The girls at the desk were very friendly and nice with checking in. The inside looked clean, and organized. What threw me off was when the girl who started doing my hair had someone else belong I guess they have assistants now to help with hair ? Usually when I've gotten my hair down the last it was only one stylist doing my hair but here there's helpers so it's not just the hair stylist . Little confusing when it came time to tip because it's basically an extra person I didn't plan on tipping . The end trust of my hair was definitely how k wanted so no complaints ! Stephen was a pleasure to meet. My hair was in need of some TLC and he restored it to looking quite nice. Shop is busy and bustling for an early morning. Stephen is someone I would recommend without hesitation. Three stars given for some ambiguity. Advertisement listed, "Single process color, cut, and dry $49". Single process meaning just a root touch up, but that is not written on the ad. I paid an additional $25 and was told of the increase as soon as I sat down, so no deception. Just wish I knew prior to the appointment. I also did not know there was a 4% fee for credit cards. Unfortunately did not see any wording on website to inform me of this fee. Would have paid in cash, but didn't have enough due to $25 add on for full color. Prices vary depending on stylist, so I will definitely call PRIOR to appointment. I like the beauticians. The shampooers. I only have an issue with the front desk that seems to be aggressive with tipping. Even if you use a Groupon, which states to tip 15% on the full amount of the customary service, the front desk should not question clients. You should just include tip in with the Groupon if you are that worried. There is no such thing as a mandatory tip. Just for the record, I tip more than 15%. A this is the reason why only 4 stars and not 5 due to business tipping attitude. read more

Growing out grays is lengthy and challenging and requires perseverance. Ginnie patiently listened to my vague request and came up with the best solution. Applying highlights, she blended my dyed hair perfectly with the grays growing out. I no longer have a visible regrowth line and love the final result! I am not from the area but I came to the salon to use a Groupon and get my haircut while I was visiting a friend in Howell. When I scheduled my appointment over the phone, the receptionist was very pleasant and got me in that same day at a time that was convenient for me. The stylist who cut and styled my hair was Lisa. When I sat in the chair I told her I wanted to cut 10 inches off my hair and donate it. She did an awesome job cutting my hair with long layers and even thinning it out (since I have really thick hair). When it was time to blow dry it she asked exactly how I wanted that done which showed me she paid attention to detail. I was very pleased with the way my hair came out and the service I received while at the salon. I would recommend making an appointment with Lisa if you're looking for a cut and blow out. read more

My mother went in for a hair appointment on Christmas Eve. Apparently, two ladies working and the front desk were sick and not wearing masks, and overheard two customers say they were ill, with one "just getting over COVID (again no mask). Come Christmas Day, she already starts showing signs of being sick - weakness, congestion, coughing, pounding headache. Today, the day after Xmas, my sister starts showing similar symptoms, and it's even worse for her because now she can't go on her boyfriend's family vacation anymore which she's been looking forward to for months!! And of course, my mom's in even worse shape today. Post COVID, Im upset that the salon dampened my family's Christmas and potentially that of other customers this week by not advising their employees or customers to wear masks if they feel any symptoms of ANY illness. If I could leave no stars I would . I bought a Groupon for services . When I went to book it they told me the Groupon could not be used within a year of my last service there . The Groupon did not state that . The Groupon stated you could not use the coupon within month (s) of service but did not specify the length of time between your visits . I called and spoke with them and they had to speak with the owner and the owner declined to accept my Groupon even though it's their error that they do not stay a time frame . Bad business. Horrible. Took my daughter here to get a Keratin Treatment. Checked in for just a Keratin Treatment, informed there would be an extra charge for long hair (totally expected). Stylist asked if she wanted a haircut, she said no. She said she had to do a trim (always comes with a Keratin). So why was I was still charged for a haircut?!?! Shady. Color came out very nicely but when it came to the cut the girl chopped my hair up and so uneven , had complained to them in the front they gave me a different hairdresser which was Alyssa she tried the best she could to even the hair out , she said try to just let it grow out and get it recut . I have been going to Metro for 20+ years and have only had a wonderful experience! They are completely accommodating and professional. Lauren M by far does the most amazing highlights! Absolutely horrible experience!! If I could have given a zero I would have. Had a Groupon for full head highlights, cut and condition. Salon refused to do highlights because I wanted red, said there would be an up charge of $25 for "glaze". Ummm, not if you did the highlights correctly, red not bleach. Of course no where in the fine print did it say that yet they refused unless I was willing to pay more. Then she said if she applied the bleach and I didn't like the color it came out she STILL would have to apply glaze. REALLY!!!! The cut is a joke clearly did not listen to anything I said nor look at the several pictures I brought with me. Condition?!! Who knows. I guess that was what was applied after the wash, another joke, that is basic not something special. Then the front desk girl insists that I must tip at least 15% of the purchase price and basically interrogated me to make sure that I had done that. Metro salon : Howell NJ Extremely bad experience. Bought a group on. Made an appointment weeks in advance. Called once again to confirm the appointment one day prior. When I called to confirm the appointment Abigail ( Assistant manager ) told me the there your appointment is at 12:00ppm with Marie. I initially booked with Danett on for Sunday at 10:30am. Abigail stated that she never works on weekends. So then kept the appointment for the which they changed without telling me. So next day Sunday I showed up 15min prior and Jane tells me that I am so sorry Marie called out today and I called and texted but I showed her that I never got a call. Then she said oh I have the wrong number. I drove ONE hour away and they have nothing to accommodate. Extremely upsetting. Abigail lied as Jane told me that Denett works on Sunday. Came in with a Groupon for a full head highlights / cut / blowout but wasn't expecting much. The salon itself is pretty big and there seems to be a lot of people working there. When I first got in I was not greeted right away the two ladies just kept talking for about 5 minutes then the one introduced herself and asked if she could finally help me which I thought was rude esp considering the other one didn't even acknowledge me.... That aside I had Giana who I specially asked for because I saw she was good with blondes. She is the sweetest little thing! I'm so happy I had her. She was so nice and pleasant to talk to, did my hair fairly quickly, and matched me up perfectly. She's not scissor happy like most other stylist and gave me just a little trim and side bangs. TERRIBLE SALON DO NOT GO HERE-read this all and you will know why! I had an appointment with Danette for a haircut. She was SO incredibly rude from the second I arrived. She sat me down in her chair and starts commenting on how thick my hair is and giving me nasty looks. She then proceeds to start straightening my hair (mind you I was here for a wash/haircut/blowout. She said she was going to straighten my hair then cut it then wash it and blow it out??? I know I have thick hair but no one has EVER had to do this before. She then told me if I had a groupon and that if I did have a groupon she was going to charge me $25 extra... I then asked her VERY POLITELY what the $25 fee was for. She replied while huffing and puffing, "BECAUSE ALL OF THIS WORK I HAVE TO DO ON YOU, IF YOU DON'T LIKE IT THEN LEAVE". I turned around to her so shocked and said excuse me are you serious.. and she then proceeds to say "SO SERIOUS, BYE" while snatching the cape off of my neck!!!!!!!!!!! I went to the front and asked for the manager and receptionist who were also VERY RUDE and incredibly unprofessional. I asked for the lady who was doing my hairs name and license number and they refused to give it to me EVEN THOUGH THAT IS MY LEGAL RIGHT, and I had to call the cops in order for the salon to FINALLY give me her name and license number. The owner was just as nasty as the rest of them. WORST EXPERIENCE OF MY LIFE!!!!!!!!!!!!! You are a hairstylist, you should be able to deal with ANY kind of hair and if you are not capable of that then you should not try and charge people extra just because you are inept. I got a groupon for a cut and balayage and was very nervous about going somewhere new. I usually just let a friend cut it (for basic cut). I am so happy I tried this place. Giana did such an amazing job on my color that I will def be returning, even though it is like 45 min away. I am blonde and just wanted to lighten it a bit and have it look natural, I also wanted to get a side bang (I was nervous about this too as i have really long hair). She listened very well and gave her advice, which was great as I only had an idea of what I wanted, and I am so happy with the results! Thank you so much Giana! I am impulsive so I called before I bought a Groupon to make sure they could take me that same weekend and they were able to accommodate me. I have had traumatic hair experiences in the past (naturally dirty blonde, box dyed black for a few years, tried to go back to total blonde and it was all fried very short and orange so I just went back to black and waited years for it to grow back), so I was really nervous about getting a full head of highlights as I had black dye in again, but Nicole did a great job of making sure the color lifted as even as possible. I didn't make it very easy for her as I questioned a lot and she was very patient for me. Given my past experience, I should have probably went with a highly recommended to me and very seasoned colorist, but.... again, I am impulsive, and I really lucked out with Nicole!! All of the staff were very nice and it was awesome to see how they helped each other - I will be back again! read more

I came 40 minutes out of my way because they had good reviews and when I got there, because of traffic, I was 15 mins late. I had 2 kids, 2 & 3 and they told me I couldn't get my hair cut because I was LATE! I said I'm 15 mins late and she said, actually 17!! Oh 2 mins difference changes lives! So rude!!!!!!!! BEWARE!!! Place is horrible. I do not recommend! Do not waste your money. Bought the blow out package and regret going there for the 2 months that I did. All the stylists acted like you were bothering them when you came in to get your hair done. They were rude and literally just put a hairdryer to my head and moved my hair around. (I can do that myself) I tried different stylists and found one that I loved. I was then informed she wasn't taking any blowout customers. I offered to pay more. The manager was rude and said no and belittled me for asking that. I had to cancel an appt that was at 5pm and rescheduled it and the rude manager said she was charging me $4.95 because it was less than 24 hours notice. Ok so should I have charged them when I had an appt at 9am and the stylist never showed up or when I left work early To have a specific stylist do my hair and I was told she left for the day.
