The pharmacy is completely closed every day from 1:30 to 2:00 for lunch break. I work with the public myself, and we use staggered lunch breaks. She is so kind and very smart. That being said, the other pharmacy staff can be touch and go. It seems to be a lot better than previously. I'm mad at myself for forgetting her name- it's either Judy or Jody- and I've always thought we were so lucky to have her as our local pharmacist. The other pharmacist isn't necessary "not nice", he's very good at his job but his bedside manner isn't as warm and fuzzy. Not to say he's rude because that's not it at all. Our family just switched to this pharmacy over the last few months. But today was special as I found out how they treat their customers. When they can't completely fill your prescription, they charge you a copay for half. Fine. But when you come for the rest of your prescription a few weeks later, they charge you another copay. That's called gouging and this pharmacy and the owner should be ashamed of themselves. I'm glad I'm not a senior (yet)! The place is filthy with grime and stains around the door handles. Parking is also a nightmare. Just an overall dump and Ill be moving all our prescriptions as soon as possible.

Mostly, it's the people. They are a very friendly group, as a rule, some of them quite delightfully so. The pharmacists are thoughtful and easy-going -- no rush if they have to explain your prescriptions -- and the employees tend to be uncommonly pleasant to deal with. You can occasionally find some bargains here (they regularly put bottled water on deep reductions), and even some snack food items show up with a good price. It may not be the best ever -- is anything? -- but we have found over the last couple of years that this Walgreens is a good community member. We like 'em and recommend 'em.

However, today I decided to try something different by ordering online from Walmart, in West Lebanon NH. It indicated that my order would be delivered today, the same day I placed it, but I did not pay much attention to that detail. I assumed I would receive it sometime during the week. While I was relaxing in bed, I heard a car pull into my driveway. Since I was alone and not expecting anyone, I got up and went to the front door. I saw a white SUV, and the driver asked, 'Walmart?' I replied affirmatively, and he then indicated, 'It's over there.' As a linguist, I am familiar with various accents, and I could tell he was Hispanic. I even called out, 'Muchas gracias.' How fortunate are we? My goodness, this poor man is working on a Saturday night to deliver items that are of little significance to us. I hope this serves as a reminder, as it has for me, that we are incredibly fortunate to be relaxing in bed on a Saturday night while others toil to make our lives more convenient. Therefore, I extend my gratitude to Walmart and urge you to take care of your employees; without them, you would be nothing.
