Only getting one star because zero isn't an option. Very rude staff using outdated forms of order taking. This causes a bottleneck at the already small entryway, the cashier has to decipher and then ring in each item as if it were 1902. The food is bland, but what can you expect from a 10 page menu serving everything from Italian cuisine and "Chinese food" to cheeseburgers. Not to mention the atrocious parking situation. This former gas station and strip mall simply was not designed to be a restaurant. A simplified menu and streamlined order system would greatly benefit this over crowded and under staffed establishment. read more

It's like a hometown waffle house without the brand name or the limited menu and with more comfortable seating options. I've never had a bad experience here other than the waitress forgetting to refill my fries after I had asked for more. (Menu states that unlimited fries come with their sandwiches.) This was my first restaurant I ate at after moving to Bolivar and it is very good all around. Food is good, service is fast. They offer a complimentary cup of soup each day. Haven't tried it myself but others with me say it's very good. Chicken fried steak is good and hamburgers good as well with some crispy French fries served in a very unique manner. If you are southbound on Highway 13 to Springfield and need a quick stop, I'd recommend this place. read more

Hummm... not sure what to say about Springfield Ave. Cafe. While it appears to be popular among the locals, I certainly wouldn't rate it as the No. 1 restaurant in Bolivar (as it shows up on Yelp) ... at least for breakfast. I had scrambled eggs (which weren't quite scrambled), sausage links and hash browns. Everything tasted like old cooking oil, like it had all been cooked together. The restaurant is a bit pricy for breakfast. I did not see any breakfast plate on the menu for less than $6.99, and that was the day's special. Most plates were $8-10 for breakfast. All in all, not bad, but certainly below my lofty expectations, considering it's No. 1 Yelp rating. But hey, it's in Bolivar, Mo., where there aren't that many choices for dining. Would I go again? Perhaps, but for what I eat for breakfast I can get better at McDonald's, and it's cheaper too. read more

The restaurant was pretty dirty - the carpeting, the burned-out lights. The waitress was pretty nice, but could have been a bit more customer-oriented. It was pretty much, "this is the way we do it." My girlfriend and I were introduced to this lovely establishment through my mom and we absolutely love it! We've been there 3 times already and the atmosphere is cozy and welcoming. The staff are all very polite and prompt. So far everytime we have gone it's been the best experience, every dish was delicious and omg you have to try the caramel cheesecake, to die for! Plus you can also get a free cup of soup, yes free! All in all our new fave place in Bolivar when we visit. Keep it up guys! :) read more
