This location in inside of the Emery Hotel in a very chic lobby, and the coffee shop is basically a cutout of the hotel's lobby area, fitted with lots of seating and tables. Everything we tried this time (Lavender Love Potion, Carmella iced latte, PB&J chia seed pudding, and the Strata) and before have been great! In the corner of the Emery Hotel. Ordered a Spy Girl (lavender honey latte) with oat milk. Delicious, not too sweet. Just enough lavender for flavor. Kouign-Aman - good but a little stale. Mill City Strata - a quiche of sorts. Cheesy. Good texture with the crunch of the cheese crisped on top. But all I could taste was the flavor of the cheese. Not bad but is a bit of a one note bite. They were out of forks which made eating this a bit frustrating. Came at 7:45am on a Saturday and service is a little slow. Overall recommendation, come for the coffee but grab food and breakfast elsewhere. read more

Spyhouse has a really great vibe and a ton of seating, making it a solid spot to hang out or get some work done. The staff behind the counter are incredibly friendly too. I ended up trying their espresso tonic. Honestly, it wasn't amazing but it wasn't bad either, just a pretty standard, decent version of the drink. It has that classic dark espresso layered right on top of the clear tonic, and they garnish it with a little sprig of rosemary. It looks great and hits the spot if you just want something cold. They do have some food options in the case as well, though I didn't try any of it this time around. Definitely a cool place to chill for a bit. read more

Was staying at the hotel and was so lucky to have Spyhouse downstairs as I was able to get freshly made coffee every single morning. I am not usually a coffee drinker, but this place has great lattes. So smooth and not too sweet, which I love! I wish they had a medium-sized drink as their small is too small, and the larger one is a bit too big. I've always gotten the bigger size and ended up finishing it throughout the day!! My favorites - chai latte, spygirl (lavender/honey latte), solid gold (turmeric latte). Still have a few others that I want to try while I am still in MN. This is a unique Spyhouse location as it's in the lobby of a beautiful hotel that is in an old bank building. The lobby itself is very stylish, with big dark bookshelves, large plants, big fireplace, cozy and comfortable seating, tables, a pool table, etc. When we visited it was decorated for Christmas and that alone was worth the visit! The coffee was delicious and service good. My husband and I both ordered the seasonal "Shakespeare's Fool" which was delicious in decaf and regular. The latte art on top was a plus! The only downside or thing to know is that this location will not accept Spyhouse giftcards because it is part of the hotel. I came wanting to use one, so this was a bummer but I understand and the barista was very apologetic. As a side note about the business, it's impossible to check your giftcard balance online. So while I'd like to use my giftcard, I'm unsure if I will realistically be able to soon! read more

Spyhouse is connected to a hotel so you'll get a mixture of people staying and people working from home that decided to spend their day here. Where you order is tucked away in the back. When we came on a Tuesday around 230pm it wa's a 2 person operations. They seemed a bit frantic as a line of 6-7 was starting to build up. Not as warm and inviting as the place was. When we asked what a few of the drinks were, you could tell they were over it. But it was just a brief interaction that it didn't affect me much. They also had pretty soft spoken voices so when they make your drink and call out your name, don't be too far otherwise you might never hear them. We ordered: Solid Gold which has turmeric, ginger, and oat milk latte. It was sweetened with maple syrup and topped with pepper. Tonic Youth which is a mango vanilla espresso tonic garnished with rosemary. It comes iced only. I enjoyed the tonic youth a touch more. I think the mango wasn't quite strong but the rosemary came out quite well. The solid gold was yummy but turmeric drinks are one shake too much from being overbearing and I think that was the case. I would order it again but ask for a dash less of turmeric. The ambiance is picturesque. The lighting feels nature. There is enough greenery in the place to help you feel grounded. There are tables, solo desks, comfortable seating, places to chit chat, places to work that gives you options of how you want to spend your time here. There is also a pool table. We played it. But the people working nearby didn't look too happy. Oh well! We had fun. There was a ledge on the planters where we set our drinks. read more

I love Spyhouse! This was my first time going to the downtown location. It was so spacious and cozy. A great place to work or enjoy coffee solo or with a friend. The solid gold is a favorite of mine. I love that it leans more towards a spicy flavor than sweet. Always a hit! Luckily, this location wasn't super busy and I was able to get my drink pretty quickly. Was visiting Minneapolis and looking for a coffee spot to grab a latte before work. It was a bit hard to find but once I got in the building, the guys behind the desk were able to direct me. I got a triple oat milk latte and a yogurt parfait. Both were delicious! The parfait had fruit and granola. I came in for a nice cold drink of coffee and this place hit the spot for me! First of all, the Caramella had just the right amount of sweetness. They really do their caramel/vanilla syrups well - doesn't taste artificial at all. Second of all, it was a hot day outside and the A/C inside blasting plus the ice in the drink instantly cooled me down. It was packed but we were able to find a table and sit inside and enjoy our beverages. I ordered the spy girl which was good but nothing too special I felt the flavor really lacked and I added a few packets of sugar in the raw to make it taste better. And I usually prefer black coffee. My boyfriend ordered a small hot cocoa which basically was warm milk with a tiny bit of chocolate. This is a great place, very roomy, for individuals or groups, whether you're there to work or talk. The #1 thing is they're OPEN seven days a week. I have to rave about this place for a moment. Spyhouse always has magical spaces and places but this one is particularly special as it is MASSIVE. Amazing for large groups as it would be comfy finding a space here to talk about books or other social activities like partaking in some of the games that they have around. The barista who made my coffee was super kind, welcoming, and accommodating to any modifications (i just asked for almond milk and they had so may options!). Not only is this location hidden inside a hotel vault themed area, the entire concept is witchy and magical. In fact, I never planned to come here, rather, I stumbled into it based off a wrong turn adding even more elements to the Hogwarts theme. This Spyhouse offers all the same menu drinks as the other locations and a little bit more food but offers such a unique visual that others don't have including a plethora of green plants, wicked large fireplace, and varying high and low top tables spread across the entire hotel lower level. It's located inside the Emery hotel at 4th Ave 2nd Avenue. We had to walk outside at 510 Marquette building since for whatever reason their Skyway access was closed. :/ The lobby at the Emery is very chilled. Gas fireplace. Lots of wood tables and chairs and microfiber chairs and pads and lots huge marble pillars. Big tall lofty ceilings. The music is quite perfect for coffee house vibe. Orders a mocha and a sencha tea, it was $14.92, quite expensive here. $8.05 with two extra shots. Their 16 ounce mocha only comes with two weak and measly shots of espresso :( They were out of oat milk, should have run out and bought some more, it's not even 11am and are out of their overpriced oat milk. The mocha was just so-so, not worth $8.05. My husband said it would have been better with oat milk for sure. They roaster is off site, so it's not quite as fresh as one would expect for claiming to be a roaster. Service was tepid at best. The green tea was decent, smelled better than it tasted. I see there's several of these all over, thus the low quality and flavorless coffee and tea here. read more

This cafe is SO cute, honestly probably my favorite of Spyhouse's locations. We came in with a large group & the baristas were great, even though it would honestly be annoying to have to take all of our orders. Our drinks came up quickly and were delicious! I got an iced latte with oat milk, vanilla, & lavender; if I'd read the menu more closely, I probably would have gotten the Spy Girl, since it's almost the same. My drink is really tasty, not too sweet, & the right ratio (for me) of coffee to milk to ice. All in all, I'll definitely be coming back to this spot! If you're looking for a cool, understated luxe coffee experience with zero pretentiousness then this is your jam. Here's the deal: Location: right inside the Emery hotel. It's lush with live plants everywhere. The furniture is cool, earthy, and comfortable. Drinks: I had the special, the Cherry Styles iced latte and it was the perfect blend of oat milk, espresso, and house made cherry syrup. It was balanced and not overly sweet. Food: there is a decent selection of food ranging from breakfast sandwiches, to pastries, to plates. I chose the vegan egg bake and it was fluffy, flavorful, and filling. I'm definitely going to dream about it. My bill for both items with tip was around $20, which seems about on par for a classy place downtown. read more

It's kind of hard to assess this place on its merits as an actual coffee shop, since it's also [sort of] the lobby of the Emery hotel and the latter is probably what most accounts for the lavishness and vibe that make this a great place to hang out for a couple of hours. I think you'd be hard-pressed to find another coffee shop anywhere in the world that's as aesthetically pleasing or as comfortable as this. There is so much seating, but it doesn't feel crowded or suffocating because it homey, well arranged, and surrounded by greenery. There are bathrooms as well as a water station available. When it came to order, there was a cute chalk drawing of Winnie the Pooh representing the Honeynut seasonal drink, which means I had to try it. The drink came out quickly, and it was delicious- a great balance of coffee, nuttiness, and creaminess without being too sweet.
