For the love of all things pizza, I have met one I didn't like. Oh I know, not Squisito?! Yea, so here goes. Hankerings are mean and when it's for pizza, I gotta have that pizza. First time at Squisito, I chose the flatbread lasagna with sausage. Yum, right?! I went right for a corner slice and while a nice size, the instant limp on pick up to bite was disappointing. Got takeout tonight and it was very quick! The Greek salad with grilled chicken added was good because there was a generous portion of well-seasoned chicken, but it's not the best Greek salad ever. I ordered it with the house dressing, but would be interested in trying the red wine vinaigrette. Both of the salads made two meals easily, which is always great. The calamari wasn't as hot as it could be, but that that's fair since it was takeout. It did have a ton of flavor and the marinara sauce served with it was AMAZING! We had a large party and a great meal. Most ordered pizza, but there were a few garlic knots and pastas floating around, too. We tried full pies and by-the-slice, and everyone enjoyed theirs. The toppings were plentiful, all veggies were fresh (not canned), and the sauce and cheese on all the pizza were good quality! Service is mostly walk-up-to-the-counter. Yummy! I was deprived of good pizza while living in Ohio. Despite the many places to eat in the Columbus area, they never reminded me on NY style Pizza... which is the BEST pizza. So, I stumbled upon Squisito because it looked like it had the flat, crispy crust and loads of cheese and boy I was not disappointed. A little greasy for my liking but, what east coast style pizza isnt? The price is great. They had a special on Monday for a $9.99 1 topping large pie. Cant beat that! Food quality has REALLY dropped downhill here. A 1.5 star restaurant at best. They are cutting corners in too many ways which makes the dining experience and food quality not as good as it used to be. The bread is day old leftovers and not even edible. I wouldn't even toss it to the dog. The food is not as tasty as it used to be, skimping on flavor and ingredients. The restaurant could use some air conditioning, as it was a gross balmy unenjoyable experience having the tablecloth stick to my arms and legs due to the moisture in the air. I've been here a few times, but this past time the service was much better than normal! My friend and I ordered one of their pizzas they have on display to order by the slice. It looked so yummy we bought a whole pizza instead of slices. We also ordered the garlic knots (which we order everytime). The way they display it looks so yummy, because it has some glaze on it that looks like buttery goodness. But we quickly learned that those are not fully baked yet. Once they bake it, it comes out without any type of glaze. While it's still yummy, we definitely wanted them to be brushed with butter or something. So this time around we asked for it that way and boy did they not disappoint! I highly recommend this to anyone ordering garlic knots. They also brushed it with extra minced garlic, so it was even better! Normally, service is pretty slow and it takes forever for them to bring our food out. This time, however, our pizza came shortly after the garlic knots. Maybe it was because we ordered the exact type they offer by the slice, so they already had it pre-made. Of the Squisito I have been to in MD, this one is the better. I find the food varies. Sometimes good, sometimes a little off. Say you order for five people, three will be happy and two may be concerned. Personally, I like the restaurant. My chicken wings were spot on delicious. My pizza was soggy but tasted fine. Chicken parmesan was good, veal parmesan pass. I prefer Squisitos over PH, PJ, Dom any time. Overall, we are usually satisfied. The service is always good for us. Not having been in Squisito in a very long time, I forgot that this is one of those places where you order at the counter first and then sit down. So when I walked in, the cash register lady said I was next. I said I wanted to dine in. She said that was fine. (long cricket silence) So I repeated that I wanted to dine in. She said that was fine. (long cricket silence) So I asked if someone is going to seat me or do I seat myself. She said I can seat myself. So I went and seated myself. After about 5 min of no one coming with any menu or service, I went back to the cash register lady and asked if someone is going to service me or do I order at the cash register. Her response was, "Yes, you can order here at the cash register." I wanted to walk out, but I was too hungry go find a different eatery. But I do not recommend this place at all. I really enjoy the pizza here and their garlic knots are awesome. I've been here multiple times and have yet to be disappointed with the service, cleanliness of the facility or the quality and taste of their food. The pizza is the typical NY Style thin crust. The crust is flavorful and light. The sauce isn't too sweet, tart or salty and the toppings are all of good quality and fresh. Well at least the pepperoni and mushrooms are since that's all I typically get lol The garlic knots are definitely some of the best I've had and the marinara dipping sauce that comes with them is delicious as well. Anyway give this place a try. I don't think you'll be disappointed. They even have window seating that makes for great people watching.
