I like this shop in an older strip mall of sorts. It was quite busy where apparently it's the hangout breakfast spot for the retiree crowd. The prices are very reasonable. I ordered 2 dozen Spudnuts and a latte for $22. They have many varieties so there is something for everyone. The Spudnuts are not overly sweet so you don't feel as bad for eating them. Everyone is so kind and it is is pretty good service speed the lines may not be as quick but i is definitely worth to wait. I've stopped in here a couple times passing through the tri cities. They must crank through an insane number of donuts everyday because they had sheets on sheets of donuts laid out all over the place. There is not a classic display case, but it's fairly easy to take a look around to find something that catches your eye. In addition to the donuts on sheets they have stacks of dozens ordered ahead of time AND the cooks never seem to stop making them! It's crazy. As for the difference between their spudnuts and a "normal" donut, I don't think my donut loving palette has developed enough to really be able to tell the difference. All you need to know is that they are damn good! We hung out for a while once this winter to wait for road conditions to improve and to soak up the atmosphere for a bit, so glad we did! They have a fairly constant stream of regulars and newcomers alike. Coffee comes in a small, 6 oz. cup, but the staff walks around with a pot topping everyone off and making small talk. Their donuts are just so-so. They aren't made like traditional donuts at all, which are dense. Spudnuts donuts are light and fluffy, like cake. Nothing to shout about. Oh, and they are always sold out of donuts before noon; I tried 3 different times to buy them from their store. They are TOTALLY uninterested in making more donuts. How dumb can you be?! Dropped in at Spudnut Shop while on vacation and it hit the spot. We wanted an authentic little mom & pop place for breakfast. We decided to go to Spudnut. You can tell why it is a locals favorite - friendly staff, nostalgic atmosphere, oh and those spudnuts. My husband had the glazed and I had the chocolate w/chocolate icing (only available on the Fri - Sat I believe). The breakfast sandwich was good as was the burger. This place reminds me of one of those fountain drugstore places from an era long gone. Prices are good and there was never a moment where this little shop was not busy.
