turned into a total leaf peeper. Carver Hill is absolutely stunning in the fall, definitely worth a trip. Pleasantly surprised to find the lot half-empty when we arrived on the later side of a Saturday but then it filled up by the time we left around 3. To your right, as soon as you drive in, you'll see an area with pumpkins and the farm store - this is also where you get PYO fruit/veggies if you're paying with credit. If you have cash on hand, you can pay for a bag at the little stand right in front of the orchard. A peck (the smaller bag) was $25. I was a little skeptical at the size but it's a good deal if you really pack your apples in there. From there, the apple orchard. Not the biggest I've been to and the selection was understandably limited. We missed the sign to download the QR code for a map of the orchard and so had to rely on a photo of a thin pole with all the names/colors wrapped around it. Don't forget to stop at the store before you leave. I grabbed some pumpkin pie, jam, and an apple cider donut - they also have apple cider slushies and multiple flavors of ice cream. The donut was THE BEST, made fresh, almost falling apart, thick and generous coating of cinnamon and sugar (also tasted nutmeg and allspice in the coating). Absolutely worth waiting in the line for, but make sure to pay first and get a little yellow receipt/tag from the register before you get in line for the donuts.

There are also plenty of other types of fruit that you can pick at this orchard besides apples. For example, one can pick peaches, blueberries, and pears. We have been coming here for several years and haven't gotten around to partaking in this activity of picking other fruits than apples. There is also a big tent we can get homemade hard cider and listen to music from live musicians. There are hay rides and there's also a giant maze which your kids might love. Perhaps you will love it too. We highly recommend Honey Pot Orchards for a fun family day!

I joined a friend on a hot and humid summer morning to indulge in the fun of unlimited time in the fields/rows of flowers. It's as simple as trading your keys for the loan of a set of "snips" and walk the fields, cutting what looks good to you and creating bouquets as you go. For $20 you can fill a mason jar, or for $75, you can have a basket that hooks over your arms to fill with as many stems as you can! There are limits to certain varieties- like only 5 dahlias, please. The rows are very obviously and carefully marked with any restrictions. I filled my jar with enough flowers to create two arrangements once I got home! I made the rookie mistake of trying to trim and arrange as I was picking- I won't do that again bc it limits creativity once you're home. Frejulian's offers a subscription to the farm so you can visit every week for new bouquets! This runs July-October. Frejulian's also has a robust fruit and veggie stand. The produce was more expensive than the grocery store but looked beautiful. I was not in the market for food today. The only negatives to the experience are choosing how to create your bouquet out of the multitudes of choices and while the bees are certainly needed for the pollination of these beauties, there are a lot. The friend I was with had been stung last week and was nervous about any repeat experiences. I will most definitely be back- this is a fun addiction!!

The environment was amazing and very relaxing with all the rows of flower beds you were able to pick from and each row had different breeds of flowers. The staff was very friendly and helpful and explains where to cut the flower stems from and how many of each flower you can take to make sure everyone has a chance to get specific flowers. There is a farmers market also next to the flower picking fields that sells fruit, vegetables, and snacks. Our family favorite is the Ploughman's Lunch: rosemary ham, mango chutney, pickled red onion, cheddar, and lemony arugula on a Portuguese roll. It's the perfect balance of savory, tangy, and fresh. Our second go-to is the Pig and Fig, which is just as delicious. They also have gluten free bread available. In addition to the sandwiches, their cozy shop sells cheeses (if you love blue cheese you have got to try Rogue River!!), charcuterie, natural wines, craft beer, and carefully curated accompaniments like jams and chutneys. My friend and I got the South-West Acton. It took about 10-15 minutes to be made. I loved everything about this sandwich! It was delicious! The bread was crispy. The turkey was delicious along with the cheese and mayo. So yummy! I do think this sandwich was a little small for $16. But overall so good and the other sandwiches sounded good too.
