Only a couple of vendors caught our eyes since the rest were well produces and bread, not that we don't love bread it was just a lot and I was only in two for a couple of more days. The sourdough bread looks incredible though, we just got some sweet dessert and baba ganoush to eat with the heirloom tomatoes. I think there was another farmer market on sunday at Sterling, will be going to that one next time I'm back in town.

I love shopping at the Herndon Farmers market where I can pick from a good selection of fresh, locally grown, wonderfully tasting produce. I love meeting the growers/farmers, talking about their farms, talking about their and my shared love for gardening. You can taste what a tomato is supposed to taste like with absolutely no yukky plastic taste like you'll find in a grocery store. A locally farm grown carrot or sweet peas is almost like eating candy because the are so sweet. And the fruit! Oh what the flavor of a watermelon tastes like when it's not a washed out flavor of a mass produced product. The farmers are always willing to answer any and all questions I may have and for the high quality of their produce I find their pricing very fair. They are in the same place all of us are with this economy and they understand we are all looking for a good price and they provide those.

Now i was in the area to buy gas, and I see an Aldi. I remember my cousins telling that they are fairly new. So ... I'm had to see.. Dairy products offer some great choices. I find it interesting that the Aldi packaging is so similar to the name brands. Staff is non existent except for the checker. Ring your own bags or pay .12 for a light paper bag. Also, even though I didn't use a cart, there is a deposit of .25 to use a cart.

I can definitely tell you that every strawberry was fresh. From my 5 lb basket there was only 1 bad Berry. Next time I will try the donuts and pastries. I love tried the Traditional British pies. These were so amazing. The flaky crust is so delicious. No empanada can match this flaky crust. The owner gave me specific heating instructions. I followed them and enjoyed my beef, potatoe and rhubarb pie. Let's talk about parking! Deduct one star because parking is impossible if you don't get there early. There are 2 entrances and it's a war zone. Advice: have someone drop you off while you wait in line.
