This hotel property is in a great central location. The parking lot is small and a little cramped, but convenient to the entrance. It's nestled inside of a busy intersection. There is a WaWa (food, gas, etc.) nearly walking distance from the parking lot. It's also close to the main interstate/highway if you're going further into other busy areas of the city (Christiana Mall, etc). The rooms are clean, the staff is helpful, the check in/out process is seamless. I would stay here again if passing through the area! read more

This is the worst experience I've had with any Marriott products. Everything here is toward the old white guy who's working the afternoon shift on May 4th, 2025. Got the hotel around 12:30pm at the premise of asked for early check in, room wasn't ready, totally understandable. Left my luggage at the frontdesk then enjoy the world. It was a elderly white lady working at the frontdesk. Received a message at 1:49pm and said my room is ready, after got back around 6pm, a different person--a older white guy (I dunno he's name, let's call him Steve cause he looks like a Steve) said he can't find my checkin details, asked for my passport for 3 times cause "I didn't see you in the system" not until I showed him the checked-in detail in the mobile app, then all of sudden "Ah now I see you, yeah you're in the system". Then what's the reason you ask for my passport 3 times? Then it's "there's a hold on your card blah blah blah" which we both know is a LIE. Turns out old white boi name was John, remember that. While the first time I was checking in (12:30pm), already sent my MMF form even before I arrive the hotel. After arrived the hotel I sent out the form 2nd time then Steve said "I didn't see your MMF form", well is that my problem as a customer cause you're impeccable with your job? No! I've already done my part, the rest are none of my concern! After he "found" my record, all of sudden the room on my app changed from 315 to 216, when I get in the room I find there's no tub so got back for a room with tub. This time been changed from 216 to 223 "I'm pretty sure there's a tub in this one". Turns out, nop, still no tub. But it's already too late so I'll deal with this one tonight. Asked him "My room been changed twice but still no tub, please don't ruin my long-waited staycation & change me a room with tub tomorrow, Ty". Going downstairs, then been "Senor"ed and told me "That person who signed me the form might get in trouble". Firstly, I'm not Latino, so why you "Senor" me? Are you trying me let me make a discrimination claim on you? Secondly, are you threaten me? A paying customer cause you made a series of mistake and trying to shift the responsibility on me? I've got everything on record and the times of the emails won't lie. Hardword complain is the least I can do. Maybe, I'm just saying, maybe Marriott needs to hire someone who's capable and respect their duty and those who put food on their table. read more

Shout out to Phyllis and Ella who were behind the counter when I checked in! Don't think I've ever been so genuinely welcomed to a hotel, and I've checked into a hotel hundreds of times! The hotel itself is relatively new and still in good shape. Location is convenient to UD and many restaurants. Breakfast was the usual and boring SpringHill Suites breakfast. As noted by another reviewer, make sure you grab breakfast before 9:00am because they start putting things away at 9 sharp, and by 9:07am there was nary a crumb to be had! 5 stars for the desk staff, 4 stars for the property, and 3 stars for breakfast. This Spring Hill was recently built when we stayed. We were in the area to go to Longwood Gardens which was 30 minutes away so not too far. The hotel was new and updated and also had a ground level parking just in case of inclement weather. The lower rooms will start on the 2nd floor so keep that in mind. The rooms were nice and clean with newer fixtures on the room. They are also pet friendly, but you have to pay 35 dollars a night per pet. Two pets are allowed per room and you do have to leave your contact info at the front desk. Staff were friendly and accommodating. Breakfast is served everyday on weekdays at 6:30 and 7 on weekends. Rooms do have stand up showers which saves space in the room. They have walk in closets in the room as well. Microwave and mini fridges are available for your convenience. Overall, this was a great hotel to stay for one night or for a couple of days so no complaints. I would definitely stay her again. read more

Stay here whenever I'm in De. My wife and I enjoy the hotel, the bar and the breakfast. Our only concern is that the food delivery people aren't asked to check in at the front desk and have guest come pick up their food. The delivery service folk can walk past the front desk and jump on the elevator for their deliveries. We had a sense of feeling unprotected. read more

Super disappointed in this place. I am here for work so opted to stay outside of Wilmington to stay here. Never.Again. They don't have a restaurant. I checked in at 4:30 and asked if the restaurant (that was still closed) served dinner and I was told no, only bar snacks. Which by the way, the sign said it was open 4pm-10pm daily. Hmm interesting. I'm also a Titanium Elite member so upon check in for 1, I received a 2 queen bed room and only 500 welcome points. C'mon Marriott!!!! read more

Looking for a good nights sleep? This is NOT the place. The hotel is literally next to a railroad. Every time a train comes thru they are loud and blowing their train horn. Must have count 4 trains coming thru. Not sure who came up with the idea of building a hotel next to the rsilroad tracks, but must have been thinking of the $$ only and not the guests. Never again. I had a great time staying here. The staff was very friendly, room was nicely clean and furniture and layout of the entire hotel is modern. There's parking on blacktop and also underneath the building. Checking in was smooth and fast. Our room as a walk in closet and that's a first I've seen with a Marriott chain hotel. This hotel is pet friendly. I have a new puppy and decided to take him along on vacation. There's plenty of other fur babies I've seen staying at this hotel but honestly, I couldn't have known considering every spot is so nice and clean here. Complimentary breakfast was good with variety of cold and hot breakfast. Seasoned potatoes are my fav and it hit the right spot along with some waffles. During my stay, there's two minor issues. One of the two elevators were out of order but means everyone is waiting to get on/off the elevator unless you're brave to walk up potentially 5 flight of stairs. The second issue is that the swipe access to the side entrance door is out of order as well. The door is near the handicap parking area so it was really inconvenient to have the door nonfunctional. Brand new, beautiful rooms, great location. SpringHill Newark is the best Marriott/SPG property in the Wilmington/Newark area because of its spotless facilities and it's proximity to downtown Newark with all the good dining and nightlife options. Rooms are spacious, beds are comfy, and the water pressure is just right. The only hang up I have is that the fitness center is rather limited. Maria at the front desk was very helpful, and the staff makes you feel welcome. I look forward to staying here again! read more

The pros: Friendly staff, the rooms were clean and overall I didn't have any major complaints They have social distancing measures in place. The cons: The door wouldn't close normally. You had to push hard and even then, God forbid there's a security issue. It might have been a piston hinge issue on the door. All I know is you wouldn't be able to close the door quickly if you needed to. No ice tray in my room. Not the biggest deal. There was an option to use a virtual remote control for the TV. I pulled it up on my phone and it was almost useless. So, a lot of tiny nonsense things added up but most of it was petty. This is a three star place for sure. read more

I was in town for a powerlifting meet, and I needed a hotel to relax at from check in to about 6am the next day. I loved the pictures I saw with this hotel and I gave it a shot. First before the pros and cons... I want to give a massive shoutout to the front desk staff. I literally got to town at 10am and had nothing to do all day. I called up and they said they would call if a room was ready early. I figured maybe around 3pm. But they called me at noon! This was greatly, greatly appreciated! Pros: - The room was indeed very modern! I enjoyed the look. It wasn't like most outdated and boring hotels. And I did enjoy the room. - The bathroom was super nice! I liked how it had the shampoo and conditioner and body wash in the shower vs those small bottles other hotels give you. - Overall the room was very clean. I never felt skeeved out or anything. - The bed was pretty comfy. No issues there. Cons: - There is a railroad track that runs on one side of the hotel. Is it insanely loud, no. I am a light sleeper, and I slept with earphones in anyway. This didn't bother me but I am just letting you know! - For whatever reason... The walls must be thin? But I can hear the water running after a toilet flush or something from another room very loud and clear in the room I was staying at. This was a pretty big deal to me. It was very loud. I want to say it didn't wake me up much, but I am not sure. - The couch had dirty looking stains on it. We stayed off it. Too bad too because it seemed very comfortable. Overall, I think it was a bit expensive per night. The only other criticism would be I wish there was an outside lounging area. I think I would consider other hotels in the area for next time, but I would stay here again for sure. I'd prob do 3.5/5 but Yelp doesn't do fractions! read more

Overall the hotel is nice, however they still use the excuse of safety protocols related to Covid not to come into your room to clean or to exchange Towels, however they Still charge you the full rate. He walk around the hotel and the employees are on masked But when you ask why your room was not clean, they will tell you that is because of Covid. In reality it's more related to reducing cost and trying to cover up staffing issues. Overall not a bad place but Just tired of using a process that was needed in 2020 but carrying it over two years later. read more

My stay here was lovely. The rooms are very clean and smell great. The hotel staff were super friendly, until I went down for breakfast and was running late so I popped in a bagel and the kitchen staff started working even faster it seemed to get all of the food back to the kitchen. Not even asking me, " hey want me to leave some butter or cream cheese for your bagel?" Now I work in F&B as much as sometimes I want to get home I also know how important it is to make the guest feel comfortable. So who ever worked this morning 10-05-18 shame on you! Went down for breakfast at 9am and they were closing down. Nice worker offered to get me a bagel and even took out toaster for me. Hotel eggs were cut up in cubes???? Take away the artistry and a nice scramble is sufficient. I think serving breakfast until 9:30am is reasonable read more
