I've been visiting the library since I was a kid.  I love how libraries offer so much more than just books these days!  From movies and games to even 3D printing, there's always something new to discover. It's amazing that so many resources are available for free. I encourage everyone to explore their local library--you never know what treasures you might find.

I'm gonna be honest... I don't think I'll ever come back here. It's scary. First off, as I was entering, there were lots of homeless people out in front. I feel sad for them, but at the same time, I felt unsafe. It's okay inside. There were people there, studying and minding their own business. I wanted to see if I could have a study room to myself. I asked a worker for help, and she was really nice actually. She explained to me how they have "Quiet Rooms," and that anyone can come in, but it's meant to be more quiet. She explained how, in the Quiet Rooms, they don't have ceilings.. She also said that I can't close the door. Someone must have done something really bad in these Quiet Rooms for them not to allow you to close the door. Also, since the Quiet Rooms don't have ceilings, it's actually louder. Go figure. It amplified every other noise from outside of the room. I had my headphones on to block the noise, Thank God. I studied for a little bit and just left... Boy, was it scary leaving this place.. Again, there were still homeless people outside when I left... There were hardly any lights-- seriously. I felt so unsafe. You know, you never know if you're gonna get mugged or not. It was dark and scary in the evening time.. I was so relieved to leave.

I'm a huge cheerleader for the public library system. Neighborhood libraries don't just provide books and other media for checkout, they provide essential community services. This one in particular has a food pantry type program on site, with free lunch for children, daily. They also have a full calendar of various clubs, groups, and meetings held to support the surrounding area with language learning, job skills, internet access, and socialization opportunities. It's a gold mine. And their actual checkout selection ain't bad either. I like that I can look up what's available online and place holds for easy grab-and-go pick up. Navigating this location is a bit tricky, as they do have some signage but the layout is a little odd. Their graphic novels section in particular is well stocked, and they have several computer pods for walk-in reservation.

Don't let appearances fool you. Yes, this library is a little rough on the outside and isn't in the best part of town. However, once inside, you forget about all that. Let me start by saying it's a pretty big library. I had to walk through 2 different areas to get to the kids play area in the back. The play area is pretty big. There's 2 play kitchens, a shelf full of toys and of course lots of books. There's also a wall dedicated to legos, magnets and felt. The day we visited, they were having story time for the little ones, which included singing, dancing and bubbles. The library itself is very organized. They have employees that are very helpful in answering any questions. And the patrons who were there the day we visited were friendly as well. I'm sure I'll be visiting this library again soon.

Wednesdays are the busiest it seems, because the parking lot is always full just before 5pm. This location is the only library I've been able to visit. They have a sensor security entrance and security guards walking the floors. It's a public place so this need perhaps is necessary; and times have changed (a separate discussion topic). Awesome things about this library are the sections are clearly marked i.e. adult, children, copy center... They have a bookstore and customer service cashier. Your borrowed books are held for a week for you to check out. There is a resource room with free reference materials. Throughout the library, they provide free mini care kits (tissue, hygiene, and such.) Clark County offers free adult and children's programs at multiple library locations. One important program offered FREE to the community is their CALL program - English classes provided to the adult community without a cost to the resident. These English classes are held from beginner level to advanced. There is a pre and post test, then certification. There are even conversational classes held on Fridays for those that need English speaking practice. The kids' program is new and beneficial - a way to cater overall to a family's development with learning English. Great community outreach!

Spring Valley Library may not be the newest library in town but they do offer the best services and continually sponsors community events. I also enjoy working at the library with its available FREE and fast wi-fi plus tables with charging stations making it an ideal stop for telecommuters or patrons needing to top-off their devices. Also don't forget to avail the library's affordable bookstore where you have a very good chance of finding that one book at a price steal. This being one of Las Vegas Clark County's library, it of course offers a network to a vast collection of graphic novels, reference materials, magazine, plus the streaming services for movies and music--all you need to do is get carded to start using this free resource!

Just be sure to book your appointment online! The appointment slots open I think exactly one week in advevery Monday (I'm not 100% sure on that though, and the time slot optionsare very limited and fill up quickly. If you can snag an appointment, it's one of the easiest and smoothest places to get passports done, especially with kids. Most recently, we used one of the multipurpose rooms here for a homeschool class event, hosted by an employee from the Las Vegas Natural History Museum for an ocean life class. I really love that the museum does that and we've always had great experiences with classes like this brought to us. Overall, this is a fantastic library for so many reasons, not just for checking out books, but also for community events, meeting spaces, and passport services. We've had nothing but great experiences here!

Whenever I've had a question at the front desk or needed help checking something out, I've never had to wait long. One of the best things about this location is the self-checkout system. It's super easy to use ... you don't even have to scan each book, DVD, or video game individually. Just place everything on the scanner and it checks everything out at once. They also have a great selection of PS5, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch games, which is something a lot of people probably don't realize libraries offer. The DVD selection is solid too. It gives me a little nostalgia of walking through Blockbuster back in the day. Instead of paying for streaming services all the time, I'd definitely recommend supporting your local library. I usually reserve my books, movies, or games online, and they notify me when they're ready. I just stop by, pick them up, and check out. The whole process is really smooth. One time they even called me quickly to let me know I accidentally returned my own video game with the library items, which I really appreciated. Renewing items online is also super easy. As long as nobody else has requested the item, they usually let you renew it without any issues. I personally don't stay long enough to study or hang around, so I can't really speak on the noise level like some reviews mention and rude employee interactions. For what I use it for ... quick pickups and returns, it has been perfect. The parking lot is spacious, and they even have 3D printers available for public use, which is pretty cool. You can also renew passports here, so the library really offers a lot more services than people realize. I've been to multiple libraries in the valley, including the Sahara location, and this library has consistently been one of the easiest and nicest ones I've been to.

SUMMER LIBRARY TIME IS HERE!…read more I like to go to the library sometimes it's nice to just chill inside there and check out what's new. The Summerlin library is always a great spot for that along with any of the libraries in town. Library cards are free where you can check out books, videos, and other items. It's free to use the computers, and nothing too pricey to use printers, copiers and fax machines. Plus, there are classes and workshops. You can check out the local library schedule online before you head out. I like that there is an amphitheater inside off to the side separate from the library area that hosts, different events and cultural shows throughout the year. These are all for nominal fees/admission. There is however, sometimes a downfall to coming to the library, especially in the summer because our friends who live on the street, also like to visit or camp in here to stay cool. Although the library welcomes everyone, this limits, what you can enjoy. Sometimes this can make the shared space feel uncomfortable because of drifting body odor and or unhealthy germs coming in and out. There's etiquette to going to public place of which I would think would be enforced here-- basically if you're not feeling well and or you are not in best health don't go. That should basically cover it to prevent viruses and unsanitary germs from surfacing. There was one incident where there was a safety issue as well where people go around looking for others purses or bags. So --I personally highly recommend holding onto your stuff. Honestly, I like this library but hesitate every time I go in because of this factor. There is a musty odor that you get right from your first step inside the entrance. I always like to think it's from the older books in there. But again it is really an older building as well and has a lot going on inside of it. The library staff is very nice and helpful if you need any help with anything, as well. If you have children, there's a wonderful children's wing. There are some really great programs there for reading and entertainment for early childhood to younger youth:) This library is located off of Inner Circle Drive in The Hills Community of Summerlin. A really nice older area of town... Across from the Albertsons shopping plaza, The Trails and there's a lot of different medical buildings in the area as well.

My company sponsors it, so I brought thank you gifts for donors. The Red Cross staff is kind and gracious. I didn't take any photos inside the blood drive for privacy reasons, but it was full of exceptional members of our community set on saving lives. Whenever I visit Centennial Hills Library I always check out the book store, and it never disappoints. I usually get children's books to donate to the Obodo library. This time the books were for me though. I have that Kamala Harris book "The Truths We Hold" in my Amazon cart right now. That's so fun. It would have cost me a lot more than the $1 I paid here. Plus, proceeds go back to the library, so win! As I walked around snapping pictures, the staff wanted me to tell you some things. The gentleman monitoring the resource room invites everyone to come in. He's ready with computers, homework help, and more. The ladies at the desk by the hydroponics said this is actually an adult ed class and you will create hydroponics to take home. They said to come out and take part. The cashier at the entrance to the media section offered that there are so many great titles to choose from in the book store. I couldn't agree more. She added that it's a good idea to stop by first when you're think of shopping for books. In all it was a lovely visit and a beautiful day at the blood drive.

The building appears large from the outside, but surprisingly only one floor. The bathrooms are located immediately to the right upon entry. They have a few vending machines in a little cafe type area. Water fountains are available, but no water bottle filler that I could find. The library is split down the middle, with kids section on the left and adults on the right. In the back left, they have a quiet area that is partitioned off with glass walls. In the back middle, they have a couple meeting rooms. There are two 4 person rooms that can be reserved at the information desk based on availability, or by calling the library within 48 hours of needed reservation time. Unfortunately, there is currently not a way to reserve them online ahead of time -- only by phone. There is an adult computer lab in the back left. On the outskirts of the adult section are several big reading chairs. There are only a handful of tables, which I think is something they could improve. Surprisingly, the noise level was at a minimum despite the kids section being open to the entire library.

My 4- and 8-year-old still talk about him, and going to the library just isn't the same without seeing him there. My daughter practically grew up attending his Storytime. When she first started going, she was extremely shy and would cry if anyone approached her. Mr. Patrick noticed that right away and met her exactly where she was. Instead of overwhelming her, he would gently wave from a distance, give her space, and slowly build trust. Because of him, she became more comfortable and confident in that environment--and that means everything to me as a parent. With my son, he was just as incredible. He took the time to recommend books he knew he'd enjoy and would even walk with us to show him the "cool" chapter books. He didn't just do his job--he genuinely cared. He once said, "Kids can tell if adults are nice or not--they are wise," and he truly lived by that. It's such a shame to see someone like Mr. Patrick leave. People like him make a lasting impact on children and families, and those connections matter more than words can express. That said, we are very grateful for Ms. Jessica and Ms. Melissa. They continue to show kindness and dedication to the kids, and it's clear they are loved by the families who come back week after week. Librarians play such an important role--many of our children grow up with them, and they help shape their love for reading and learning. I truly hope our tax dollars are going toward supporting and properly compensating these amazing individuals who are making a real difference in our community.
