I told them that they were given to me by my late mom and I am from out of town and I had to get them fixed. Mine isn't a fake review, and I can provide photos, so before you visit, please read my review. I don't know, maybe my expectations were too high, or maybe my request was just too hard? I tried to give them the benefit of the doubt, but after wearing the results, I'm afraid I have to give this two stars. I have a pair of shoes that I've worn for two to three years straight, every single day. I love it, and bought it in Japan. Not very expensive, only around $40. Recently, it's been flaking more and more, as it's waterproof and I will sometimes walk over snow and rain. I wanted to wear it for a lot longer, so I looked for places for shoe repair. Maybe this is on me, but I just went with the first place that had a good review and was relatively close. The guy was nice about it as I explained, and at first he said it was impossible. I just wanted to replace the leather, and I said that if he could do it, even if it was expensive, I would pay. That was probably a mistake, but I've never gotten anything repaired before, so please excuse my ignorance. He was like, okay, what if we put real leather and change out the sides, so at least the cracked part will no longer be cracked? And we resole it and make it look like new? I explained that I didn't care what he did, as long as he kept the inside and that when I slipped on the shoe, it would be as comfortable as the first day I bought it. And so we finalized and I paid, and left to await the news to pick it up, which he said would be a week later. Let me preface this to say, I did not request a resoling, he was the one to bring it up. I only wanted to cracks replaced, and I thought, oh, if he's changing out the sides, then maybe he needs to resole? When I got back to my car, my dad asked me how it was. I told him I paid upfront, and it was $200. He told me it wasn't worth it, and that I could've bought four new shoes with that money. It was actually closer to $226, I guess with tax? But he didn't say that when I was paying, and I didn't pay attention to the price when paying, so I assumed it was a flat $200. Also, I paid upfront, but my dad told me that I shouldn't have, as he had the shoes, and I couldn't guarantee he would do a good job. In retrospect, that maybe should have clued me in to the product I was getting. But I also can't be sure that maybe that's how things are done in the shoe repair industry now? But I was pretty nervous and didn't think of these things. My dad also said that if I wanted to keep the comfort of the shoes, the guy wouldn't have said to resole it for me. As the soles were part of the comfort of the shoe, and the insides were not the only thing that was important. I tried to call him after I got home to tell him not to resole, but he told me that he had already started fixing the shoe. Okay, it was too late, but I figured, since he knows about shoes, maybe the sole wasn't as important to the comfort as my dad had said? And here's where we get to the crux of the matter. When I got the shoes, it looked... well, not that great. I was expecting better integration of the leather, and not this slapdash stitching. Maybe that's just my unrealistic expectations or that I'm an artist, fine. But the most important part, the comfort and pillowy feeling of the shoe when I put it on... it's gone. Now it's like stepping into tap dancing shoes, or those really cheap shoes you get at fast fashion stores. The sole feels flat, thin and cheap. I didn't ask for the resoling. I only asked for the cracks to be fixed. If he was only going to stick the leather on top of the shoe and stitch it, like it totally looks in the picture, why did he need to resole it? I can't guarantee that's what he did exactly, but it looks like that, and it kind of feels like that too. I guess he polished it too, but it's not noticeable because he didn't fix the other small cracks. As a shoe repairman, shouldn't you know that when a person wants to keep the comfort level of the shoe, that a sole replacement would change that? But no, he told me that the comfort level would stay the same. That's a lie. My dad told me straight off that the sole would change the feel of the shoe, and he's a layperson. I didn't know that, and now I'm paying for shoes that don't look that great, and the soles are making my feet hurt. Every time I wear these shoes now, I'm depressed, and I utterly regret getting these shoes repaired. This actually made me cry. These were my favourite pair of shoes, and I was hoping I could continue wearing them for two more years. Now that the comfort is gone, I don't know what was the point. I don't even feel like wearing them as it feels like I am stepping on flat floor instead of wearing shoes. I had such high hopes, but now I'm never getting any shoes repaired ever again.

I have specialty orthotics and struggled wearing the wrong shoes with them which meant they added little comfort and I had no clue why. I usually take hours shopping for shoes and can't find something satisfactory. Bev, working there, asked me if I needed help and I gave her the rundown with the expectation that she wouldn't be much assistance as has been the case in every other store. Instead, she blew me away by finding the perfect pair of shoes I needed. The second I tried them on my jaw dropped due to the comfort. She explained to me exactly why my current shoes didn't help (they weren't built for orthotics at all!) I was out of there in 20 minutes. Anyway I'm very happy. Unfortunately my daughter had a very poor experience with the recommended shoe and fit, and while I understand that it's outside the return/replacement policy, the arrogance in response from the store is astounding. They don't care to make the situation right when they were clearly wrong in their recommendation and not only contributed to a horrible experience by a first time pointe shoe user, but also jeopardized her foot health in the process. Of course, they don't see it that way and say that they would never have said this or that. They hide behind "come in and let us have a look and see if we can recommend anything to improve the situation...if not, we may offer a discount on another shoe if this one can't be worn". As I said to the store owner, if I need to buy another pair of pointe shoes, I will be doing it at another establishment, not their store. I'm saddened that my daughter's experience was marred by their lack of knowledge and an incorrect recommendation and improper fit.

This occurred in your newly expanded Upper Canada Mall location. In short, I presented a gift receipt in order to exchange mocassins that were too big for me. Instead of performing an exchange or issuing a gift card as she indicated was the process required, the cashier accidentally refunded the amount to the original credit card - my sister-in-laws Visa card. "Ooops, I hit the wrong button. Nothing I can do" was her response. No offer to call a supervisor, no offer to void the transaction, absolutely no offer to help. Her priority was to get me out of the way so she could ring through the next customer. I insisted on speaking with a supervisor. After a while of me watching multiple other transactions go through, a supervisor did eventually come over only to quickly state there was nothing she could do. I could comment further on her continued rudeness and lack of professionalism, but I have since learned it was her last day and that should explain enough. The cashier was advised by XXXX, the other supervisor, to remove herself from the discussion because of how unprofessional she was acting. The two supervisors suggested I call the Customer Service Department on my cell phone because they said that "nothing could be done" to reverse the erroneous transaction on their end. They insisted that they had no authority at the store level to void transactions or cancel a credit card transaction. I've been a retail store manager for 10 years and I find this impossible to believe. I made the call and after explaining my experience to the CS Rep, I was placed on hold for 20 minutes. The only conclusion I can derive from this deliberate delay is they hoped that I would give up and end the call. Eventually Chris, the supervisor, came on the line and attempted to deal with the issue by offering a $25 Gift Card and 25% off. I explained to Chris that I came in with shoes that were given to me as a gift from my sister-in-law and the only acceptable resolution was to leave with shoes. He said that wouldn't be possible. This is unacceptable and I decided to speak with the other supervisor in the store. XXXX was very professional and was the only one to express a sincere apology and show understanding. She even called the store manger at home to ask if she could simply give us the shoes back and cancel the erroneous transaction. She was told she could in fact reverse or "stop" the refund to the Visa, and for a quick moment I was so relieved. HOWEVER, she also said that despite the refund being terminated, the product, my Christmas gift, would not be returned to me because that would throw off the store inventory, and somehow the company did not have the ability to reconcile that. This was forbidden. Inventory accuracy is obviously more important than customer satisfaction. Wow, what a great solution! Soft Moc can keep my sister-in-laws money and keep the shoes to sell again! At this point I knew that nobody involved to this point had customer service as a priority and so I asked Jasmine for the District Managers name. She gave us Clarissa's name upon my request, but the phone number provided was to the Customer Service Department. Upon calling the number this morning I quickly realized that it was the same customer service line that kept me on hold yesterday for 20 mins and that I could not reach the DM, Clarissa, though this method. I asked for contact information such as emails or phone numbers for anyone in upper management, specifically Operations, to no avail. I was told that "we are a small company" and they didn't have access to direct phone numbers or emails, or even the names of people in upper management. In short, when I review my customer experience with Soft Moc I am still utterly baffled. I went into the store yesterday with a simple request to exchange product that didn't fit my feet. I had everything that I needed as per Soft Moc exchange policy. With a gift receipt in hand and the right product for my needs I approached what I thought would be a straightforward and simple interaction. Somehow, over an hour later and after a myriad of employee errors and operations failures I left empty handed. Actually, I had one thing to look forward to, an awkward and incredibly embarrassing conversation with my sister-in-law to attempt to explain how her generous Christmas gift was thrown in her face. I should mention now that I have an email in my inbox from my sister-in-law asking why it was refunded.
