When I moved to the area last year I started my search for a hair salon and came across Spruce Salon. I've been in for haircuts and blowouts and both have been excellent, exactly what I asked for. The salon itself is super cute and very clean. The staff I've encountered are all super friendly and helpful. It's also nice that it isn't too hard to get an appointment if you're flexible on the stylist that you see. I'll be back in for a haircut soon! read more

Came here for the first time. Waxing services were unclear. When I got my waxing with Anna, I told her I wanted the sides of my face (sideburns and hairs growing into my cheeks) and my eyebrows. When I went to checkout, she charged me for the price of full face + eyebrows. She had the opportunity to share with me what "sides of face" vs "full face" meant in the studio when I said the exact term "sides of my face" and when I pointed out what areas I wanted waxed. She asked me if I wanted my chin waxed but I said no, I only needed the sides of my face done. If I thought I was getting a full face wax, I wonder if she waxed my chin, if she would have charged me an additional price for chin. So there's plenty of room for communication on pricing and the ambiguous services with no descriptions online. It's easy to mix up what does "full face" mean vs "sides of face" vs "sideburns", etc. and that "full face" also does not mean eyebrows are included. Had I known what I was being charged for, I would not have come here to begin with, so it's disheartening to have given away $75 plus a cash tip to this place just to get my sideburns/cheeks + eyebrows waxed, and no other part of my face, when I could have found better pricing elsewhere. Also their online pricing was different from what they were charging me in the system, and there's no signs or brochures in person that show their latest raised prices. The last thing is the site says you get $20 off your first service as a new customer, but in person, they said it only applies to hair coloring services, which COULD be easily clarified online, but It's just online bait, which is another reason why I initially came to try out this place. read more

Jen did an amazing job cutting my hair!I always assumed that a guy's haircut was easier than a woman's but learned from a few stylists that it is actually more difficult to cut men's hair. In the past a lot of stylists had a difficult time blending the sides. Jen is amazing! read more

I feel bad writing this because the girl who did my hair is a very nice person but wow did my hair come out awful!! I have been getting my hair professionally colored for 30+ years and I have to say this was one of my worst jobs I've ever had. I did not want to return to have her fix it because I was afraid to have her touch it again. The salon was nice and the employees were nice but I spent 4 1/2 hours there and it wasn't cheap to have my hair color ruined. It's Orange. Not blonde. For anyone wanting to get any type of waxing here, I strongly urge you to reconsider your decision. I mean this review in the nicest way. No bad blood here! But it's important that people know what they're getting into as well as constructive criticism for the owners. I got my eyebrows done on September 4th. I usually go to a girl named Rachel but I found out when I arrived that she had since moved on (good move on that one!) For the day, I had an appointment with a woman who was "filling in" for the girl who normally does waxing, Nicole, who is fresh out of cosmetology school and works twice a week. Elena, the girl who did my brows was instructed to shape them and clean them up. I have gone to Spruce on multiple occasions with eyebrows very grown out (I have extremely light eyebrows) and Rachel made them look better than ever. Upon sitting with Elena, I discovered that she was filling in for Nicole and used to do eyebrows at a full service salon (a salon where you do everything from hair to nails to toes) but she is truly at Spruce just to do hair. That should have been my cue to leave....someone doing eyebrows that isn't specialized in them? She proceeded to wax my tail off and my arch off. Upon looking in the mirror, I was horrified. I immediately went to the front desk where I spoke to Catherine and the owner Jackie. Jackie first began to say that Elena had clients all morning and there had been no problems. (Very smart thing to do as an owner is to blame the client!) She then proceeded to ask me if I had come in with some sort of "problem" as to why my eyebrows now looked like thin, wet, banana peels. (Again, insinuating blame on the client.) She offered me a free brow pencil and a facial... (the least she could do) and said that Nicole could take me at 9:15am on Tuesday for a brow lamination and tint. The funny thing is, Catherine ends up calling me the morning of the appointment at 9am to let me know that Nicole already has an appointment at my scheduled time and she has "a little time" to fill me in. (Mouth drop here) Nicole has "a little time" to fill a client in whose eyebrows were waxed off and left with no shape or arch? How lovely! I ended up going to my old girl Rachel the same day and receiving THE MOST amazing brow tint and lamination. The little eyebrow I have left, she saved. Moral of the story; have someone take care of clients that knows how to perform the service. Example: I wouldn't ask a hair stylist to change the oil in my car. Eyebrows are an art and should be treated as such! read more

I was in the area with some free time and I decided to get a haircut. Naturally I turned to yelp for guidance. Well I'm definitely not disappointed. Brittany gave me a great cut. She also blew and flat ironed my hair. She really paid attention and was meticulous about the work. I was worried to go to someone unknown but I'm very happy with the results. If you're in the area and need some great hair care, give them a try. PS: I have thick hair that's been treated with keratin and she was able to work with it perfectly. I'll be back. read more

I had worked in the industry for 15 years as a Salon Mgr. so I know when I find a good Salon. Everyone is super friendly and accommodating and the color and cut I get each time is beyond excellent. First, AVEDA. The color is in a class of its own. If you've gone to an AVEDA salon, you will never go back to any other colorists and products. It's not a non-dimensional color line; with tweeks HAIR and there (pun intended), the color brings out the best in your hair and is the most natural color one could ask for. After I moved further away from my previous salon, I continued to drive over an hour on a one lane highway behind cement trucks. When I finally got the guts to find somewhere closer (which took me 7 years to do), I found SPRUCE...and Jackie. I had been traveling to an AVEDA spa/salon for about 15+ years. MY guy was a perfectionist; every single hair was cut "textbook" perfect. I always felt comfortable enough to sit in the chair and trust his professional judgement to make all decisions, and I always left happy...or at least I thought I was. Perfection, as it turned out, was not for me. When I tried SPRUCE, I was hesitant at first; it just wasn't the "same;" Jackie's methods were different; the cut was different, the blow-out was different. With my color formula, the color was perfect. I was on the fence... as a creature of habit, changing dentists and hair stylists were traumatic experiences for me! In between my first two visits to Spruce Salon, I had the need to go back to my old stylist once more. This month, my decision was a no-brainer; not only is Jackie precise, but she is creative and consistent. She is an artist who takes the time to create a masterpiece and appears to take pride in every end result. I give Spruce Salon 10 stars. I highly recommend it. All the girls do a great job based on what I've observed. CHANGE CAN BE GOOD...for me it was the best decision ever. I wish I had done it sooner. I get so many compliments all the time. Wow! I got the most amazing facial today from Rachel. I actually normally don't enjoy facials but do them to keep up with my skin. This was the most enjoyable hour I have had in a while. Not only is Rachel super knowledgeable but she makes it the most relaxing experience. The scalp massage she gave me was to die for! I actually loved it so much I am going back tomorrow for another service with Rachel. Spruce is such an inviting place, and Juliana gives a great haircut. I have long straight hair and just needed a trim, and it was perfect. I love the decor, iced cucumber water, herbal tea, and hand massage, cause no matter how stressed you might be, they'll relax it right out of you. Everyone who works there is friendly and ready to chat you up, but they also clearly take their work seriously. Their sink chairs are so much more comfortable than any others I've been in! I ended up coming here for a cut and style right before a wedding once, and tried some of their makeup and ended up buying a cute bracelet that matched my outfit. I went to Spruce salon when I had finally reached the end of my rope with my look. I told them I wanted to be super blonde/but natural looking. I knew it was a huge feat bc I had destroyed my hair. I left there with the best color I had ever had. Ever! I was under the impression it would be a long process to get the look I wanted but after the first time there I left 100% thrilled. I can't wait to go back before the holidays and this time go for the cut as well. The salon is spotless and the staff are courteous and friendly. It's a great experience from beginnin to end. Ps.
