I've never stayed here before...and only did because there was a large convention in town, and the hotels I frequent were sold out or crazy expensive. I didn't have high expectations, but I was pleasantly surprised. Hotel common areas and rooms are large and clean. Staff is very friendly. Complimentary breakfast is better than some of the executive lounges I've visited. This hi-rise hotel should be thought of closer to a Marriott than a typical 3-4 story Springhill Suites. Great location in the River North area too. Only knock is the elevators are a little slow at times. That said, I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again. read more

River North is a great location in DT Chicago. Walking distance to the River, restaurants, LEVAIN BAKERY and the L. (In fact, Levain satisfied my sweet tooth so much I skipped my much-anticipated visit to Garrett Popcorn). Free hot breakfast - I prefer hotels with this amenity to save time and money. Different hot food every day. We enjoyed spinach and cheese soufflés and ham and cheese croissants made by the fantastic Holly. Warm and friendly to all, Holly took care of us, always with a smile. VERY much appreciated their STRONG COFFEE, the oatmeal station and varied fresh fruit. The eating area is spacious and the bar next to it and lounge have cool decor. Our Double Queen suite was comfortable and roomy. My friend thought the aesthetics could have been better. Loved having a full length mirror on the armoire door and a microwave and mini refrigerator. Was concerned about street noise based on some reviews but on the 11th or 12th floor, it was quiet. The toilet/shower is separate from the sink. The flush was quiet, too. Even the 24-hour fitness room has a great view of the Marina "Corn Cob" Towers. On a minor note, the mini-mart in the lobby was closed but empty. I would have put the free bottled water in there, as they were just stacked behind the front desk. I got used to taking the elevator up to the main lobby, too. It does add an extra layer of safety with the guard on the ground level. Even though only one elevator worked one weekend day of our stay, for the price and location, I would consider staying there again. read more

With my current traveling group, Springhill Suites layout fits our family's needs the best and our first choice in Marriotts brands. This location is right in the heart of Chicago. It's reasonably priced and the layout for a corner room is amazingly spacious. Probably one of the biggest rooms of this brand we have been in. It had space for the kids to roam freely. Views of the surrounding area were also nice. Walkable to many superb restaurants. read more

Everyone from the front desk to the bar tender is nice. Everyone there is extremely friendly. They honored early check-in for $25 which isn't bad at all. I was able to get a room at 11am. They have a happy hour 6-7pm. No restaurant on-site though. Very close location to many restaurants and the river walk area. Free Breakfast there is good and clean. The hot breakfast selection was fresh. Wish they had make your own waffles that would be a plus. I would come back here again. I wished they would clean the rooms everyday though. Rooms are spacious and clean and did not have any foul odors. Parking is crazy here $75 a night though. Other than that no major complaints. read more

Great location that is a 25 minute walk to Navy Pier and 6 minutes to RiverWalk. The beds were comfy and staff were friendly. Safe location and even a bus stop near. The continental breakfast in the morning was great and had most of those breakfast staples and switched up the main items each day. It's decently close to a fire station, so there's a good chance you'll hear sirens occasionally. Overall we would definitely recommend this hotel. read more

A few things: + Bar isn't open during the week for the most part. + Front desk staff (once you find the front desk by going up the elevator from lobby 1) is awesome and answered all of my questions. + The room I stayed in was huge and included a bed, couch, desk, fridge, microwave, and separate vanity bathroom situation. Layout is a little funky but the space as a solo traveller did feel super nice. + Location is top notch - walkable to all River North has to offer. I did not sample the comp breakfast but I did use the fitness facility and enjoyed the coffee machine pretty much daily. This is a great spot for your Chicago travel needs! read more

This was a nice, clean, easily accessible hotel in downtown Chicago! I stayed here for three nights during the week for a work trip, along with about a dozen of my colleagues. When you enter the hotel, you don't walk right into the lobby. Instead, you take an elevator up to the lobby, and then have to hop onto a different elevator to get to your actual room. I am so on board with this for safety purposes ... but since the elevator to the rooms already required a key card, I do wonder why they didn't just have one elevator from the first floor that can take you anywhere with a key card, but doesn't require one just to get to the lobby? Anyways ... I arrived a little earlier than check-in time, and since my room wasn't ready, I left my bags downstairs with guest services. I always appreciate this option in a hotel, so you don't have to delay any sight-seeing while waiting to check-in. When I did check in, I was given a king suite on the 14th floor. This was one of the largest hotel rooms I've ever stayed in! The bed was comfortable, everything was clean, and while there wasn't much of a view (other than a parking garage), it was fun to be on such a high floor. Throughout my stay, I ran into a little trouble with the key cards, in both the elevator and the at my room. On my last night, I ended up having to go down to the front desk and ask for help getting into my room, because I just could not get the key card to work. They sent an engineer up in less than five minutes, and of course he was able to get it right away. I so appreciate the quick response time, since I have definitely stayed in hotels where a request like this could take around 30 minutes! There's also a hotel bar in the lobby, but it wasn't open until the last night of our stay. My colleagues and I spent a bit of time here chatting, but they're only open until 11, so you kind of have to make a decision to either go to bed, or go to a different bar. Overall, I would definitely stay here again! I loved the size of the room, and how clean everything was, and how friendly and helpful all of the employees were. read more

Used Spot Hero for the parking garage and saved money off the hotel rate and regular garage rate. I tried to check in on the the Bonvoy App and get a digital key but it wouldn't let me check in. So we went up to the second floor where the check in desk was and got plastic keys. Room was on the 18th Floor. Room was spacious overlooking the city. Bed was comfortable. Pillows sucked. I really hate feather pillows. TV had a Google Crome unit plugged in the back. I couldn't get it to connect to wifi. Would have been nice to watch our streaming services using my phone. The door on the closet was about to fall off. Room was clean and we had enough towels for two nights. We ate breakfast our last morning at the hotel. It was kinda sad. A step up from the bagged breakfast of a juicebox, apple, and granola bar though. We had scrambled eggs, a roll and oj. When we left we just dropped our cards in a recycle container. I did like the security. We would stay here again. It is close walking to a-lot if stuff we like. read more

We were here with a volleyball tournament and this was the hotel we were assigned. I was relieved that we were at a Marriott property, at first. 1. They knew they were hosting a bunch of girls in a volleyball tournament that begins at 8:00, which means that need to be there by 7:15, but the problem is that this hotel is a good 15 minute drive/35 minute bus ride away. They should have made accommodations for breakfast for all the athletes, since it's included in the price. Due to the tournament we never got to eat the breakfast we paid for with our room cost. 2. We got into our room and it was 85 degrees. The heat couldn't be turned down. They sent an engineer who showed up within minutes. He got it cooled down, said he needed to replace a part, said it would be done when we got back. We got back at night and we had been walking outside and were cold so the warm room felt good. We didn't realize right away, when they called to check and see how our room was, that it was still really warm. I called the front desk, was put on hold, after 5 minutes I finally hung up. I turned the heat off and heat was still pouring out. Made it all clear the the front desk the next morning. Was told it would be fixed and I'd get a call from the manager. It was fixedish. Had to have the AC on the whole time, despite the outside temps being anywhere from 30-55 degrees. Never got a call from the manager. 3. Asked to have more coffee delivered to the room since there was only decaf. Never got it. 4. At 6:30 in the morning the coffee bar in the lobby was totally trashed. No cream, no sugar, tea wrappers all over. 5. I'm sitting in the lobby writing this while we wait for our train and the brown herringbone furniture as the fireplace is filthy. Not just mildly dirty. Down right disgusting. 6. Our room was nice (despite the heating issue). Beds were good. 7. The coffee in the lobby was good. 8. Front desk staff were very sweet. read more

I have stayed in a variety of hotels across Chicago in the times I have visited but this was my first experience in the downtown Loop area. Location is the greatest feature of SpringHill Suites - River North: it's close to Daley Plaza (one of the reasons we chose it, to go to the Christkindlemarket), various L/metro stations, and bus stops. Plus it's downtown so there are always Lyft and Ubers driving around close by. The continental breakfast served at this SpringHill Suites was outstanding and one of the best hotel breakfasts I have ever had anywhere. Such a selection of hot foods (depending on the day - scrambled eggs, meats, french toast, breakfast sandwiches, hash browns), fruits, an oatmeal bar, and various coffees and juices. The breakfast bar attendants were so friendly and helpful. In fact, all the staff we encountered at this SpringHill Suites location were more than willing to go above and beyond to make our stay pleasant. The rooms themselves were clean and the view from our 25th floor room was spectacular! The only negative about this SpringHill Suites is that check-in wasn't until 4 PM, later than any hotel check-in I have ever experienced. We had to wait around at least a few hours and spent the last hour in the hotel's lounge, which was comfortable and had free coffee and hot chocolate. For those who want to check-in early, you can do so for $25, but no guarantee about how much earlier this really is. You can leave your bags at the hotel for no charge if you want to go out and explore the city after you check out, which is very convenient. Overall it was a great experience at this SpringHill Suites and I would not hesitate to stay here again. read more

Clean and comfortable suites. Housekeeping was helpful with any additional items that was requested. Ie: towels, coffee, and sheets blankets. Front desk staff were very accommodating with any directions I had asked them for. It was a four night stay, but I recommend this facility highly. The buffet for breakfast was hot and had a variety of hot and cold food items, no complaints. But,the coffee could have been better. It was hot and plentiful, just not great tasting. The two ladies that staffed the buffet were absolutely tremendous. Very helpful with assisting me with getting the food to the table. I can't praise Glenda and Ariel enough for the help they gave me. If I am able to return to Chicago I will definitely return to this hotel. I enjoyed my stay. read more

Comfort: 1/5 Location: 4/5 Staff: 5/5 When I travel for work, there's only one thing I care about: a good, firm bed. I don't care what the view is or what fancy amenities I get, I just want to sleep. The minute I laid on this bed, I immediately felt the unsupportive groove of where the other 1000 people before me had slept. When I called the front desk to discuss potential other options, they informed me none would have different or firmer beds, and that was very disappointing as a person with a disability that needs a quality bed. While I did not sleep well, I have to comment how kind, helpful, and pleasant the staff were to encounter on a daily basis. While I am not super familiar with Chicago, the location seemed to be easily accessible for walking, Uber, and other forms of transportation. There are several extremely close restaurants and things to do with walking distance, and you will not have a difficult time finding amenities nearby. I don't foresee myself staying here again just due to the comfort level, but if you are a soft sleeper this hotel will be a great choice for you. read more

I stayed here for three nights in late May 2022. It's right in the heart of River North and is very easy to find, located on the corner of Dearborn and Hubbard. Enjoy is a little confusing. You walk through the front doors to find a lobby area. You'll notice security and folks scurrying in and out of the elevator. That's because the guest check-in is on the second floor. The second floor also has a bar and a nice lounge area. I got an Old Fashioned cocktail at the bar one night and it was on point. The first night I had a regular room with a king sized bed. However, the next morning I woke up at 6am to find my floor was an inch deep in water. As it turns out, the room next to me flooded and it was making its way into my room. I called the front desk and they sent someone up immediately and upgraded my room. It was on a higher floor and instead of a king bed, had two queens. It was also pretty large with a small kitchenette, desk, and couch. It had a great view and I couldn't help but totally forget the issue because they made up for it. The rest of my stay was great. The staff was friendly, the rooms clean and updated, and I loved the location. read more

Stayed here during a work conference and it was a generally enjoyable stay. The beds were comfortable, the room was clean, and the location is excellent. It was close to our office but if you're in town visiting it's also a great location for leisure--walking distance to the river, to the lake, easy access to the el lines and several buses that run the length of the city, and lots within walking distance by way of food and beverage. You'll be able to find everything you need around you here. The market in the lobby is convenient and I appreciated that they had fridges in the room. It was easy to stash some beverages, snacks, and leftovers in there instead of throwing them out. I also did delivery a few times and that was very easy, too. Valet was easy to navigate, too, especially since they're located on such a busy road. I'd definitely give them another stay if I were in the area, for business or pleasure. read more

We stayed here for a conference and this hotel was part of the conference hotel block. With 3.5 stars and pretty high price per night we expected certain quality. This hotel was a big disappointment. First, this hotel does not have a lobby on the ground. Guests arrive to the garage level and have to go through a massive heavy to operate rotating door into a crammed space and then wait for an elevator to get to the lobby on the second floor. This is super inconvenient. From the lobby there is a different elevator that takes you to your room. So you got to catch your "connections". Elevators are not running often, so there are always people waiting. The room layout was a disaster: bathroom was in the middle of the room - cut into the space at an angle. Bathroom had two sections: shower and sink. Sink section does not have a door. So when you turn on the lights at night to use it you are waking up everybody. And when you are doing your makeup or brushing your teeth you are on display (maybe ok for families but not if are traveling with colleagues). Light by the beds was insufficient. Power plugs: you think they would be by the beds, but they were across the bed on the other wall. TV screen was mounted in the furthest possible spot from the bed (no one watches TV - but this is all part of the poor setup). Same with the wardrobe, and the microwave - kitchen corner. Good designer could have made this space work!!! Hotel seems like went though a recent upgrade. Carpets on our floor were new but the appliances were so old, you don't see those anymore. And no cups, not utensils, no water glasses, no selection of coffee/tea. Basic stuff for 3 star hotels. Views: we were promised amazing views, our room was overlooking garage structure and a bunch of commercial size ACs. So bottom line - this is not a good value and quality. Chicago has many great hotels, this is not one of them. On a positive side - hotel stuff is very friendly, patient, helpful, responsive and overall great. read more

Awesome hotel! I stayed here recently and loved being in the area I used to live in; it is so much fun, and you feel very much "in the middle of everything." The process to go up to the second floor for check-in is not complicated or difficult. Aside from the wonderful location, the rooms are spacious, with each room being a suite that includes its own couch. We had a reasonably comfortable bed and happened to have a great view too. Nothing felt dated or dirty, instead quite refreshed and streamlined. The only slight negatives are that the refrigerator (I think) makes a humming noise, which is right on the border of noticing it/not doing so for most people. I happened to do so, but not everyone did. Also, the TV remote didn't work for long stretches. I would still stay here for a staycation in the future! read more

Wanted to spend a few days in Chicago after being stuck in St. Charles for work training. Looked up Marriott hotels and this SpringHill looked good! Yet another Marriott to my long list of hotels that I've stayed in. Had a studio with one king on the 20th floor. Had a great view of the lake, although one of the days my view was completely obscured by the pouring snow. Room was really spacious and clean. Bed was very comfortable. Was a fan of the walk-in shower, and it even had Tea Tree shampoo! Staff here was fantastic. Nadia and Madison were subbing in from the nearby Fairfield Inn and helped me with getting my rate reduced from the one that I had originally booked it at. Saved quite an amount of dollars! Location is great at it was very centrally located. Was walkable to a few places that I wanted to check out such as The Purple Pig and the river. Also was a quick Lyft ride to most other places. Really enjoyed staying here. If I ever come back to Chicago, this will definitely be my pick! P.S. Really wish I could have taken advantage of the pool and spa on the 27th floor, but considering it was the end of October I didn't quite pack for that. :| read more

Stayed here last month for a long-weekend trip to Chicago. Our room's bathroom, bed, and desk had been recently renovated. Overall the room was clean and well-kept, making for a great place to sleep after adventures across the city. The lobby and breakfast areas were very nice and were large enough to accommodate the breakfast rush. At night, security ensured that those entering the elevators to the rooms were hotel guests, which was nice. The one possible drawback to this hotel is that it appears to be right in the epicenter of a big bar/party area of downtown Chicago. At night on the weekend, the streets were quite lively, which may not be what some people are looking for. However, the noise outside wasn't a problem from our room on the 5th floor which faced the streets with the bars. I would definitely stay here again on a future visit. read more

Stayed here when in town for a trade show this week. It was pricey, but work paid so I can't complain. The lobby is on the second floor, so you have to take an elevator or the stairs to get up to check in or transfer to another set of elevators to get to your room. Secure location since the elevators require your room key to get to your floor. Super friendly staff, convenient location, and the rooms were really comfortable. One minor challenge was finding the right temperature for the room. Other than that- cannot find any negatives for this property. Right near so many places in river north so you can't go wrong here. Great complimentary continental breakfast in the morning. There were eggs, sausage, fruits like banana, yogurt, croissants, juice, water, tea, coffee. Breakfast ends at 10am. There's also a bar inside the hotel where the lobby area is. There's happy hour Weds, Thurs, Fri, Sat, and Sun. It's happy hour for the first hour and last hour. This place gets the job done. It's clean and in a great location. They also have security at the door at night, which is much appreciated. I also loved that you aren't required to take the complimentary breakfast back until your room - you can actually eat in the common area! Yay social distancing going away! This is a spectacularly nice fancy hotel right in the middle of Chicago which usually has extraordinarily high prices that I can't really afford - but from time to time you can find very special deals online for all of the hot hotels in downtown Chicago. It's not consistent and you never know which hotel it's going to be, but if it's this one jump on it (like I do, with her) cuz it's a really nice place and I would definitely stay here again. A palace, in fact. The only reason I don't give it a higher star rating is because it does cost a lot of money for the regular room rate - way more than I can afford for sure. read more

I contacted the Hotel several times and each time they tell me that either the Manager is in a meeting, busy or someone will call me. 4 days later, still waiting for a call. Today, when I called they hung up on me, when I tried to call back I got a recording. We had a great experience at this hotel. Everyone from the bellhop to the desk employees to those in the breakfast area were cheerful, helpful and clearly answered all of our questions! Probably the best all around service I have experienced in some time. The room was clean and the corner room on the 12th floor had a great view. Parking lot was easy to access and it is in a great location near The House of Blues and restaurants. Breakfast tasted ok, but they kept everything stocked and it was included in our stay. I requested and got a corner room on a high floor (Room 2024). Therefore, I had 2 views of Chicago's architecturally interesting skyline from 2 large windows. I could see for miles having a water view between the buildings. There are 27 floors. The view from the 27th deck is awesome. Go up there for the view even if you don't want to use the exercise room, pool or spa. Room 2024 had a small refrigerator and microwave oven.There was no safe in the room. There were 2 full size beds in the sleeping area. There was 1 television that could be turned toward the sleeping area and sitting room. The sitting room has an L-shaped sleeper sofa and a desk & chair. There were no lamps in the bedroom. Each bed had a fluorescent light over the top controlled by 1 on/off switch between the 2 beds. This was to bright most times. There was no way to have dim lighting in the bedroom. We used our travel flashlight every night or cut the light in the bathroom on with the door ajar when we wanted dim lighting. There is 1 teeny tiny nightstand between the 2 beds. Not enough space for very much. The lighting situation was a bit irritating, the lack of a proper nightstand bearable. The Wi-Fi signal was better in the room than in the lobby area for some odd reason. I connected my mini iPad to the TV's HDMI connection and streamed a sporting event so 4 of us could watch it. I tried streaming the same event on my MacBook Pro using the same TV HDMI connection and that wouldn't work. Perhaps, the streaming download bandwidth is controlled. I dunno. The lobby is very attractive and shared with Springhill Inn. There is an indoor exit/entrance from the lobby to paid self parking garage ($49 daily). The lobby is 1 floor up from the ground level. This is unique. The views from the large lobby windows are lovely though. You won't regret choosing this location or nearby. It's near everything. Marriotts are all over the city. We couldn't walk a full 2 blocks w/o seeing another one. We walked to Magnificient Mile then down to the John Hancock Building and back. There are sooooo many excellent eating places nearby (YELP it). We took a taxi back from the Navy Pier and that cost less than $8 for 4 of us. A very nice doorman, Neil, gave us a local map and annotated the map for us showing where we were and where we wanted to go. The doorman can sell you discounted tour bus tickets also. Ask. We were in town when Lollapalooza, an annual young people music festival, was in town. It's an annual August event. Stay away from Chicago then if you can. The room rates are much higher. We stayed 4 nights. If we hadn't paid so darn much ($338-$395 + tax) for the rooms, I would rate this 5 stars but for the nightly rates we paid, we shouldn't have any gripes and we had a few. So I subtracted 1 star. read more

The pillows are uncomfortable the rooms are uncomfortable, the room wasn't very clean. There was hair in the shower and pubic hair in the towels. There's some kind of work being done in the hotel and it's EXTREMELY loud!! Correction* I'm not sure if there's work being done or the other guest are just extremely inconsiderate! The second night here, the noise has continued! There's constant doors slamming, which shakes my whole room. The bathtub feels like you're going to fall through it, it literally dents in when you step in. I called the front desk to see if they could change my room, they told me they over booked for the weekend so the most they could do is "knock a little off my rate" I would not recommend this hotel. Also the WIFI sucks!! AND you have to stand in one specific spot to feel the air conditioner! read more

This is my go to hotel in downtown Chicago. I just stayed there this past weekend. First, it is perfectly located in the River North district. Just 2 blocks off the river, it is 1 block from shopping on State St, 3 blocks from Mich Ave and less than 1/2 mile from Chicago's theaters or Millenium Park. Second, the staff is always super friendly. I've been staying here for over a decade of Chicago visits. Stays here (or the connected Residence Inn) never disappoint. The breakfast staff always brightens the day! Third, this property is one of the few Marriotts downtown that falls under their Category 4 rewards redemption. Fourth, food. Hub 51 connected to the hotel is amazing. The property is also a block or 2 from so many great restaurants including Harry Caray's and Ruth Chris. For cheaper eats try Epic Burger or Protein Bar on Clark St (1 block). And Mother Hubbard's 1/2 block away is a great sports bar to belly up to. read more
