Spring Valley Inn is a fun and friendly place to get a drink and unwind.
    Sarah L.

This bar made me feel at home! The staff / bartender was very inviting, and so were the other patrons. Due to the Covid "scamdemic", only outside seating was available with the purchase of food. That wasn't a problem for me. Spring Valley Inn Cocktail Bar offered covered seating, misters, and fans. The drinks were priced decent, pretty cheap compared to most other San Diego drinking holes, and there was plenty of parking available. Nobody batted an eye when I decided to dance, and other patrons joined in. The crowd was diverse, and fun to hang out with. I wasn't "scared" even though people say dive bars can be sketchy - I have the most fun. Would I go back again? Absolutely, it felt like the Spring Valley version if Cheers! REASONS TO VISIT: 1. Great prices 2. Friendly staff 3. Plenty of parking 4. Pool table and darts (available when not stuck with Commifornia pandemic rules)

    Karyn and her chill-do :)

Today I met up with Karyn here. I love dive bars where: -the Happy Hour is 2 for $5 Wells and $5 domestic pitchers w/ chill-dos (ice dildos)? -it smells like urine as soon as you walk in (adds to the authenticity ) -clean restrooms -magic mic karaoke on Fridays -a super friendly dog in the bar -they also carry Hot Spot lotto tix! Go figure *shrugs* -really nice bikers Thanks for recommending it, Sarah! *muah*

Typical east county dive bar. I've heard mention of this being a biker bar but I have yet to see that clientele. Cheap drinks, stiff pours, friendly bartender. I will add this place to my list for those nights I don't feel like straying too far from home for a bevvie or two.

    Bloody Mary

I came here Sunday morning with a couple of friends for bloody mary's based on a recommendation from another friends. This is a dive bar. Reminded me of Cheers ~ everyone knew everyone's name and they were very friendly & welcoming. One of the patrons let us know they were doing ~ buy one drink get the second for $1 as we walked to a table. WHAT?!? That's awesome!!! I should have asked if that was everyday or just Sunday. My bad. They make/sell breakfast on Sunday for $5 from 10am until they run out or everyone has eaten. Today was biscuits & gravy, potatoes, eggs and a grilled pork chop with apples ~ mmmmmm!! The biscuits were made from scratch, everything was delicious. The bloody mary was beautiful and was good. Our tab was $17 for 5 bloody mary's ~ we got the second round in before 11. Did I mention how friendly everyone was??? This is now my go to spot when I want to stay close to home ~ close enough I could walk if I needed to.

    Amazing Bloody Mary

This place is a great example of your local dive bar. Super friendly bartender Lisa made some incredible drinks that were reasonably priced and tasted and looked amazing. Thanks so much. We will be back.

After a quick look around, I took a seat at the bar. The bartender had her back to me; I could see her texting, then switching to Instagram. A woman in a Christmas sweater greeted me before the bartender did and had to remind her--twice--that I was there before she finally put her phone down and acknowledged me. Bartender: Hello, thanks for waiting. How are you? Me: Thirsty. Bartender: What can I get you? Me: Bourbon and water, please. Bartender: What kind of bourbon? Me: The well is fine, thanks. Bartender: Jack is-- inaudible Bartender: Do you want a double? It's only $3.50 more. Me: No thanks. Bartender: You know, be nice. The bartender walks away to make the drink and immediately complains about me to her friends sitting directly across the bar. One of them rolls his eyes at me. Me: Hey, I was nice enough to wait while you were on your phone. Bartender: No, you weren't. I slide my drink back to her. Me: You can just give my drink to your friends across the bar. Bartender: I will. I walk out. The eye-roller stares at me as I leave. Acknowledge guests, stay professional, and don't complain about customers to friends sitting right in front of them. Promote the girl in the Christmas sweater. And if Eye Ball wants to talk about it sometime, we can meet elsewhere for a drink. My treat.

I had to go and reminisce and drag my friend Laura and her boyfriend! Laura and I attended SDSU at the same time, but she had never gone. How did that happen? LOL! The band, Retro X, was already playing when I got there. Laura was able to snag a table in spite of the crowd. Small dance floor...more like a lane...LOL! The interior is not really big, and there were a lot of people of various ages, but definitely older, all who probably have grown up in the 80s. Bartenders were friendly, pours were really good! My only complaint was that it was too bright. Perhaps they didn't want people to fall and break a hip...LOL! It was fun hearing the band's playlist and at one point, singing along...LOL! Hell, that doesn't even exist but it should... consider me the president. I'm typically a Friday/Saturday night guy for Wong's but I had recently stepped in on a Saturday morning, something I've been wanting to do for a long time. Why? Well, it's chicken fried steak day! Seriously, so damn good and it's a portion that has your heart begging for half a helpin'. The price is right and if you're not looking for something so heavy you can go for the pork chop or the omelette. If you order either of those, you're a psychopath and I don't want to know you, but with my luck I'd probably end up dating you. The crazies all find me, and they find me at Wong's.
