We have used Springfield Overhead Doors by Hart several times at different locations, for different reasons from fixing existing doors to replacing doors. every time they have been professional, courteous, reliable, and affordable. once they even suggested a cheaper fix for us and said it was a better quality solution, anyway, even if it didn't get them more money. Honesty and Integrity are hard to find in businesses these days, so I'd recommend them any day. During the installation, the installer realized he had the wrong color weather tripping, apologized, and was back a few hours later to finish that part of the job. Definitely showed he cared about doing the job properly and to our satisfaction. The only thing keeping me from giving five stars is that their process of confirming an appointment was not consumer-friendly. They called the day before, within an hour of the close of business, to try to confirm...I had told them I would not be available to confirm that day because I was traveling. However, they were going to reschedule if they could not confirm an appointment the day before the appointment, within an hour or so of close of business? I get that some people are chaotic with their appointments and don't remember them, but that's really not my fault. Perhaps a fee for cancelling the day of would be more appropriate? Either way, that process keeps me from giving a 5 star recommendation, but I would still use them if I ever needed maintenance or repair for our brand new garage door. read more

Aaron has terrible costumer service and tries to accuse people when they are the ones lying. He should be fired for the way he talks to people, your costumers. I will never recommend this company to anyone and I will never use them again. Do NOT use this company if you want to be treated with any kind of respect. I have never had a problem with these folks. Had a new door and opener installed a few years back and it went without a hitch. I have had them out for tune-ups and always been happy. I saw the low marks from a few years ago while calling them for a current problem and thought I would share my experiences. The technician was right on time and gave me options to repair or replace. He did the work quickly and disposed of all the old parts. read more

He took the time to show me some underlying damage to the door facing and discussed with me how it could be repaired. I greatly appreciated this, instead of just covering over it to finish his job. I wish I read the reviews before I called them but I didn't do my homework. I needed a spring replaced on my garage door. The service tech came to my house and because he did not have all the parts he needed he put a clamp on the spring as a temporary fix. They charged me $42.00 to install a $2 clamp as a "courtesy." Then came back the next week to replace the spring and charged me another $150.00. The owner refused to remove any charges after numerous conversations. Stay away! read more

My garage door was stuck halfway open. Someone I know recommended Springfield Overhead Doors Inc. I called on a Monday morning. I did not expect to be able to get someone that day, but I couldn't get anyone the next day either as they stop working at 4 or charge you time-and-a-half, so I made an appointment for Weds. at noon. The woman I spoke to told me "I can't guarantee we'll be there right at noon, but we'll be there as close as we can." I was told this at least 3 times during my conversation. She also mentioned that the serviceman would call us 10 or 15 minutes before he came over. On Weds. my husband took some time off work to be home when the serviceman arrived. He waited until 12:45 and called to find out when someone would arrive at our home. The person he talked to was very rude and told him that the serviceman was not guaranteed to show up at noon and that they could not give us an exact time for a service call. My husband could not wait around all afternoon for someone to come, he was going to have to work a full day and had made special arrangements to work later so he would have the time at home for this service call, so he cancelled the service. (Apparently the dispatcher did not inform the serviceman because he called to say he was on his way at 2:50.) We understood that we would not have a serviceman at our home at noon on the dot. However when we were told, "as close to noon as possible," we expected someone to arrive between 12 and 1. 3:00 is nowhere near noon on my clock. We will not be calling to reschedule. Perhaps part of the blame is mine because I didn't press for an actual time the serviceman would be there by. I didn't realize how ambiguous "as close to noon as possible" would be. Be careful when getting a quote as they add hidden fees to the overall bill. Also, the service technician was not personable nor did he fix the door. They have been called twice. The last time they were called the door only worked for two weeks before the same problem occurred again. We will call someone else. I would never recommend this company. read more

I would give them negative stars if possible. We spent a good amount of money for a new door and install by Hart. Everything from ordering, scheduling install, and calling back regarding post install concerns/questions was terrible. Fairly nice people, but horrible customer service & communication abilities. I wouldn't let them change my battery in my remote after my experiences. Best advice....go to Illini. read more

The gargage door of our home was damaged on December 23, 2013. For insurance purposes, 3 quotes were required and all quotes were received and turned into insurance. Once the insurance process was complete (January 27), I was able to select a company and order a door. On January 28, 2014 I selected Overhead Doors and signed a contract with them that quoted $1129 for removal and Haul Away Damaged Door, install New Door Reattach and Adjust Existing Opener. On February 11 I inquired with Kim (staff at Overhead) regarding a status update. Kim stated some parts were backordered and instatlation was now set for Monday, February 17. On February 13 I received notice that the door garage door was damaged upon receipt and the new door would be received the following week with possible installation February 21. On February 18 I contacted Kim to request assistance as our car was in the garage and due to all the weather elements and manually putting the car in the garage throughout the coldest month of the winter, the door would not open and the car was trapped in the garage. I asked for assistance in removal of the door and Kim stated that would require on call overtime pay for a tech to assist. That evening my husband and his friend removed the damaged garage door so that we could get our car out. On February 19 I notified Kim that we had done so and asked if the quote would be adjusted at all since we had taken down the door. I received no reply. On February 20 I sent an email asking if installation was still scheduled for the following day. I received a phone call from Kim stating the door did not arrive on the truck for delivery and they had no idea why. During this phone conversation I was quite upset. I expressed to Kim my dislike of the situation, explained that this is the 2nd door to not be installed and it is one of the coldest months in history. She stated that it was not her fault that the first door was received damaged, not her fault that the second door was not on the truck at the anticpated time, and certainly not her fault my garage door was damaged in the first place. After she made the comment about not being her fault my garage door was damaged I was very upset and asked to speak to the owner to which her reply was that 'if it will make you feel better hearing it from someone else'. At 5pm Friday, February 21 I receive a followup email from Aaron Hart attempting to discuss my concerns. I replied to his email that evening stating we would talk during normal business hours. Monday, February 24 I was unusually extremely busy at work so I called first thing Tuesday, February 25. Instead of a phone call back, I receive an email from Aaron stating the second door had been held up in customs and delivery and installation would be that week. I replied again on February 25 asking if the quote would be adjusted due to the door being taken down. The gargage door was installed Wednesday, February 26. The damaged door was in pieces on the side of my house, in which they did haul away. No other communication took place. An invoice was received in the amount of $1129. I promptly wrote a check for $1000 on March 6 and returned in the envelope a copy of the quote and highlighted the removal part of the door, as that had already been done and asked again for a revised quote. No correspondence was received and the check cleared my bank on March 11. On Monday, April 14 I receive a lengthy email from Aaron requesting payment in full or I will be taken to collections. Also stated in the email is that Kim, when initially given the quote, told my 15 year old son that we should not be using the door. My son does not recall her mentioning anything of that nature. Never would I even think about recommending this company. read more

Our garage door broke this morning so my husband called another company before 9:00 a.m. and when they had not returned our call, I called them back around 11:00 a.m. Wanting to hopefully get someone out there today, I called Springfield Overheard Doors by Hart at a little after 11:00 a.m. At 12:05 pm the technician called to inform me he was on his way out to my house. I informed him how long it would take me to get out there and to go ahead and feel free to look around. It took me about 15 minutes to get home and upon my arrival the door was already fixed. I couldn't believe it. The technician, Louis, was very nice. When he went to show me the door was working properly, it stuck. He asked me if that had been happening before and I informed him it happened just yesterday. This was a completely different problem that why we had called. However, he had the part in his van and was able to fix it as well. All of this was down in less than an hour. It was also done within 2 hours of my initial call. These guys get my business. The garage door company at Lincoln and Jefferson in Springfield, Illinois was given the job of installing a new door. After accepting their bid for door and it's installation...nothing but problems on their end. Had to make several calls to make the appointment. Never called me. Installation day they sent two door techs. Spent hour to set up heater. Cut out holes for door hardware in two separate panels. Installed both, one panel with door hardware and other panel with holes. Said they would replace at later date. They did not. Install technician ran into problems with door as they did not order correct parts for install. Left as soon as things did not work out. Door was left halfway up, halfway down. Door hangers were left unattached. Owner said they would be back with correct materials and replacement panel. Two months later several attempts to get them to make all good I called. The Springfield Overhead Door Company said they forgot. Then they said in order to finish job they would need another $800 on top of the first estimate to finish. This was unacceptable. Called the other Overhead Door Company. Long story short. The new garage door man repaired the hangers, balanced the door and taped up holes in damaged panel. No charge. He was embarrassed for the job his competition had done. He fixed everything Springfield Overhead Doors had contracted to do and did not. So go to Overhead Garage Door for your next project. They will finish their work and any competitors work who doesn't . read more
