As libraries go, this has to be the best library in our city. It is located right on Martin Luther King Boulevard. The towering structure invites you to come in and read, study, take a class, use their computer lab, create a podcast or record your singing voice. This massive library is 41,000+ feet and is double the size of the previous library. State of the art in every aspect here and there are so many opportunities for learning. I explored every nook and cranny and was so amazed. I wish I lived a little closer so I could take advantage of all the technology here. They have invested so much into this space and I know it will benefit so many youth and adults too. I loved checking out the multimedia lab. Here I encountered a very friendly employee who encouraged me to go into each room to see what it offered and provided me with a class brochure. I am just a wee bit jealous that libraries near me do not offer or have what this library has. As I was leaving, I discovered the Historical African American Collection that featured many Las Vegas heroes. I was mesmerized by all there accomplishments and feats. Their monthly calendar has a listing of all upcoming events and classes offered. This is where community can come together to learn, create or just pull up a chair and read an interesting book. read more

This building is a two story and they have media, computer lab, private rooms by reservation only and of course the children section. Don't forget to pass by the art gallery as soon as you walk in. I will NOT TAKE AWAY from this beautiful library just OPENING the other day! I LOVE the idea of a fresh NEW library! I seen their opening AD on Instagram while I was on a trip in CA and so I made it my goal to come by and work here TODAY! I looked up the hours on google and noticed their google page was incomplete so I ADDED some info! As I was pulling into the parking lot today, I thought to take a PICTURE of the front of the library for YELP and my parents, to show them I AM HERE, but shortly after, a ANRGY driver behind me, honked and was tailgating me as I pulled in to park, he would NOT get off my bumper, and so I got out my CAR to let him know I will be backing into my parking space without him. He kept BARKING at me, saying some NON-SENSE, no common sense, he had no control over my car, anyways, I was able to walk right into the library and tell... BTW, this library looks so PRETTY outside, very clean and I love all the architectural design they did! I walked in, went straight to the front desk, which was nice, to ask for security, security was called and in 1 min, DUSTIN came down to help me, he asked me what happened, who was it, and also walked me kindly to the computer area upstairs, which I wouldn't had found without his help! He said he will escort me outside when I am done if needed. He made me feel calm and safe again. That's what SECURITY is for. Vegas has some CRAZY entitled people with no life, while VEGAS has some well mannered people with a life. Anywho, THANK GOD! I am now sitting down at a computer doing some work and I will say NICE COMPUTERS, QUITE COMPUTER AREA, VERY CLEAN AND BRAND NEW, you get an hour on the computers, but you can extend ur time, and I cant wait to get up after my work is done and explore. I seen they offer a PODCAST room and I will be TAKING FULL ADVANTAGE OF THAT! I love that the city has funding for educational projects like this! Being an ALUMNI, I can appreciate this! West Las Vegas Library is the most awe-inspiring library I have ever entered! My jaw dropped, and I don't think my mouth closed until I exited the library! They have an art gallery room featuring pioneering African American legends, meeting and private study rooms, and a children's computer room downstairs, while the adult computer room is on the second floor. I took the elevator to the second floor to print a concert ticket, and the helpful employee showed me how to print my ticket and pay with my debit card. The other pleasant staff members bid me farewell when I left the adult computer room. I asked a pleasant staff member if someone could show me around the multimedia room, and a Caucasian man (I wish I had his name) gave me a tour. Inside, they have a room for light audio and video editing, a complete recording studio, a green-screen room for creating videos with any background one desires, and a podcast room! A patron must sign up online for an hour-long training session to use the designated rooms and can book a 4-hour session (I think it was twice per month, but I'm not certain on the maximum booking times), and it's all free! I am a music lover and author currently penning my highly anticipated autobiography, and I can see myself using the podcast room, green screen room, and music studio for future endeavors and creative ideas! West Las Vegas Library is an incredible, state-of-the-art facility, and their multimedia room blew me away! The only things the West Library is missing are a motel, a laundry facility, a movie theatre, and an on-site restaurant, and those could be coming at the rate they are going (just kidding). Every staff member I spoke to was super pleasant and helpful. The library just opened on December 8, 2025, so it's spotless! I highly recommend the West Las Vegas Library! read more

Visited the Las Vegas West Library recently and honestly, I'm so grateful this space exists for the community. It's one of the newer additions to the area, and after getting a tour of what it offers, you can really see how much it's an investment in local youth and neighborhood growth. Even though I went close to closing, the space was still lively. Students and community members were using the green room, podcast room, and other resources, which made it feel active and purposeful instead of quiet and empty. The whole library feels cozy, and the vibrant colors throughout the space make it visually interesting and welcoming instead of sterile. If you're looking for a place to learn, create, or just feel connected to the community, this library is definitely worth visiting. read more

We accidentally drove right past the library parking lot and ended up parking next to the arts center. There was loud construction outside, but inaudible from the inside. One of the vending machines was out of order. There were plant cuttings, but I am unsure if they are available to the public. The Bookstore is in 2 sections - only one is clearly marked and it's just a small table. The restroom hallway was not clearly marked. The staff was fabulous! They were very helpful and kind! This library is amazingly beautiful and huge!! My kids were so amazed with all that could be done here. They had activity prints for the kids, coloring sheets, a music room, an area for play that included toys, blocks and puzzles. My boys were able to get on the computer without having a library card which I loved since I hadn't yet received my new ID in the mail. Every staff member I came in contact with was genuinely nice and helpful. I loved the chess and puzzle tables, there were plenty of rooms marked for meetings based on age(teen room) and activity. Bathrooms were well kept and clean, there's rentable spaces. Loved everything about this place the gallery was a must see. I love what they did here. read more

It's cute and all but they have to work on their unhoused individuals problem. They take up all the seats, talk loud in the silent area, and unfortunately carry an odor that lingers in the library. How do I know it lingers? Because every time I go, I smell it! I appreciate the security guards monitoring and walking their rounds. Lord knows it's hot outside but people that actually come to enjoy the library, to study specifically, get the short end of the stick. I guess it's a bigger problem that the city can't control. read more

Wow, I haven't been to a library in years, this library has to be the best I've ever been to! the 2 story building was so calming and peaceful. Went on a Monday afternoon and was expecting a lot of kids, but surprising it wasn't and the ones there were well behaved. There's a 3d printer you can use for 4 hours at a time for free, a dj set up with headphones, rows and rows of beautful books, great views. The staff was very friendly and helped me find a book. The outside had some nice nooks to curl up and read a book or play checkers! A+++ read more

Shockingly unwelcoming for a library. Nevada has a lot of great libraries, so I had high expectations with how much buzz there has been about this one. It is probably okay as a daycare, if you don't need it after 6pm. But the people who work there all seem like they don't especially want anyone to actually use the library. Maybe it was just the unwelcoming vibe, but it does not seem like the tech features (except for a few un-fancy workstations upstairs) are available to adults and a number of the claimed features are just straight up not there yet. Basically, this library is large and clean and looks expensive, but it is poorly appointed and poorly staffed. The guy on the second floor was the worst, but like even the bathrooms seem to ignore the needs of people with disabilities. Just not good all around. read more

I had a wonderful and unexpected experience. What I mean by unexpected is that although there were a lot about the people who helped shaped the west side community, especially Ruby Duncan as well as paying homage to other celebrities for one reason or another. However, the only disappointing thing that bothered me is seeing celebs like Taylor Swift, Tiger Woods and many trendsetting others but not seeing the G.O.A.T of entertainment, Michael Jackson, who was and still is the most influential of all of them even after his death and he also lived here. That being said, if certain hotels on the strip could have a tribute show to honor him, then why can't the west side library have one to? Furthermore, I was shock to see that the media area was empty. So, I think with all the wonderful resources available such as many different studios where people can produce videos, make podcast and whatever else a person could do should be promoted in the community so that parents and their children can engage in. In other words, this library has the potential of being a great way for people, especially our youth of today, to utilize and elevate their lives for the better and that's good for all who are concerned about the enhancement of the community. read more

The computer is big and then they have a room to the silent door open. I was about to go and ask can we close the door but I was getting ready to leave so I was like whatever. It is not Study Friendly. It is REALLY LOUD at the library! The were more worried about my drink not having a lid on it then the obnoxiously loud man talking on the phone with the speaker on. I thought I would be able to come In here and study and did not expect for it to be a daycare. read more

It's a mission of mine to visit all libraries in the valley and this one stands out of the few I've been to. The staff alone makes this place special. Shout out to Keenan for showing me around and explaining everything in-depth and answering all my questions. China has more energy than the sun and was so kind to show me the performing arts center. Veronica was patient enough to help me check out books since I forgot my library card and Lisa even went as far to show me how I can apply to work at the branch. Went to this library for the first time, the gals @ the reception desk are so welcoming& helpful Had to get tax forms & download info to send the IRS. Lisa from the computer support department started to help me me download some forms & I had to leave the library for a short time & came back to find Deb who knew what I needed from information passed on from Lisa.Both professionals were friendly & helpful. I was so impressed by the staff, I experienced @ this library. What a nice experience & excellent service by Lisa& Deb. The women @ the reception were helpful too, I missed their names, but got a library card & showed how to check out a book! I was thankful & grateful for the exceptional help & service I received today! Management has hired well! Taxpayers $ is going to excellent use! read more

Pretty library with a inspiring museum however, the front desk staff is condescending and unaccommodating. Left a bad taste in my mouth. Nobody helped me in this library! Too busy chit chatting up at the front to care. They were very selfish and unwilling to help me. Never had an experience such as the one I did at other libraries around the valley. Shame. read more

This is a review for the West Las Vegas Library Theatre. The theatre is similar to those at several libraries in Clark County. It is a proscenium stage with seating for approximately 200. I have been to the theatre several times because this is the home for the Las Vegas Contemporary Dance Theatre which generally has two shows per year--a spring and fall show. The lobby for the theatre is somewhat small, but it's sufficient for the size of the theatre. read more

I was in line waiting for service at the West Library yesterday. I saw 50 employees gang up on this lady who wanted a guest pass to print paperwork. 50 employees were yelling at this woman, telling her, 'No ID, no guest pass!' That woman wasn't signing up for the military; she wanted a guest pass to print! I thought the employees were going to beat this woman up! There are 50 employees at this library, just sitting around eating donuts, yelling at customers, and talking on their cell phones with their friends. I thought I was at a night club. Disgusting! I just left this library and went to another library with great customer service! It's too many employees at West Library wasting the government's money! 50 employees all yelling at that woman for not having an Id. When I get stop in traffic by police even the police is not yelling at me or trying to beat me up because I didn't have my Id! I can't believe what I saw yesterday! Disgusting! read more

In the room holding said discussion there are children book characters surrounding the room on the walls, none of which are of any human character of color. Maybe if we don't want "cancel culture" we should trying being a more inclusive culture. If the library can't realize that, this struggle will be more than it needs to be. read more

I came here to support the Contemporary West Dance Theatre (formerly Las Vegas Contemporary Dance Theatre) in their performance yesterday. I did not know what to expect since I've never known of libraries having theaters, so I thought it would be a tiny stage in the middle of several rows of books, but I was pleasantly surprised by the nice auditorium and professional stage they had. It was on a smaller scale, in comparison to other venues I've been to, but I will say that I enjoyed the intimacy. The performance was completely free, and was quite spectacular since they had it very professionally done with such amazing artists, choreography, lighting, costumes and sets. The staff working the event were extremely generous and kind, I'm so glad I was able to attend! I love that Las Vegas supports arts for everyone of all backgrounds and has such talent presented for free! I highly suggest attending events at this theater, especially performances by CWDT. It makes for a great date night, family night out, or even as a solo "I just want to do something different" kind of day. Please support the arts and attend :) read more

This library is located in the "Historic West Side," which is now basically northeast Las Vegas. While this isn't my favorite branch to visit, I do think it offers a lot in terms of arts and culture and in serving a community in need. Meet with Carol and Leo who run the Young People's Library. West Las Vegas YPL was the 1st of 2 libraries in the system to implement a dedicated Homework Help Center. This center is awesome it helps children who may not get help at home with their homework (before you ask remember some children have parents who english isn't their 1st language or didn't graduate high school) so it is important in that aspect. But better than just helping kids with their homework they get tutors from UNLV who help the kids which gives the students at UNLV practical experience. But wait there's more. They get HS students who volunteer to work with children to help them with their reading comprehension while teaching the HS students work ethic and the ability to earn community service credit. But there is even more. They have 20 plus laptops available at the library for the kids to use to go on the internet to do research for their homework (no social media access, games or music) and allows them print up to 10 pages per day for free. I can't begin to say how impressed I am with Carol and her program and all the great work they do everyday. I am sure there is so much more I can't remember but I encourage everyone to contact Carol and see how you can volunteer to help this program or ensure the library by you has a similar program. We have a awesome library system here in the valley and we all should appreciate the work that people like Carol and her team do everyday. read more

You walk in .. there are babies crying. In a library! The bald woman at the front desk tells me that I need a library card to print anything in a dismissive way. FALSE!! The Aliante branch has a section for people who don't have a library card to print items. I'll go back to that one, they were much more courteous and actually know their jobs. As I'm seating in the African American Special Collection Center doing some studying/research, I decided that I should give this place a review. I like to be in the African American Special Collection section because it's a quite spot in the library where my favorite comfortable seats near an outlet so you can do homework. The library, as a whole, is small, but the staff are very friendly and everything seems quite organized. Plus, wi-fi accessible. There always seems to be some events popping out for the community and they do have theater next door which makes you want to check out when they have a show. read more

Yelp 100 Challenge * 28/100 **This review partially covers Broadway In The Hood's performance of Dreamgirls that took place Friday night. Broadway fans, stay tuned and look forward to future productions put together by Broadway In The Hood. I feel the need to get word out there over the quality of their performance, which deserves to be taken out of a relatively small theatre and out into places like the Smith Center or other bigger venues. On top of it being free, we got to enjoy 2 hours of professional entertainment with such an energetic cast (and thus, an energetic crowd) I swear, they were bouncing off the walls! And the vocals were out of this world! If you guys have some time today at 1:30pm, it will be their last show and tickets are distributed at the front of the theatre 2 hours before it begins. So be sure to get there early. I absolutely admire the efforts they put into the production and still find it hard to believe that they were able to round it all up in 2 months. Such a close-knit community that deserves all our support. And my opinion on the theatre itself is just as positive. It isn't exactly 'Reynolds Hall' or even 'Cashman Center' huge (probably accomodates about 100-150 or so people) therefore, an actor singing without an ear-hang microphone can rely on the microphones hung from the ceiling and still remain audible. Common theatre rules apply - no food, no drinks, no photo/video taking or else you'll be taken out. Volume and microphone to back-up balance was just right. The production I watched managed to pull off a lot of light and stage tricks which blew me away considering their lack of props and limited overall budget. I'm already excited for whatever comes next! And shoutout to the cast & crew of Broadway In The Hood. You guys ROCKED! read more
