They told me I could call their # and I would be connected to a doctor - the triage nurse who answered the phone refused to connect me to the on call doctor and I was left in tears and confused while I miscarried at home. My personal experience with the front desk & providers here has been alright - my complaint, as others have already mentioned, is the unbelievable lack of transparency with billing. My doctor gave me NO INDICATION of just how expensive my labs would be, despite it being what she called, 'a simple panel.' Now I have to go to war with them & my insurance so I don't have to pay $700 for testing which ultimately came back completely negative. While I'm not certain I'm going to end up paying the whole amount, I am certain that I would rather not waste my time arguing with insurance when I have so many other things to do. WAS CHARGED $1700 FOR A PAP SMEAR. DO NOT GO HERE UNLESS YOU WANT TO DEAL WITH FRAUDULENT BILLING CHARGES AND COLLECTIONS. I booked an appointment via ZocDoc with Dr. Mindy Valenti at Spring OBGYN in September 2019. I called in advance to inquire about the price for an annual pap without insurance and was told $300 for self-pay which was no problem for me, so I went ahead with the appointment. The front desk staff was unprofessional and unorganized from the moment of my arrival, however my medical examination and experience with Dr. Valenti went fine. After my appointment, I paid in-person at the front desk via credit card. Fast forward a few weeks later, I begin receiving calls letting me know I have a "past-due balance" on my account. I inform them I paid at the time of my appointment and email them a copy of my bank statement showing the transaction. I was told my account would be updated and they apologize for the mistake. A few weeks later I receive a call saying my account is past-due so I have to update someone else in their office all over again for a second time. Fast forward two years later - I received a random call from a collections agency letting me know I have a $1400 bill from Sunrise Labs from my appointment at Spring OBGYN!! I tell the representative that I have never even heard of Sunrise Labs and was never told there were any additional charges due beyond that which I paid at the time of my appointment. He lets me know that I need to resolve this with Spring OBGYN and Sunrise labs if I want to get this account out of collections. I call Spring OBGYN and receive no apology or explanation from their office for how I somehow have a $1444 lab bill in collections from just a REGULAR pap from two years ago. I've had a pap every year of my adult life and have never paid more than a few hundred dollars for the appointment and labs, so clearly whatever labs were ordered are in error and unauthorized as I never was informed of ANY additional charges nor did I ever receive an invoice for labs. I'm now in the process of settling this unauthorized debt with Sunrise Labs - a HUGE headache and inconvenience as a result of the INCOMPETENCY at Spring OBGYN. I will update this review once I've reached a settlement with Sunrise Labs but I would NOT suggest going to this practice unless you want to deal with unanticipated bills for services you never authorized or approved. read more

Maybe I'm a bit luckier than others, but there was a super nice woman at the front desk and I absolutely love dr. Greenwald. I'm picky about most things, and very wary of doctors and insurance, but this is the first time I've found an Obgyn I actually like and will stick with. Dr. Greenwald is thoughtful, informative, empathetic, yet to the point. I'm not about useless chitchat and appreciate she doesn't waste my time. read more

I showed up to the doctor's office early, and waited to see the doctor for an hour. I talked to the doctor for 5 minutes. She asked if I wanted a pep smear and I specifically said no because I had already wasted an hour there. I just wanted to get out of the office. I get a charge for the pep smear that I specifically said no to. They also said I owe them $300 for the annual preventative care. Turns out, they did a pep smear without telling me and miscoded my doctors visit. Was on hold to talk to them, then they disconnected me. The important aspect about a doctor's office is of course the doctor's competency. However, if the office staff is not helpful and gives you inaccurate information, that absolutely decreases the office quality and increases the patient's frustration to the max. Go find an OBGYN that will not only take care of you medically, but ensure that your benefits, charges, everything that goes along with the visit are accurate and taken care of. read more

I had a terrific experience at Spring Obgyn. I saw Dr. Maldonado and Dr. Cho and found them both to be professional, courteous, and responsive. The front desk was always helpful too. Even after I had to switch practices (very unfortunately, due to moving) they were sure to handle all of the logistics. I felt at ease during the first few months of pregnancy due to their care and am grateful for the experience I had. If you have a question or concern after hours there is a dr on call. I'd recommend contacting your insurance company so you know about co-pays and premiums. There were some surprise bills, mostly from Carnegie Imaging where they send patients for detailed ultrasounds. They have a contracted rate with insurance companies and not all services are fully covered. read more

I had a very bad experience at this office today that left me to tears as one of the doctor there spoke to me in a very rude condescending manner. I got from this office a referral and I went to their referral more than a year ago. When I asked the OBGYN today in their office as I made an appointment as I was not feeling well for them to check on the result, she left me for a long time and then she never came back. Then, as a customer I was blamed by someone else for not calling them after my appointment a year ago to check on the result of my referral. The person stated that they had no proof that I went there. I never experience this type of situation before. Needless to say, I am not coming back. read more

I'm writing this review that took place several years ago. The Dr that saw me is still there and at the time I felt too ashamed and embarrassed to say anything but years later I want to express my concern to stay away from here. I have PCOS and burst a very large cyst. The pain was incredible and knocked me off my feet. My friend had to come over and help get me to an ambulance to get to the hospital. I was treated at the hospital and was told to follow up with my regular OBGYN. So I did which was Spring Street OBGYN. At this visit I was told it was probably gas and then the woman Dr took the time to explain what a period was in a very condescending tone as if I had no idea about my body. She really talked down to me. I was in my early 30s at the time. She made me ashamed and embarrassed and I just kind of left. I found another Dr of course and through the years he has seen golf ball size cyst that burst with me. He has been sympathetic to this pain and also offered treatments that have helped tremendously that no one talked to me about at Spring. I am shocked after all these years when I think back to this woman Dr who knows what it is like explaining to me a period and that I could of just had gas as if I didn't experience crippling pain, contractions and not being able to walk. I know other people who have burst cyst and no one has ever shrugged it off like yeah it was no big deal. Most people have said they went to the hospital. I writing this now because I am upset this happend to me. I don't wish to name the Dr because I don't want to do that but this practice doesn't really seem to care. Don't go here. read more

Terrible experience with the office staff. After I *confirmed* my appointment yesterday, they left me a VM message last night saying they would cancel bc I didnt send insurance info in advance. Didn't get VM. Came in for appointment - 20 mins early to do paperwork! - and was told they gave my appointment away and I can't get in for another month!! Docs might be great but I'll never know. I wish I was able to write a nicer review but the combination of the incredibly rude front desk staff, with the un-helpful nature of the doctors makes me really want to mention something. The front desk is not friendly, and indelicate. I had accidentally left an outstanding payment of $20 for 3 weeks, when I went in for a follow up she rudely asked me about the payment and how I would be paying for the payment, almost insinuating I wouldn't be seen if I couldn't pay. I paid on the spot and apologized but I found it very indelicate as some patients may have another reason for not paying. I have seen two doctors here and don't have a PCP in the city. I needed a simple refill for motion sickness meds- I understand this is NOT OBGYN responsibility but I was in a rush to get a refill and didn't have time to find a PCP and schedule a new patient visit. She brushes me off and told me she was unable to refill this for me. I don't get a sense of actual compassion from these doctors and the combination of that and the front desk staff makes me not want to go there. read more

This is the worst medical office I have ever been to. If I could give it 0 stars, I would, and if I were you, I would avoid them at all costs. At first, I thought they were kind, attentive, and understanding, however after my last few appointments, I realized they are terribly disorganized, unresponsive, and extremely rude. 1) My appt. was made with a doctor but I only saw an NP - I have no problem with this, but it is misleading and when I asked, they said the doctor isn't available for "these" types of appointments. For reference, I went in for hormonal imbalance, PCOS, and birth control options. The one time I did see a doctor was for an ultrasound (not the doctor I originally made an appt with) and she was so condescending, rude and unwilling to answer any of my questions. She simply said "maybe/I don't know" or "we'll see when the test results come back". Horrible bedside manners and this ultrasound was for a serious matter. 2) After trying different types of birth control, I was suggested to go on an IUD and after a month of extreme pain, I realized something wasn't right. This was during Covid and I was in between jobs so on a different insurance - I called AND messaged the office several times to ask if they would take my interim insurance as I really wanted to get checked out by the same NP who inserted the IUD (if you've ever gotten an IUD, you know how painful and invasive it is). They assured me they take my insurance and even called me back on their own to say I should make an appt and come see them. I went and they determined the IUD was out of place and had I not gone in on time, I could have had severe problems. After a few weeks, I received a major bill for the removal of the IUD, even though it was their fault, and they said unfortunately, my insurance was not accepted. (even though they were the ones to confirm they did accept it) I know I should've triple checked my insurance, even when they called me back on their own, but if you can imagine being in extreme pain and terrified from bleeding every single day, you can understand why I took their word and went in right away. After a year of fighting, the office not once responded to messages, called me back, even though they promised the manager would, and never showed any sign of caring for their patient. I had to chase them down and wasted so much of my time. After talking to many other doctors on my own, they confirmed that the IUD insertion was indeed their mistake and they should, at the very least, work with me to lower the bill. The only person I ever spoke to was an accounting person out of state who claimed she could not get involved in office matters, although she did try to help as much as she could. The office should have spoken to me about this and they should have lowered the bill. For a predominately female office who claims they care about women and their health, they didn't give a crap about me, a 2-3 year, long-term patient. I'll preface by saying that my first pregnancy and delivery in July 2017 went fine with Spring Ob/Gyn at NYU Langone. This review is for my second delivery, in October 2019. It has taken me almost a year to write this as I'm still recovering emotionally from what happened. You'll find that the doctors and staff are all generally friendly, which makes for a good day to day experience. However, if you are NOT interested in a high intervention practice, please reconsider. I believe their rate of C-sections is higher than what they are sharing. After all, they are a business and NYU is a private hospital ($$$). C-sections are a major surgery so just be aware that doctors (in general, not just at Spring) will push that on patients. Parents (especially first timers) are most vulnerable and will agree to almost anything medical professions tell them. If I could do it all over again, I would look into a midwife practice and hire a doula who can advocate for me in the hospital. I rotated through all of the doctors at Spring during my visits but ended up with my primary OB, Dr. Victoria Onbreyt, for both of my pregnancies/deliveries. Two issues with my 2nd delivery: 1) During my c-section, Dr. Onbreyt punctured my bladder, a major organ. This was discovered when I was sewed back up after the c-section as my urine through the catheter was still blood red. A team of NYU urologists had to come into the operating room to determine the issue and when the entire team (including Dr. Onbreyt) couldn't figure it out using a camera going into my bladder, I had to be opened back up. This was when they discovered that my bladder was punctured, sewed to my uterus and I had to get reconstructive surgery. I had to be in the operating room for more than SEVEN hours, and couldn't hold or nurse my newborn baby. I also had to spend the first two weeks postpartum wearing a catheter at home and endured many months of pain and emotional trauma. 2) About 20 minutes into my recovery after a traumatic surgery, two doctors (one was a resident) came into my room to tell me that I have tested positive for Syphilis, an STD, and that I would need to get treated. After I was able to fend them off, two more doctors came in to tell me the same exact thing... as if some STD alarm went off in my charts and everyone had to come running into my room to tell me. When I asked how I would have possibly gotten Syphilis from having only my husband as my sex partner, they insinuated that he may not be telling me the truth and that my 'privacy is protected' blah blah. Dr. Onbreyt comes in during this second conversation and interrupts the two NYU doctors, telling them that the test results were a FALSE POSITIVE and that I need to be left alone. The following day, an infectious diseases doctor comes into my room - trying to tell me the same thing. At this point, she's the FIFTH doctor, trying to push treatment for a disease that I do not have. This resulted in me having to find a 2nd opinion infectious diseases doctor (who confirmed I do not have Syphilis), many months of therapy to work through the trauma, trust issues with my husband and a birth experienced that was absolutely ruined. This was not entirely Dr. Onbreyt's fault but it was her lack of communication with the hospital team that ruined my birth experience. This could have easily have been avoided. So, rather than joyously celebrating the arrival of our daughter, my husband I were forced to talk about our fidelity. The reason for this review is that I hope to share some advice: 1) educate yourself on the medical system (remember that it is a business and everyone including Spring OB/Gyn and NYU) is out to make money), 2) be sure to advocate for yourself (and for your partner) and ask questions/push back 3) know that you're not alone, unfortunately. I've heard way too many similar stories from moms, parents and it's awful that we let our most precious moment of giving birth get dictated by an intrusive medical industry. read more

I really cannot recommend this practice. I had endometriosis and they told me repeatedly nothing was wrong with me and just to take birth control - it was not until I pushed for a referral and I went to NYU and saw a specialist that I learned my diagnosis and had to have surgery. my doc recommended spring street again when I got pregnant so I tried it again and my doctor there was nice but the experience otherwise - dealing with the front desk and appointments (which doesn't seem like a big deal until pregnancy when you have multiple appointments a month) and their very convoluted billing system was more stress than it was worth. I switched to Cornell Weill's lower Manhattan practice and it has been a dramatically different experience - very easy! I would definitely do some more research before committing here. read more

Look, I'm not getting into specifics here, because, well, I'm far too modest. But...now that I've moved and I'm looking for a new lady doc, I feel it's only fair that I review my last one so that other gal yelpers who have moved to NYC can be in the know, too. Spring OB/GYN is almost "as good as it gets." The *only* thing preventing them from being so is that you do have to wait a hell of a time before you can get an appointment for an annual. As in, book that sucker 3 months in advance and you're fine. That said, it seems that this is the case in most offices these days. This needs to change! Some of us are impulse appointment makers! The important thing is that you feel comfortable from start to finish during one of these annoying, but necessary, check-ups are rarely what you can call "fun" but they can be pleasant enough if you have a good doctor. I highly recommend Dr. Maldinaldo, who I had visited for about 6 or so years, without admonishment that I might have skipped an annual visit once or twice (oops!). She respects what I called these days "alternative lifestyles" (as in, when you're of child bearing age and you assure her that you don't want children, you're not not looked at with disbelief, nor are you treated differently in any way). She is utterly respectful, considerate, nice and...*quick*! Of course you want quick and then, when you get *quick,* you wonder why you let two years go before scheduling another visit. Sigh. Warning... Let me state this, IF YOU ARE PREGANT this doctors office will stress you out. They are completely disorganized , rude and have NO empathy, lack English speaking staff!!!!. They stressed me out my entire 1st trimester. Dr . Linda Cho scheduled a genetic test for me never pre authorized the procedure - or notified me of the possible cost associated or that its an addtl service --- As a 1st time mom I was under the impression this is routine - NO!. GET THISSS ..... I get STUCK with a $2500 from Lab Corp (Mind you I have good HC United Health care to be exact) when attempting to rectify the denied claim from my health insurance - I call the provider aka Spring OBGYN to get a Medical necessity letter which is what is needed to appeal...after my UHC called several times also about the denied claim, unsuccessful - I GET snobby front desk workers, numerous on hold and hang ups, no email responses FOR MONTHS! It got so serious I was UNABLE to take anymore labwork aka diabetic testing / urinalasis / etcc... from LABCORPS UNTIL I PAID THE $2500 bill. ALL SPRING OBGYN needed to provide me with is a "medical necessity letter" AKA a Doctors Note that I could use to get my insurance to potentially cover the claim. But numerus attempts to get them to assist me - Silence and phone hang ups. DO NOT GO HERE. They are only about money. They will not help or service you correctly and professionally. The doctors are OK.. but the front desk staff is TRASH. They are lazy and rude. Stay away from this medical office. SPRING OB/GYN is a factory. The office staff is unbelievably rude and unhelpful. These offices care more about profiting from insurance companies than the health and well-being of their patients. In October 2020, I had booked my first visit with SPRING OB/GYN due to an emergency yeast infection. My regular doctor was not available that day, and the appointment was urgent. When I arrived at the offices, I was assigned to a different doctor than the one noted on ZocDoc--Dr. Onbreyt. This doctor suggested that I do my annual exam, since I had not returned to my usual doctor due to the pandemic. I did a full exam and when the doctor asked me if I noticed spotting in between my periods, I said I may have but I was unsure. She immediately insisted I do an ultrasound, and that it would take place in another room. I waited in a packed and stuffy waiting room with several other masked patients (this was before vaccines were readily available to the public) for over 45 minutes until my name was called. The doctor did not mention to me that a technician would do the procedure, nor did she mention that the ultrasound would be transvaginal. The whole experience was unpleasant, and I was eager to leave the offices as soon as I could. A month later I receive a high priced bill for this ultrasound (the results which showed that nothing was wrong). Another doctor might have suggested I track my periods before doing this kind of procedure. My insurance company paid these offices A LOT for this procedure to be done. It was clearly unnecessary and it put my health and well-being at risk by having to wait in an office on the same day that new restrictions in NYC went into effect due to rising hot spots. The optics are very clear. SPRING OB/GYN maximizes profits by encouraging patiences to do unnecessary high-priced procedures and diagnostic tests. I had tried to settle the matter with the offices directly, and every time I called, the staff was hostile and rude. Do yourself a favor and visit a smaller, private practice, where you don't feel like you're being herded like cattle and treated like a cash cow. read more

I love the practitioners I've had there so far, so it pains me to write this, but a business starts with a front desk and this one is trash. The main receptionist is cold, unfriendly and downright rude, and worse, she has no clue what she's doing. I asked for a printout that my practitioner requested, she goes and prints out the wrong one. Then the person at the front desk laughs at her and says I'll go get you the right one, like what?! Then I have an appointment and I get a call saying I have to reschedule as I have a pending COVID test result (get tested weekly for school). She suggests I make a new appointment, great, then looks at my account and says I have a 50 dollar balance, "pay it," and then hangs up on me. Hangs UP on me. And clearly, this is a recurring theme among reviews. Sucks to suck. read more

The absolute WORST! I thought I was done with them in July when they hit me for additional charges for a procedure the doctor was unable to execute. I reluctantly paid feeling backed into a corner and honestly wanted to just be done with them and the non-stop text and phone calls asking me to book an appointment with them again which I had called twice about asking them to remove me from whatever list that was. It was not done so until my third call. Now here I am sitting on hold with Sunrise Medical Laboratories for new changes which have magically appeared three months after last seeing them and already having paid the amount. The best part is the document mailed states "final notice" when I clearly paid this already. COVID and everything is enough going on in the world to have a crooked Doctor's office attempting to soak up any funds they can get from patients. NYC is full of scam artists and this group of doctors are more that you can add to that group. Bravo Spring OBGYN. It took me eight months to write this review, since I wasn't sure what happened to me was worth mentioning. I've since decided not only is it worth mentioning, but I also hope to save other women the difficulties I faced being treated by this practice. In March , I had a yearly check-up with Ms. Valenti. I was a new patient and expressed issues I was having on my then current birth control, including an unusual side effect I couldn't figure out. She suggested I try out a new birth control, and prescribed Lo Loestrin. I found this odd, seeing as I have PCOS-- a syndrome which generally stems from increased male hormone. Why would a lower estrogen pill help me combat my symptoms? Regardless, I took her at her word as a professional and tried it out. The side effects were immediate -- weight gain, awful awful acne, and serious other physical symptoms including anxiety. I've been on birth control for 11 years and know the side effects of new ones well -- this wasn't that. When I reached out to Ms. Valenti about this, she not only ignored me, she gaslit me. She told me all birth controls were trial and error, and if I had a problem with it I could talk to my primary care doctor. I paid 40 dollars to have her tell me to figure it out myself. I reached out to the front desk assistants to see if I could speak to another nurse practitioner or doctor. They admitted to me it was unlikely the other members of the team would disagree, they worked as a "team." I insisted I speak to someone else and receive proper medical care for this issue, which was growing worse by the day. I had cystic acne I've never had, was so nauseous I couldn't stomach food, and most disconcertingly experiencing heart palpitations. The assistants said if I did, I would have to pay a 40 dollar copay again. So I gave her the benefit of the doubt. I sucked it up for four months, and eventually things got so bad I caved. During the uncertainty of the pandemic, my hormones got worse and worse, and I felt crazy. Finally, I had a virtual appointment with a dermatologist, who was shocked to hear what birth control I'd been on. She has since sent me to her own OB/GYN, who has put me on the correct birth control. I have no acne, have lost weight, and feel much better. I say this not because I believe this practice will do anything differently-- I didn't even mention the unnecessary procedure they also wanted me to do my new OB/GYN confirmed I did not need. I do this so that any woman reading this knows she deserves better. Especially in this climate, it is disheartening to see female medical professionals who don't care about helping their female clients. There are doctors who do. My new OB/GYN trouble shot my symptoms with me, helped me find a team of specialists to deal with it, and most importantly, did not pump my body with hormones because she was too indifferent to think it through. read more

I genuinely can't understand these negative reviews - this is the best gyno I have ever been to! I had many questions about my insurance ahead of my appointment, and each time I called the front desk answered immediately and was so kind & helpful. At my appointment, everything moved very efficiently with no wait at all. The nurses + doctors went above and beyond to be kind, patient and reassuring. But the best part was Dr. Reisner. She did not make me feel rushed at all, patiently listened to my questions, and made me feel so assured during the entire appointment. I'd been to this office once before for an annual which I remembered going well, so when I became pregnant I figured I'd give them a call and see if I could continue with the practice for my pregnancy. First question I was asked by the receptionist after telling her I'd like to make an appointment because I am pregnant was verbatim "is this happy news or bad news?" - ummm... excuse me? I find this incredibly offensive and inappropriate to be casually asked over the phone by someone who is not a doctor. You don't know what someone is going through, and luckily I am thrilled to be pregnant, but what if that question was asked to someone going through very different circumstances? I said to the woman "excuse me, but how is that an appropriate question?" and she became defensive and claimed that the answer was "necessary" to get me an appointment. Since when is it the receptionist's business wether I'd like an abortion or not?! And since when is my decision to keep or terminate my pregnancy at all valid in this receptionist's decision to grant me an appointment or not?! Needless to say, I will never be returning to Spring OBGYN, and I'd highly recommend seeking medical help elsewhere for anything concerning pregnancy unless you'd like to be embarrassed and have your HIPAA rights violated by their ignorant staff. read more

Not super buttoned up and ended up wasting so much time circling around to figure out why I am being charged for the annual check up that was supposed to be covered 100%. I went in extremely scared with problems that I later figured out on my own were a result of my underactive thyroid. Instead of working with me to find a solution they ushered me in and out. WORST part is the experience with the staff. They're unfortunately quite awful at following through with pharmacy requests. And pretty unfriendly. The best part of going here is the convenience of getting an appointment. Don't make it your primary doctor or you'll surely be disappointed. I had a wonderful experience with Dr. Jenny Reisner at Spring Ob/Gyn. I am an older woman (62) and am treated as unimportant at other Gyn's. A lot of changes occur as a woman ages, and Dr. Reisner answered all my questions and gave me new things to think about. She is very kind and enjoys getting to know her patients. Krista(?) the young woman who prepped me was also a delight. The women at the front desk were very efficient, but I made sure to fill out my paperwork on-line before hand, so there wasn't much for me to do when I arrived. Writing a review as I had such a good experience here. I just had a pap smear today. Once I stepped through the door of the office one of the receptionists warmly greeted me, took my details and asked me to take a seat. Not 2 minutes later a lovely nurse came out to escort me back to the room where I would have my test. She was informative and friendly. As soon as Dr. Wade walked into the room with a big smile on her face I instantly relaxed. Dr. Wade's bedside manner is fabulous. She answered any questions I had thoroughly. I didn't feel rushed at any point. She let me know what was happening at every stage. She was efficient but caring and attentive. The pap smear itself lasted maybe 10-15 seconds. I cannot recommended Dr. Wade and Spring Ob/Gyn enough. Every step of the process was great. read more

If you have a real medical problem, this is not the right practice to go to. Additionally, if you do not have in-network insurance with this practice, they will not provide proper medical care for you even if you are willing to go out of pocket to pay for the care. I went to see a recommended doctor here for GYN care - I had learned I had symptomatic fibroids and needed to find out what to do. The main issue that happened for me with the practice was that as a next step after my visit the doctor referred me to have an MRI at NYU Langone and the day before my MRI the Spring OB GYN office refused to do the necessary paperwork to explain what was needed for the MRI and authorize the MRI for insurance, so I couldn't even do the next step the doctor told me to because her office wouldn't do what was necessary to make it happen! I spoke with NYU, my insurance, and Spring OB GYN multiple times to try to figure it out but there was no way to move forward with the MRI because 1) NYU would not perform the MRI without having the case notes from the doctor, which the office refused to provide simply because I didn't have in-network insurance with them (though I am in network with NYU!) and 2) even with that if I could get the doctor to provide the case notes I would have to go 100% out of pocket for the MRI- hundreds of dollars - because the Spring OB/GYN office would not do the insurance authorization paperwork, and neither I nor NYU could do it either. My doctor was on vacation when this happened and I had to cancel the MRI (which had taken more than a week to schedule). She called me back when she returned and suggested that I go to another doctor outside of their practice to get the insurance authorization - which defeats the whole purpose of going to Spring OB GYN in the first place - just to go to a second doctor to get proper medical care? Not to mention it was this doctor that would need to explain the reasons for having the MRI so that NYU would know what the heck they were doing. At this point I told the doctor I needed to go somewhere where I could get proper medical care. It was a total waste of time and money. I ended up at Mt Sinai with Dr Amy Huang - which was a wonderful place with amazing doctors, surgeons, and hospital and really was the right place for me to be. I had surgery with Dr Huang a month later and I'm extremely grateful I ended up there as, based on previous experience, it was a better place to have surgery than NYU anyway, where Spring would probably have referred me. My other issues with Spring OB GYN were: - the front desk was incredibly rude to me both in person when I came for my appointment and on the phone when I was trying to figure out the authorization. They hung up on me at one point when I told them to leave a message for the doctor that I had to cancel the MRI and could they please leave a message for the doctor to call me to figure out what to do - they just didn't have time for me :( - the place feels like a meat factory. When you are there you feel like you are just a cog in the money machine. - I waited 45 minutes to see the doctor at my appointment - The comparison between the in-person medical care I received at Spring and Mt Sinai is incomparable. The doctors and staff at Mt Sinai were on the ball and clearly extremely knowledgeable, best-in-class medical professionals. When you are having a medical problem, you really want to go somewhere where you not only are working with the best doctors, but also where you feel like people care just a little bit about you and your health. I didn't get that at all at Spring. Honestly, f*ck that place. read more

I went for a standard yearly check in. They gave me an unnecessary ultrasound and then billed me for it. When I called to ask why I was billed for something that I would have denied if i was told it would incur an additional charge they told me that it was my responsibility to know what my insurance covers. I don't know anyone that memorized exactly what their insurance covers. read more

Had a very upsetting experience at this office that I still think about months later. I had my cervix dilated (extremely painful) for an IUD insertion, during which the doctor discovered that she needed another instrument that was not prepped and ready in the room. This meant that the nurse had to go to the other end of the office to retrieve it, while I was clamped to the table still dilated, hyperventilating in pain. At a bare minimum a doctor should have all the necessary tools ready (she was already over an hour late to the appointment), especially when the procedure is painful and scary. After the nurse came back I said I couldn't take the pain and to please remove all the tools from my body, to which the doctor asked if I was sure. I said yes. She asked again. I then opted to continue, but I wish I hadn't. My wishes should have been respected. I still think about it. read more

I came here for an IUD and it has been hell ever since. They are trying to charge me/my insurance for extra procedures to get the most money out of me possible. The billing department even admitted fault to coding the procedure wrong but refused to change it. This office will preform extra, unnecessary procedures and not inform you that they will cost you out of pocket money. IUD's are suppose to be FREE to the patient by law but they are charging me upwards of 600 dollars for my procedure. Needless to say, I will not be returning to this office. read more

I was able to get an appointment here the same day I called to schedule, which was great because I wanted care asap. I didn't have any issues with the front desk staff like many other reviewers do. I felt a little rushed and my time with the doctor felt a little impersonal. But, from my experience and friends', that is typical of an NYC obgyn. I went in with concerns about a uti and the doctor pretty much just said don't ever have sex. Maybe just a conservative woman. I didn't think this was a big deal, but because of my history regarding obgyn issues, my mother, friends, etc all expected that after telling the doctor my history there would be a vaginal examination. I'm young so I don't know what's typical of a uti appointment, but friends/family thought it was quite strange I was only in there for 10 minutes. I was between spring obgyn and citymd. I should have gone with citymd. Probably would have had a shorter wait time and more appropriate medical care. read more

Horrific front desk staff. Entirely rude. Hang up on patients frequently. Good doctors but not worth it because of the staff.

In a nutshell, terrible customer service from the front desk and the doctors are not much better. I've never been belittled by any doctor until here. Lastly, it's very alarming that they're very quick to prescribe birth control. read more
