Here is my annual review!…read more This past weekend our little neighborhood hosted the street fair and while it was the smallest one I've ever been to, it still had all of the Rolando charm. The music was great, the food vendors were serving delicious food (I had BBQ) and the beer garden served as the constant heart of the entire thing. Props to Corbin and crew for keeping the beer cold and the bands for keeping the vibe live. Good times in a great neighborhood!

Yes…read morethe many places that you can go to you may find festivals and the large school gatherings the ones where you see dunk tank and the teachers that like to volunteer to help out . When its the neighborhoods you have more of the many people that know each and everyone and see your many friends that do stop by . Rolando Street is off El Cajon Blvd and its a nice historical area of San Diego when you come to place that has a large sign that Says Welcome to Rolando large wooden sign that can be seen when you drive in . There are many places that I have been to the many states that are north of California and the further Northern areas of the United States that have the local fireworks displays that light up the skies . When I had arrived at Rolando Street Faire that I was welcomed of the bat as I had walked past the barricade that had blocked of the street the many cars that had parked such far distances . What can you expect when you go to neighborhood festivals and the many people that you will see when I had walked up the middle of the faire I could see so many tents that had lined the streets the many people that have their own business meeting people . To get the general feel of a street faire you can get to see the many retailers those that were selling products, and the one which were connected with city and state governments that were running for office where else can you go is a family oriented street faire . The many tents that were there you could find jewelry products that were the best I have ever seen many of them were from private owners and sellers here in San Diego and some that were from out of State . The many people that I had met were very friendly and the services they had were ones that many families could use , and the services of pharmacies that had come to street faire to check blood pressure and free products . The many food trucks and the tents that had some of the best food that I have seen the ones that I liked were the funnel cake and the great pizza they had there when you have great pizza you also have great music. The concert stage they had set up over near the kid's area they had there-own adventure that had some of the climbing and blow-up wall and tumble adventure set ups . For those that like to have a good beer they had a medium size bar garden that was set up near by you got the music and get to see the music bands they ad play there . We ate at the farmer and the Del first, and then we made our way to the grandstand to our awesome private box seats. Before we got to the seats, we were able to do some tasting with the on-site Chef, which was amazing. We also had an exclusive tour of the facility and the operations as a special birthday treat! I don't think that people realize that the catering here is a full on events, extravagant catering company. They do all types of unique displays, unique foods, unique accommodations, and event preparation. It is amazing what they do at this venue. It was a really good comedy show, especially because we were able to get trays of decadent items delivered from the Chef and the staff. The catering company and serving staff here is phenomenal and I just believe that every year they make things a lot better with respect to the food, the environment, the ideas, and just the overall experience at the grandstand. As expected, the sound gets a little cloudy the higher in the grandstand you go, but sounds really good while sitting in the lower half of Terrace 3 or lower. The floor is always good if seated or in standing room only mode. I've had both the seated dinner menu packages and the catered style for concerts and those seats on the 2nd level are all great seats. There isn't really enough room for getting up to dance during the show, but you can always head down to floor if you want. Drinks can be obtained on any level as there are bars everywhere, but they can be pricey. The signature Del Mar margaritas are about $16, $18 for premium tequila in the souvenir cup. $7 call drinks are really reasonable though.

Performances include shows from the local schools in PUSD, rental clients such as SoCal Ballet, Poway Symphony Orchestra, & Tamasha SD, just to name a few. They also host a professional series of 12-15 shows a season, that are put on by Poway Onstage. This theater has a concessions with snacks & beverages plus a "hidden gem" bar for its 21+ patrons to enjoy.

From the planning to the final product, Jefferson made our event feel like the only event in the world. He has such a special charm and talent. During the wedding, all the music was picked appropriately, and when it was time to hit the dance floor, all our pics along with our families were played in really great mixes that were flowing harmonically. He takes every single detail in mind and into heart, really creating the perfect music for the event. He also sang a few songs for us and wow, what a voice. It turned out to be an absolute hit! He is not only incredibly talented, but so kind and professional too. He even customized his set to include my dad's Elvis favorites (and humored us when the birthday boy decided to "join in" on the performance ‍). He was flexible, punctual, accommodating of our requests, and made everything so easy. The guests were enamored (especially the guest of honor!), and everyone raved about his voice and how perfect the performance was for the occasion. I would trust him a thousand times over!

This review deals…read moreonly with the practicalities of attending a big band (namely, Coronado Big Band) or a jazz band performance for the sole purpose of swing dancing. There are 2-3 such performances in a year. I know of no reliable way to find out a proper concert in the series. Tips: 1) parking inside the park is possible, but might be tight by the time the performance starts (6:30PM). Come a bit earlier or attend a 5:30 free dance class. Check the lesson info on http://www.swingdancingsandiego.com/ 2) The dance happens outdoors in the shade in front of the right side of the organ pavilion structure. The dance surface is the most atrocious of the ones I have danced on so far, made of very rough and non-slippery bricks. Definitely keep your good shoes at home and avoid pivots at any cost. For the leads: lead as few turns as possible without being boring, stick to the walks whenever you can. 3) The nearest water fountain is in the restroom across the road, so bring a water bottle. Expect about 40 dancers overall, with more follows than leads, however, many dancers come as couples. Age range is huge, with both young and quite old dancers in large numbers. Skills are typically above the beginner level. The performance is quite short, and the Coronado Big Band does a lot of talking in between the numbers. Couple this with very high tempo for some of the music that makes it hard to dance, and the total number of danceable tunes is around 10. Still, highly recommended for the ambiance.

This last weekend was my first time attending this event, and I really wish I would have also…read moreattended the last two years I've been here! Apart from there being several venues where the bands were late or there was no actual music at all (despite it being advertised with set times), and the weird VIP tacos & beer deal, this event was a fun and unique experience for my partner and I. We had a friend tag along who seemed to maybe feel like there were more negatives than positives, but as someone who has been to ~30 music festivals and has lived in areas (not SD) where there are a ton of pretentious artists, I really liked how different this experience felt! Being able to bar hop to different live music sets is such a cool concept, and I loved that it was cover-free! We didn't feel pressured to buy drinks or food anywhere but we did end up doing that at almost every business we went to anyway. Some of the venues were packed and had a line for entry, but we were having enough fun that we didn't really mind the wait. We started around 3pm and headed home around 10pm, although the band we were watching still had two hours left (they were pretty good and super fun)! We got five different venues plus the "food court" in. There was a fun mix of music, a lot of which I don't usually listen to. So it was cool to experience something new. Now, the VIP meal deal thing was kinda weird. Yes, $25 is a great deal for three beers and a taco plate, but the setup was super odd. It was in a church which I believe is still being used as a church, or maybe it's just a community center now. The church is about a block or so from Adams Ave, and you can hear the music in the distance fade as you approach. We got inside and there was a bouncer in the hall, and it was pretty quiet. At first we were like "are we in the right place," but then we saw tacos and beer in the distance and thought "yeah probably." Inside there was a mission brewing tent with two dudes pumping two different kinds of beer from a mobile drink system thing, and over to the right there were long food hall-style tables with folding chairs and a self-serve taco station. I didn't love the beer options and later found out I could have opted for wine instead (from the church?). The tacos were actually fire, but they had run out of pico de gallo by the time we got our food (around 4:30). We also saw a lot of people use their hands to add cheese directly to their tacos and that was pretty gross... All in all, would do again!

Another great Unplugged day in the books…read more Maybe I'm biased (I am the Baron of Normal Heights), but I always have a great time at Adams Avenue Unplugged. It's easily one of the best events that the Adams Avenue Business Association puts on. Lots of great music hosted at some great bars, restaurants, cafes, Adams Avenue Theater, and even Normal Heights United Methodist Church where I caught California Guitar Trio. Mark your calendars for next year. I suggest taking public transportation or ridesharing. Recommended restaurants: Blind Lady Ale House and Zia Gourmet Pizzeria. Friendly suggestion for the Association: please offer vegan options for the next VIP Beer and Food Deal. Thanks, AABA!

Today's times and the many changes that are going on is many places that do get torn down and with out checking if they have historical nature and background . The on e location that was the place that you could buy freshly baked bread and get fresh cakes made it was the Grove Bakery that was in the City of Lemon Grove since 1947 . The only bakery that you could see the many people that would come for coffee and doughnuts and the many fresh baked goods the beautiful cakes and the decorated wedding cakes that you could see when you walked in the door . The many cakes and the many different kids of baked cookies they would have in the display case there would be wedding couples that would come to taste cakes for weddings . The original owners of the bakery were from Holland and the history of the bakery has so much more History that with its ties after the war and the great creations the bakery had made . When you go by the old bakery you will see several historical murals that that show the true history and the many centuries that the city of Lemon Grove has been around the many people and the tribes that have been upon the land . Yes there is History that is in Lemon Grove with College that was acting transit point between the East County and the City of Down Town San Diego .
