Such a cozy place. I ordered a chai latte with soy milk and it was everything I wanted it to be. I also ended up buying three types of coffee beans to bring back home. The employees are so sweet and took the time to explain to me the different types of coffees they have. Spyhouse is always a go to for us. With good coffee and an amazing study space, they are an amazing coffee shop. There are many around, and you won't be disappointed when you visit. I had the caramella and a hot coffee. I loved the latte and will definitely have it again, but it didn't come out as hot as I would have liked it. But the taste was exactly what I wanted. It gets pretty busy and the space to order isn't the largest, so waiting in line gets a little cramped. read more

We found this coffee shop yesterday walking by and the decor was very nice and classic. I had a cortado and I really like the flavor of the coffee. Loved the atmosphere here! Very dapper, Mad Men-esque vibes, with the black pleated cushioned chairs and Woden tables and accent pieces. I'd always heard that Spyhouse is expensive, but I didn't find it overly expensive. I would recommend the tea, which comes from Tea Source: Montana Gold and Evenings in Missoula are my favorite herbal teas they offer! Two gender neutral restrooms available in here. Plenty of booth and chair seating available--I also like the high-top table options. Great ambient music playing to get you in the concentration mood. One of my first sights going from Airport to my Airbnb on my first visit to Minneapolis. So it made an impression. Love their fantastic name! And, it reminded me of some Seattle cafes in the best way. Charming corner location. The kind of cafe you can spend some serious time in. Which, is good. So good. Real cafe ingredient. It's just that it was always very busy when I stopped in. So, I just grabbed a coffee and one of their irresistible pastries. Hope my timing is better next visit to sit for awhile. Struck me as very sleek. They really know what they are doing. Tasteful lighting and atmosphere. Inviting sitting, talking, and studying tables. They roast their coffee. Stopped in here this morning with my wife for a cappuccino and a snack. Usually we go to the Spyhouse on Broadway, but thought this one might be a change of pace. The coffee is very good, as it has been at every Spyhouse visit I've made. We're recently moved from the Seattle area and the cappuccino's they serve here would not be out of place back there. Just the right consistency of milk and foam to create the perfect mouthfeel, and not just a latte with some extra foam slapped on top like I see at most other places around here. I love the atmosphere in this location. Bright and airy and open, with ample tables and power outlets. I only wish this was closer to home, as I'd love to hang out here more often. read more

I visited two different Spyhouse Coffee shop during my visit to Minneapolis-Saint Paul. They were the perfect place to get my class work done after a day full of conference workshops. Each shop had its own vibe, the Nicollet street shop has High ceilings, a tone of plants hanging from different areas as well as set along the windows. The windows offer all the natural light you need because they are massive and line the entire shop! There was outdoor seating at both the locations I visited which is nice for those who prefer to be outside. It was spacious, welcoming and extremely clean. Over the course of my visit I tried their cold brew, butter croissants, and their Rosella tea which I s steeped personally for each customer! I will definitely be back to visit other locations. read more

Great atmosphere with a lot of good looking and well-dressing people. Lol. It is super spacious inside with lots of tables. I recommend to sit by the windows. What I am super excited about is their oat milk. I am told that they are discontinuing their almond milk. But the oat milk is local and delicious. Normally I get chai or mocha, both are good here. Spyhouse Coffee is always on my list when I visit Minnesota. This is one of my favorite locations because of the area. Street parking isn't too hard to find which is a plus. Some friends and I started the day with brunch and stumbled upon this Spyhouse location after. For a Saturday morning, it was not super packed and we were able to find a spot to sit and hang out easily. I love their drip coffee and their lattes are consistently good every time I visit. This particular Spyhouse Coffee is located in a great part of Minneapolis! There are amazing eateries and stores all around. The only issue here is parking. You will have to find street parking so come a little earlier if you plan on meeting someone here for a coffee date. It's a popular area so it will be busy throughout the day. The cafe is spacious but really popular. It's usually filled with people for the most part. It was hard to find a seat during the 5-6 p.m. hours. The coffee is ok, nothing to special but gets the job done. read more

I usually come to Spyhouse for a morning coffee before work and it's a pretty chill time to be in the shop. The vibe is great at Spyhouse, even at 7 a.m. on a Monday. The first time I went to a Spyhouse, I thought the menu was a little intimidating - I felt like I didn't know how to order the drink I wanted. But the baristas are always really kind and answer my questions whenever I have them. So never fear - walk up and ask questions if you need to! If you like making coffee at home, their beans are great! They can get a little spendy, but they're worth it. If you're looking for a great latte, go for the Spygirl. If the day is calling for something stronger, you can't go wrong with the Americano. There's only one downside to Spyhouse IMO. It gets crowded. Like, super crowded. I stopped going on weekends because every time I would go, the line would be nuts and there would be no place to sit to enjoy my coffee. It gets filled up pretty quickly with people working and studying, and it seems that they camp out for most of the day. Such is life when you're a good coffee shop, though. read more

I don't understand the logic behind poor customer service. I waited 20 minutes for my coffee. It was done just sitting there getting cold. Several people who had come after me got their coffee before me. I had to ask for my coffee. From the start the service was poor, what good does it do your business to give your customers attitude when they are ordering? If they have questions about the types of coffee you have, you should inform them. There wasn't anyone else in line when I was ordering so I wasn't holding up the line. The barista rolled her eyes at me. I love coffee but I will get it somewhere where it doesn't feel like I'm inconveniencing the staff by placing an order. I am thankful that I can sit here at Spyhouse right now. I applaud any place where you can go in, sit down, get online, and not buy anything. I've been going to this coffeeshop for years when I ran into it randomly one morning driving along eat street and I still come from St. Paul just to go here. It's got its pros and cons, and even though I'm slightly biased on it due to its history in my life, I'll my best to give it to you straight: Pros - the atmosphere. The décor is reminiscent of a 50s/60s theme with some really unique pieces sprinkled throughout the place such as the furniture, lighting, knick-knacks, and marketing. The music is usually pretty laid back and a nice background mix. - the people. Such diversity! Located near MCAD, Spyhouse brings in art students, teachers, local residents, shoppers passing through, occasional homeless people, etc. Cons - the staff. While I've never had a problem with my drink not being made right or anything blunderingly bad, they seem very short and almost as if you were bothering them (like if the customers were seas of tourists coming in and asking directions to the Walker gardens or something). - the wifi. They do have it, it's free, but I've run into problems with connectivity where the router needs to be reset. Could be the amount of people piggybacking on it brings it down to a halt. Update: I've been back since writing this and the men's bathroom has had a nice makeover. New tile and the door inside has been replaced/repainted and the novels of graffiti now gone. read more
