I had called Johnny initially, and he did tell me that his rate was $150 hourly. I wasn't sure if that was high, but it seemed kind of high so I didn't call back right away. However, I had a conversation with my neighbor across the street who gave me the number of someone who would come and worked on her system and said that he was really great. Ironically it was Sunset. So I figured that might as well pay a little more than I wanted to know that whoever came was good at what they do. Referrals are everything. I called Johnny and he was able to get me in rather quickly. He actually ended up coming a day earlier than we had planned because he had some extra time and it worked for me. He was able to figure out my system really quickly and spent the time to show me how to program it and make sure it's working. He also told me to call back in the winter that he could chop down a pesky tree that I would love to remove from my front yard. Overall, he was very personable, and definitely seem to know what he was doing. While his prices were exactly what I had budgeted for I would so much rather pay a professional who knows what they're doing then go cheap and end up with bigger problems than I started with. I had two years to figure out the system and never could but he was able to in five minutes. I am so looking forward to not having to worry about hand watering in the mornings anymore. I had only some vague ideas of what we wanted but they were able to take them and create an absolutely fantastic plan that worked with the budget we had. They even set us up so we can build on the yard in the future in stages as our budget allows. They were able to get us scheduled quickly and were so efficient about doing the work. It was a huge job but the guys were incredibly professional and kept us looped in to how things were going along the way. The final product was beyond fantastic. The patio not only looks great but is graded appropriately to keep water away from the house and also allows us to eat and cook outside. We feel the cost is about average for today's standards. Could we have gotten it done cheaper? Maybe but the quality of work would also have been less!
