What a pleasant overnight we shared recently at Hearthstone Inn! Its location, in the heart of Cedarville was perfect for our explorations. Ample parking was behind the inn; newly asphalted too! The reception lobby was open and inviting. The timber beams, heavy hand tools and dated photographs nodded to the entire area's rustic roots. Manager Joan greeted us warmly, and regaled us with stories of the village's pioneers and valued residents. It was wonderful! Our first floor Queen Room (~ $160) was spotless, fresh and quiet. Bedding was comfortable, as was the room temperature. All appliances and fixtures worked well. Loved the Evelyn & Crabtree toiletries as well as the thick, fresh towels! Breakfast was very simple, consisting of cereals and canned fruit salad with a few cellophane-wrapped sweets, but the local coffee brew was hot, fresh and strong! We visited the little gift shop, and picked up a history book and vintage postcards. There are local crafts and wares available too. We recommend the Hearthstone to anyone considering a visit to the area. read more

We were on a 4 day bike ride on the Ohio to Erie trail and stayed here on our second night. The hotel could not be any closer to the bike trail. They really cater to bikers and went out of their way to have breakfast ready for s early since we had 100 miles ahead of us that day. Great place and friendly staff. read more

My wife and i stayed here for 2 nights just to get away from home for a couple nights. got the jacuzzi king suite and absolutely loved it. Service was top notch, reps were friendly and room was super clean. The only negatives i'd say is for the amenities offered and no pool the price was a bit high, iirc it was 478 for 2 nights in the king jacuzzi. Breakfast offering was also pretty bare bones and very continental but considering its a small property i can see them not having much in the way of warm food ie eggs, etc.. Might i suggest a pancake/waffle machine? We had plans to eat at clifton mill for breakfast so this wasn't a huge deal to us. Overall would definitely recommend and would stay here again. read more

I had a very nice stay at this hotel. The location is handy. The rooms are very clean and well appointed. Coffee is available quite early, which is welcome for early risers. The common areas are filled with historic information about the area, so if you have a few moments to kill, take a look at some of the display cases. The porch is just lovely, no other way to describe it. While they do not have a bottle filling station, they do have a variety of beverages and snacks you can purchase. A few improvements could be made. The furniture in the lobby could use some deeper cleaning. The breakfast was a bit underwhelming. Nothing is cooked on site. The breakfast will get you on your way, but it is quite basic. None of this is a deal breaker though. The owner is a very nice person. He is friendly and very accommodating to cyclists. Our biking group stayed at the Hearthstone and had an amazing experience. The staff is super accommodating and the hotel rooms are so comfortable and clean. We loved our stay at the Hearthstone. The owners were so hospitable that we felt like we were staying in their own home. The Inn is cozy and lovely and the cycling in the area is great. (We were in the area for a bicycle trip). The Inn is right on the bike trail, so it is possible to never have to trailer the bike or to be on the road to access all the other trails in the area. One of our group left something behind after checkout and got a phone call from the Inn about it. No chain hotel would do that! We will definitely be back. Highly recommended! read more

I spent 2 nights at Hearthstone. I was part of a bike group that was staying in the area. I was so impressed with this inn. First, the staff was super helpful and so kind. They asked what time we wanted breakfast just in case we wanted it before their 7:30 starting time. The room was clean and modern. The best part were the 2 bottles of hand soap at the sinks and the bottle of lotion in the bathroom. I assumed my roommate had brought them, not so, they were provided by the Inn. What a wonderful surprise! Another positive was that the bike trail runs next to the inn. I highly recommend this hotel! read more

We've spent 2 nights with this hotel this week. Ruth and Stuart, the owners, were running the front desk and managed every service ask we had. They treated us with highest care and respect than any other hotel in our experience. They took care of our bikes in a locked storage room, made sure coffee was fresh for me and answered about a dozen concierge questions of me and my family. Stuart and Ruth both had such enthusiasm about the hotel and were kind about everything we discussed. We appreciate this hotel like its a family after two nights. The front desk staff clearly knows the town intimately. We know this to be a unique establishment now. We will return, and recommend to friends! Oh, and the rooms styling was just perfect- classy, well lit, and obvious attention to detail. Just wonderful experience. I regularly ride the Little Miami-Prairie Grass Trail and often passed by the Hearthstone Inn as it is located right beside the bicycle trail. I had been wanting to stay there for several years and finally had the opportunity to do so. It was wonderful. The room was very nice, the bed comfortable, nights quiet, and--although there are no chafing-dish type offerings at the continental breakfast--there was plenty to choose from. The staff is very friendly, courteous, and helpful. I definitely plan to return and recommend this inn if you plan to ride the trail. read more

This is the perfect place to stay. It's open & airy, clean, neat, very accommodating, good breakfast to start your day, easy to get to, huge parking lot, and right on the Ohio to Erie bike trail. My boyfriend and I had such a great experience here! It was a super cute inn and dog friendly! Ruth is one of the nicest people we have met and her husband (I unfortunately didn't catch his name) was equally as friendly. This little quaint hotel is very well taken care of and the staff were extremely helpful. There wasn't one thing about our stay that I would necessarily advise changing. We stayed here almost a year ago, when on a college visit to Cedarville University. I've honestly thought about our weekend since then. I was in the midst of dealing with a family member that was dying from cancer and we squeezed in a college visit here; so I was not in a good frame of mind. This sweet hotel was literally a breath of fresh air and such a wonderful, unexpected memory during a difficult time. When we drove up my daughter commented that it felt like she was in a Hallmark movie and I couldn't agree more. This hotel is family owned and worth the visit if you're ever near the area. read more

Altogether, this was an excellent hotel. We stayed here for one night in December 2008 and wished we could have an excuse to stay an extra night. We've been going to Hearthstone Inn for 10 years to visit family in this area. We recently had a wedding in this area. We had both sides of the family reserve rooms here so we could hang out for a long weekend and in-between wedding festivities. It was wonderful to have everybody together and staying down the hall from each other. We hung out in the lobby each night, and had the whole place to ourselves. We sat in big groups, with chairs for everyone, and had several coolers and snacks they let us bring in. One night we ordered in 10 pizzas from Colonials and Hearthstone Inn let us have the buffet counters to put it all out on. We were even given part of the fridge to keep our leftovers refrigerated for the following day. We would have never had this privacy and comfort in a larger hotel. The Hearthstone is quaint and clean and very well kept. The owners will do everything they can to serve you. I stayed here for one night while biking across Ohio. This inn is only about a hundred feet from the bike path. There are a number of restaurants nearby and a laundromat across the street. The rooms are spotlessly clean, the staff are all friendly and helpful. They let me park my bike in the room (and you can rent bikes if you didn't bring your own). The place has character that chain hotels do not have. read more

While looking for a place halfway between Michigan and Kentucky for a girls weekend and lucked out to find this gem! It is located in a nice quiet little town and it is beautiful, comfortable, peaceful and privately owned. The owner Ruth was so welcoming and helpful suggesting places to see and dine and she was spot on with her recommendations. The queen double room was perfect for us and had everything we needed including a refrigerator and 2 vanities with sinks - perfect for 2 women getting ready at the same time. The decor is so homey and very well done. I think my favorite part was the front porch where we enjoyed drinking their delicious coffee while rocking and listening to the birds and fountains. What we noticed was how clean everything is - which is rare at most hotels. The breakfast was really good and fresh and we got to enjoy the beautiful living/dining area and met some very nice people as well. I highly recommend the Hearthstone Inn!! read more

I cannot say enough how great the Hearthstone Inn is and how wonderful the owner and her staff are. My sisters and I planned a weekend get together in Yellow Springs and booked it six months ago. We are from Austin, TX, Wash DC and Lebanon, OH. When we arrived at the b&b we had booked, we found that they had double booked our room...booked out the whole place for a wedding party. We started calling around and finally hooked up with the Hearthstone Inn. We told them our story and the gave us a great room at a great rate. We love everything about this place.
