Located at the Balboa park, this Spreckels Organ Pavillion offers free public organ concert. Love the arch architecture of the event. Behind the concert is the parking. Immediately caught my eye as we were walking by this outside pavilion venue as they show time are every Sunday at 2:00pm. Great for families to watch. Check out the website for more information https://www.spreckelsorgan.org/summer-organ-festival

Feeling grateful to live in a city that offers free summer concerts in the park. There's something special about pressing pause on life to soak in the whimsical sounds drifting from the Spreckels Organ Pavilion. The talent on stage never fails to surprise from timeless classics to nostalgic tunes that stir up cherished memories. As the sun sets and planes glide overhead, the music fills the warm summer air. Then, as the sky fades to dusk, the pavilion comes alive with glistening lights, creating a magical backdrop that highlights both the performers and the architecture. While there's plenty of seating up close, we loved enjoying the view from the back with a simple picnic, letting the experience unfold in a relaxed, low-key way. A nice bonus: the park restrooms stay open later during concert nights, making it easy for everyone to linger and enjoy the evening. San Diego truly knows how to turn an ordinary week night into something special.

Wonderful setting and ambiance to hear a great concert. Second largest pipe organ in the county. At night its lit up with colorful lights to enhance the stage. I have been to a few performances here. Enjoyed all of them from silent movie night to a Beatles celebration. Right in the heart of Balboa Park. Please support this organization.

The largest outdoor pipe organ in the world is quite remarkable. But what was even more impressive this past weekend were the performers during Balboa Park's free weekly concert (which happens on Sunday afternoons). San Diego Civic's Raúl Prieto Ramírez was amazing on the organ, even playing the instrument using his feet, performing difficult pieces too. And since it was trumpet day, Jonah Levy, a musician for the San Diego Symphony, did his thing on multiple types of trumpets, the duo putting on a great show for the audience. The umbrella rentals for $5 were worth the cost, shielding us from the hot rays of the sun while allowing us ideal seats in the center where the sounds of the magnificent organ project best. The hour-long performance we attended was such a treat, and the Spreckels Organ Pavilion is a lovely site that has the capacity to hold a massive amount of spectators to enjoy performances like such as well. Just not a lot of shade, hence the aforementioned umbrella rentals being ideal for certain weather conditions.

One of the mostorical pieces that you can visit is the Organ Pavilion that has certain days that you can come and listen to the performances . There are food places that are near by when I visit the park for a walk about they have food carts that with the sit down restaurants which has a great happyhour. The many times that I've gone to the concerts you could get seats that you could catch the performances they would the recitals and the week end music performances . The pavilion performances they have such great sound you could bring a blanket or have a lunch at the bench seats . One of the greatest events that will be returning to the Organ Pavillion with Christmas at Balboa Park . With the many workers of the event there will be many things that you could do and see with the many performers that will be performing at the Organ Pavillion. One thing that you can say is the Organ Pavillion is one of the oldest for the organ area gives you the wide view of the park that lead down Broadway of the walk to the fountain . With the many museums that you have choice near the Organ Pavillion there is many places that you can look at which are the nature walks to patio gardens . As a Yelp Elite the walk about the park area near the Organ area the view is one of the biggest looking to see the designers why they made such a large area to draw the attention of the many the music of the organ you could. The pavilion is one of the many areas that has the looks of the Greek and roman architecture the greatest of looks.

This is a beautiful, huge area where there are sometimes concerts/performances. There is a massive organ here, but not for the public to play, and more times than not, completely locked and out of public view. I've seen many people take quinceañera photos or graduation photos here, because the building structures are beautiful. It is free to come and take pictures, but im not sure if events or concerts here are free..that i recommend looking up.

I like to come on the off days when there isn't a performance, because I can listen to the players practice and there isn't a big crowd. Granted during the performance it's absolutely worth it, just come early to find good parking and seating. Speaking of, parking is always a battle! My tip is to watch for people walking to the lot and just following them The fact that performances are free is an absolute gem, and lovely that it's been in service for longer than a century! I just wish that it was taken better care of with my tax dollars. There are graffiti coverings visible and chips and cracks in the cement and detailing. All in all, a performance is well worth it for the music, the reverberation is absolutely insane (how do the players not go deaf)??

This amazing organ pavilion was constructed in 1915 for the Panama-California Exposition and was later gifted to the people of the city with a caveat that they offer free concerts each week forever and ever. So each Sunday at 2:00, you can pop in, find a seat and enjoy some live music. It's an amazing site-lots of beautiful architecture and history, in addition to the music. There are other events held here-check out the city's website for a schedule of concerts and events. And if you find yourself in Balboa Park on a Sunday afternoon, be sure to pay the organ a visit. You'll be glad you did.

I have been to Balboa Park 25+ times and walked by here half the time. I have never been to a concert or real music event here, but 1 time someone was practicing and I actually got to hear the organ playing and it was pretty amazing. I did got to the Diwali festival here in October 2019, the organ was not in use but this area is great for events like that. I also see many photo shoots going on in and around this area. It is a great location, part of the best park in San Diego, and there is plenty of free parking all around this area and in the park. It is not too far of a walk from the organ pavilion to any of the other main spots in the park. It is very close to the Balboa Park Japanese Friendship Garden which is also another good spot to check out if you are coming to the park.

While walking and going through the museums in Balboa Park we could hear the organ. Spreckels Pavilion is beautiful. The permanent seating area is large as the public gets free performances. Today the organist was practicing. He would stop and start, and play a section of a song over. It was nice having a seat and relaxing after walking for a while.

Our group was surprised as is was 2115, it's been open for about an hour and a half and packed. As you enter this old law office down a staircase one would find the "speakeasy statutes/rules" to maintain the 1920s atmosphere-- we loved the setting, the people, the drinks, and of course the live music!! One would not be disappointed. The cocktail menu was on an old record, which I thought it was so clever. Back to the rules, seems pretty easy! They mention to keep an open mind with the drinks as they do not carry vodkas, redbull, Budweiser or bulls**t. Mentioned a dresscode, more so be classic and states be respectful and don't be a di*k. I couldn't agree more with the rules. I don't think there is good at this establishment, as our group just came from dinner I wasn't looking for food. Just spirits, live music and a good time. Highly recommend if you are looking for live music and uniquely crafted cocktails.

A sponsor had rented out the whole place and all drinks were comped with food being passed around. We had cuban sandwiches and empanadas, which I think were all from the Havana restaurant upstairs. Food was great! Drinks were good, but the menu was so confusing to me. I didn't really like how they categorized them. Sometimes I feel like just being straightforward is better. Too cute with trying to do the prohibition/speakeasy menu. It did take a while to get drinks when it was packed. Understandable. But I had a few that were good, the boats and hoes, and keffir lime tequila drink were great. I would say that the bathroom had a bit of a stink to it...not sure what it was but smelled just like coming up from the pipes. May just be a basement issue. Overall, good experience. It didn't feel super special but just like any other speakeasy. I like False Idol better in terms of overall vibe.

She had complimentary tickets ( usually a $10 cover) to The Shout House, a dueling piano bar. We almost didn't go and let me tell you, that would have been a sad mistake. We walked in and while it was a little loud for us older folks, we looked around and took in all that was happening. There were people there much older than us as well as people barely old enough to be in a bar. The pianist (s) were hard at work a the drummer was rocking out too. We sat down. Let me tell you, that was the most fun we have had in a long time! All three musicians played multiple instruments, piano, harmonica, sax, and drums. The songs were everything from Slim Shady to Elton John and everything in between. Slips of paper were placed on the piano, a nod was given and off they went. The crowd sang along and we all laughed! Some of it was silly but ALL of it was fun! Highly recommend. About 10:30 the older crowd started making their way out, us included, early morning flight but we would have stayed until closing time. We might have paid for it the next day but had we not had a plane to catch we absolutely would have stayed. It was fun to see multiple generations having so much fun together and the music was incredible. We had just eaten so we didn't order food but what we saw on other tables looked good. Go!! I took a Lyft ride here & arrived at 3.45pm. I didn't know what to expect, but I was second in line. Instructions were to be here by 4:15 for The VIP experience which include check in merch, the VIP lanyard, rehearsal & Q&A. There were different VIP plans & some Langers were rectangle & some were hearts. Since I was front row, I was diamond. I was so close that I was actually in the shell. There were two different companies Elite (red shirt) & the Black shirt people. Rady shell had their own staff too in white shirts. So we were organized in groups based on our VIP package. My group got to enter first & we all sat in front row for the Q&A & listen to Ella Mai sing three songs with Juan acoustically. Juan is a great guitar player, At the end I got a guitar pic. Then we took a group picture. So front row became the back row. Now I'm a shorty so I had to stand on a chair to be seen. The coolest part was making new concert friends acquaintances in line & during the Q&A. After that, we all head for the Merch line to have first pick. Let me tell you VIP is the way to go. What I did learn was that the entire venue is a park. So on the exterior of the venue along the water are benches. If you're early enough, you can pick your bench, camp out & watch, listen to the concert , get this FOR FREE. I know, and people were there with their blankets, cushions, drinks, pillows, etc. it's a beautiful venue. It clean. What I will say is that the restrooms are not plentiful. No A/C and it's very hot. There are Porta Potties but that's even hotter. There are unisex restrooms, but those are prison toilets. All stainless steel & messy, stinky, dirty. But if you gotta go, well then you gotta go. The shell located right behind the convention center. Tip, walk in front of the convention center or to the Hilton & save $15 on your Uber. Walk to the signal lights & hop on public trains, rails for $2.50. I met more cool people on the way out that we ended up at party central 10 minutes away. Some chick & her Mom tried to hustle me for a free Uber ride asking me if I would book a trip for them, blah, blah, blah 'my account,I'm having issues', but I shut that down with, Gurl I use public transportation for $2.50 I don't use Uber. Guess their game wasn't that great because they were fighting & arguing a few minutes later. C-ya I'm outta here. I would definitely come back here again. See you some more on Yelp 2026

We spent approximately $2,000, expecting a great experience, but the service was extremely disappointing. After our first set of bottles was delivered, our waitress barely checked on us. We were left without cups, chasers, or anyone attending to our table. About 1.5 hours later, the next set of bottles was finally brought out -- again, with no cups or chasers. We repeatedly had to chase down staff just to get the basic necessities for our table. The situation became so frustrating that my girlfriend and I eventually had to go into the private staff area to address the issue directly. The promoter eventually offered us two bottles of champagne to make up for the inconvenience, but by then there were only about 40 minutes left before closing, making the gesture far too late to meaningfully fix the experience. What made it even more frustrating was the automatic 20% gratuity added to our approximately $2,000 bill, despite the fact that we received very little table service and spent much of the night trying to get staff's attention. We understand that nightclubs get busy, but when you're spending this much money on bottle service, you should not have to repeatedly ask for cups, chasers, or basic service. If you're considering Onyx Room for a special occasion or planning to spend significant money on bottle service, I would strongly recommend looking elsewhere in San Diego. I hope management reviews what happened and considers a meaningful partial refund or discount on what we spent, because two bottles of champagne with 40 minutes remaining did not adequately compensate for the experience.

My wife and I made a reservation for a Friday evening dinner and were seated immediately. It's a beautiful restaurant with tasteful decor and a pleasant warm oak color scheme and gentle lighting. Service was very good and attentive. I noticed there was a wide variety of patrons dining from young families with kids, to retired couples, to young couples. As with every elevated dining experience, my wife and I like to try a large number of dishes especially appetizers and curate these picks with the help of our server. We settled on: charred cabbage, pig Mac Bao, Caesar twinkies, duck meatball, crispy rice, and garlic noodles along with cocktails and a dessert. I thought the majority of the dishes were just okay (3/5) which was disappointing given the price point. The pig Mac Bao in particular which lauded as a crowd favorite at Kettner lacked flavor which was unfortunate given how aesthetic and creative the dish was. The charred cabbage had promising flavor but our cabbage was undercooked and crunchy and the sauce was not evenly distributed leaving some bites lacking flavor. My two favorite dishes were the Caesar Twinkies and the garlic noodles. I would certainly get the garlic noodles again, they were absolutely bursting with flavor. Overall, glad I was able to try this restaurant but I was left disappointed with the food given the price point.
